I also doubt he is going to keep them there. I think the “permanent bases” idea is unworkable, given Iraqi history.

The thing that will alienate the left isn’t that the large conventional forces will stay there (they won’t): its that State, and USAID and the Special Operations Community will have a large presence there for years to come and will need to stay there for years to come.

I’m thinking Happy Days Are Here Again on Jan. 21 and never will be heard a discouraging word. Any opposition to or criticism of BHO specifically and Democrats generally will simply be ignored by the MSM, and I include Fox News in that too. They simply won’t take the chance of being frozen out, and unlike stupid Republicans this regime WILL freeze out anyone who crosses them. Republicans like the abused children that most of them are just try harder to get a hostile media to like them.

Any opposition to BHO, Pelosi, and Reid will be relegated to talk radio, as long as it lasts, and to the blogs.

The only consolation I have as part of the 48 is that, had we won, the country would have gone to hell anyway, just not quite as fast.

As it worked out, the One’s incompetence may actually prove to be a blessing; McCaine would actually have been able to get his stupid policies (amnesty, cap-and-trade) implemented. I suspect that Big O and the D’s are going to be so paralyzed by infighting and showboating that, faced with a solid front of filibustering congressional R’s (acting more out of annoyance than actual conservative values), they’ll fail to get any of thier major legislation passed.

Jerry Brown, the Attorney General of the State of California (I think he swore an oath to uphold both the state and federal constitutions). charged with defending the interests of the State has announced that he will argue to the State Supreme Court that they should countermand the legitimate vote and will of the people, (done in accordance with the law of the State of California) to grant special rights to a narrow contituency based on a choice in behaivior.

It might be just me, but it seems that he…in his quest to run for Governor and seeing Obama throw the Gay constituency under the bus in his quest for re-election to President, is jumping in to assume the role of Gay Panderer In Chief. The Balkanization of the country will continue unabaited.
