Promoted from the diaries by Erick
From the lips of Obama at the United Freak Show last week:
No one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed.
.

.
There are basic principles that are universal; there are certain truths which are self-evident — and the United States of America will never waver in our efforts to stand up for the right of people everywhere to determine their own destiny.
OK then, big boy. How about let’s start with Honduras? How about you butt the heck out of Honduras, seeing as how the smart people conclude you are wrong about the recent so-called ‘coup’?
This week we find that the Congressional Research Service (CRS) states that Honduras acted within their laws in deposing Chavez-buddy, would-be dictator Manuel Zelaya.
Specifically, they conclude:
Available sources indicate that the judicial and legislative branches applied constitutional and statutory law in the case against President Zelaya in a manner that was judged by the Honduran authorities from both branches of the government to be in accordance with the Honduran legal system.
[they go on to say that deporting him was not legal, but I expect everyone agrees that the alternative was putting Zelaya in jail and trying him for crimes against the state; in other words, the deportation hardly constitutes some kind of outrageous breach that must be remedied by international interference]
The CRS, by saying so, merely agrees with most Republicans in Congress, for example Jim DeMint; with Honduras-born District Judge, Asst Solicitor General, and filibustered Appeals Court nominee Miguel Estrada; with Fausta Wertz; with the gloriously, immeasurably awesome Pamela Geller, and with your humble servant.
So who is the Congressional Research Service?
I’m glad you asked.
The Congressional Research Service is an agency of 700 employees operating under the authority of the Library of Congress, whose mission is to provide research and informed analysis of pretty much any question any member of Congress requests an answer to. They do original research as well as pore over the public record and whatever private information that have access to.
Their reports go to the Congressmen or committees that request the information, and their availability to the public is subject to the discretion of the Congressmen who receive the information (i.e., CRS cannot release any data, but those who use it may if they choose). In addition to reports, they provide testimony before Congress or committees, and provide seminars and training.
This is the Congressional Geek Squad, an army of scientists, accountants, business analysts, economists, lawyers, policy wonks, and miscellaneous experts. They have a mostly solid reputation and go to some lengths to foster a name for nonpartisanship. But like all geeky people in the federal bureaucracy, they might wear a veneer of political objectivity but they tilt a bit to port (left), at least according to conservatives.
Which is all the more damning to the Obama administration. Let me quote the CRS again, just because it’s fun to read:
Available sources indicate that the judicial and legislative branches applied constitutional and statutory law in the case against President Zelaya in a manner that was judged by the Honduran authorities from both branches of the government to be in accordance with the Honduran legal system.
Obama has levied sanctions in order to force the rightful government from power; he’s revoked the visas of all the high Honduran officials to keep them from attending the recent UN summit; the UN and the OAS have spoken against Honduras; thugs like Chavez, Evo Morales, and Castro are naturally in favor of their pet mini-thug Zelaya; Reuters and AP routinely use phrases like “the de facto goverment” and “military coup” in order to marginalize the rightful government.
But the smart guys, the left-leaning smart guys — they call BS.

About those visas....
Flagstaff (Diary) Thursday, October 1st at 11:40AM EST (link)I thought we couldn’t keep the Ah’madenutjobs and Kaddaffis and Chavezes of the world out of the US when they come to the UN because of the UN charter.
How can we keep out the legal President of Honduras?
“The press is so powerful in its image-making role that it can make a criminal look like he’s the victim and make the victim look like he’s the criminal. If you aren’t careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”– Malcolm X, Audubon Ballroom, December 13, 1964
Something like "I won"
E Pluribus Unum (Diary) Thursday, October 1st at 12:04PM EST (link)Since anybody that might be the “controlling legal authority” agreed with that evil deed, it happened without any opposition.
And I agree wholeheartedly with your tag line. I am a Pluto bigot.

The only poll that counts is the one at the ballot box.
I don’t want to be Reagan. I want to be a Chance/Soros hybrid.
There's actually a simple explanation for this
WarEagle01 (Diary) Thursday, October 1st at 12:53PM EST (link)Barry is obviously the victim of a radioactive beam and toxic gas attack by the Jews. It’s addled his brain. This accounts for his nonsensical position on Zelaya and pretty much everything else he’s done since Jan 20.

We must send observers
Castor (Diary) Thursday, October 1st at 2:23PM EST (link)I have not received any response from Michael Steele about my proposal for the Republican party to send observers to monitor and certify the election of November 29. There is no law to prevent the party from doing this, especially if in addition to the Americans, some Guatemalans and Peruvians joined in.
The main presidential candidates, Elvin Santos who was Zelaya´s own vice president and won the Liberal party primary over interim president Micheletti and Porfirio Lobo of the National party were already nominated before the perfectly legal ouster of crazy Mel Zelaya.
Obama is maneuvering with his buddies, Chávez and Castro to not recognize the winner in November.
Personally I will volunteer and pay my own way.Who will stand with me for a Free Honduras?
I will stand with you, with reasonable conditions to Michael Steele
ColdWarrior (Diary) Thursday, October 1st at 2:56PM EST (link)My passport is current – you can tell Steele I’ll volunteer, with the following very reasonable conditions. The conditions are that he has to begin explaining, NOW, to the “center right” base he keeps referring to that they have to get off their butts and get to a local GOP meeting to volunteer to become a precinct committeeman to fill up the 50 per cent of the slots that are currently vacant. And he has to put that plea front and center on the GOP.com web site. And he’s got to make an effort that that plea goes onto every state GOP web site. And county GOP web site. He has to publicly make a plea to all State and County GOP Chairman to get this message as soon as possible on their web sites. So it’s unmistakable. So that the Party goes from half-strength to full-strength as soon as possible. Because THAT effort will BEST ensure victory at the polls for the Republicans in 2010. Running a party at half-strength at the grass roots is a recipe for disaster.
Tell him you have at least one precinct committeeman who will volunteer for this project who has been a volunteer poll watcher here in Arizona for both the primary and general elections. Unfortunately, my Spanish is limited to “No tengo tiempo.”
Frankly, I doubt you’ll hear from Michael Steele. If you can, call his office now and ask to speak to him. Then fax, if you can, your comments here to his office, too. I always send faxes and then follow-up with a phone call – often times e-mails, I fear, get ignored because of the volume the RNC receives.
Thanks for your effort!
