For my husband who puts up with me, more than I have to put up with him.

For my 5 4 legged kids who I love so dearly.

For the peace of mind God gives me when my mind is on high spin.

And, especially the commentors and diarists who have taught me that I really wasn’t all that an informed voter before I joined. I have learned so much from so many.

For the hurricanes not hitting us this year, one Katrina was enough for one lifetime. For our parish. For my job and the great guys I work with every day who bring such intelligence and persistence to work. For the all-too-rare chances I get to sneak out and play golf in God’s great green playground. For electing Obama, because no one can honestly ever believe there is significant institutional racism in the US again (hey, I’m trying to find something to be thankful for instead of complaining about him.)

Activists Taking Action: Unified Patriots

Jesus and His ultimate sacrifice tops my list. I am thankful that I can worship Him without being whisked off to jail or killed.

My mother comes in second. I don’t think I could live without her.

I am thankful for my house, working utilities, space heaters, a thermostat, safe food (and the selection and accessibility of it), hygiene and cleaning products, Charmin Ultra, and milk of magnesia.

I’m thankful for my clothes, for all my household appliances and furniture, and for TV, computer, internet, and phone access.

I’m thankful I can read, write, walk, talk, and move.

And of course I would never leave out those in the military and police who sacrifice to protect me and others so that we may continue to enjoy these things for which we are so thankful.

There is obviously so much more, but that covers a few of the top things.

Seriously. I almost wasn’t three years ago so every day since then, I thank God that I still am.

I know I grumble and complain about politics, politicians, stupid people, and so on, but I really am truly grateful to still be alive in spite of all the wrong in the world.

There is a lot of good, too, for which I’m also thankful. As long as there is still good in the world, it is not yet lost.

I am without words to express the gratitude of the life of Jesus Christ that lives in me, which I accepted some 17 years ago. It has keep me, as it always has, and has worked everything together for good in my life.

Also, a big thanks to EPU, GC, Birdmojo, & others here at RS. You have been a blessing to me during my first year here at RS!

I thank God for all he has given me: my family, a job, food on the table, clothes on my back, roof over my head, my freedom, and my country.

I am sorry I complain about not having money, but I don not go without necessitities, only my own selfish wants.

I am sorry I complain about my small, cold, cramped house, but it is home and relative to what most people in the world have is a palace.

I am sorry I complain about how the government increasingly does the opposite of what I would like, but I am thankful I can voice my opinion and have the right to labor to change it.

My God-given freedoms that allow me to live my life as I see fit and not how some holier-than-thou erudite aristocrat in Washington thinks I should live. This encompasses my ability to post my thanks for Jesus Christ, my personal savior, my countries military (both of which provide me the ability to post same here), my family, and all the experiences I was allowed to survive that make me who I am today.

Lastly, this site, which gives me an outlet to express my feelings and frustrations concerning the state of American politics as well as those of you who take the time from your otherwise busy day to post a response. Iron sharpens iron.

That’s what I sm thankful for. My Mom was a simple soul. She loved sitting on her porch and watching butterlies and birds. She’s gone, but I still watch those butterflies and birds.

I am thankful for…

• the grace and mercy of a God I no doubt disappoint more often than not

• my mom and dad for their love and support

• my sister and bro-in-law and their 2 children, which serve as reminders of what is really important in life

• Those close to me who have died, for reminding me to live well.

• The great state of Texas

• Tony Romo, without whom my Sunday afternoons in the fall and winter would be dreadful.

• Several righty-themed websites, RS chief among them, which let me know there are some sane people out there

• The wisdom of the Scots. Thanks for creating golf, fellas.

I am thankful for my husband and my family that puts up with me–without their assistance, I don’t think that I would make it through medical school.

I am thankful that I’m going to finally graduate from medical school this spring.

I am thankful that my doberman, Molly, is here this Thanksgiving to celebrate with us. In the summer of 2007, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of fibrosarcoma on her lower jaw. She had part of her jaw and two lymph nodes removed, and she has been put on multiple rounds of chemotherapy–but the cancer keeps coming back and growing bigger. However, even though the tumor on her jaw is now huge (and we can no longer remove any more of her jaw or it wouldn’t be functioning), she is in no pain, she still eats a lot, and she is happy–and the cancer somehow hasn’t spread any where else in her body. Theoretically, Molly should have died over a year ago, but she is still alive and kicking, and has enough energy to play with us and go for walks. It is simply a miracle that she is still here (and not suffering), and I thank God for that.

Oh, and I also thank God that I am lucky enough to be an American, and that I have all of these wonderful freedoms that I so often take for granted.
