While I do not have time to elaborate on this issue, it has been quite clear to me that since the Democrat takeover of Congress the defense budget has been tightened and is in jeopardy of losing 25% of its funding.

I wish I had some numbers ready to show from my reading of information found on the Heritage Foundation's website, but the Democrats are planning to axe 1/4 of the defense budget while over the last 20 years the increase in defense spending has underpaced considerably the spending in social services and human resources. I believed this article was written by either Hayek(spelling?) or some other respectable economist.

That being said we cut 25% of the defense budget and we may be returning to the amount of defense spending equal to pre-Reagan levels after correction for inflation. Most Americans will not be happy with a cut in the military budget if they were to see how much a 25% cut translates into.

The Chinese have been outspending us on military technological development and shortly, if oil increases, Russia's spending will begin its upward climb to U.S.S.R. levels.

we also need to fight to the last breath against eliminating the cap on FICA taxes. They are already unbelievably unfair to people at the top, who don’t even get back all their “contributions”. We don’t need to make it worse.

WE msut be on guard. H.R. 3221, is being used as a shell game to hide form us the true agenda of the bill. If you look at the House verions, it is the "Install Man Made Global Waming AS the Official Policy of All Branches Of U>S> Government And Reward Those "Paid" Scientists Who Say So" bill.

The bill is so full of pork they will have to print another 700 billion just to get this one off the ground. It also institutes Cap & Trade on a government level...something we did not let them do earlier this summer. They do it for the government and then they just "extend it" to the rest of us naive fools.

Along the way the original bill morphed into the act to provide relief to those suffering foreclosure. However if you look at the bill that rests oon the Senate Calendar for final consideration, it appears that the "old" H.R. 3221 with all the Global Warming (even creates a position for AlGore so he can give away your money within the structure of another GSE...can you say Fannie Mae?)nonsense is back with a vengence. Must not be enough anti-biotics in Wshington.

They can hold a filibuster for extremely unpopular measures. When unemployment is 7% or more there will be a number of DEMOCRATS joining a filibuster of anything that gives illegal immigrants access to the dwindling number of American job. Same with giving millions more access to unemployment, health benefits and social security. They do this, the baclash would be so big, OR, WA, NV and even with the number of hispanics, California’s Boxer would have a tough time in 2010.

The Republicans have no power to block anything. Period. There will be no filibusters of anything because the democrats can always peel off a few squishes by bribing them.

There will be no effective opposition for two years except only opposition by mouth.

Unemployment is up to 6.5% and will rise.

Republicans should stop any immigration proposal which replaces American workers with illegals. These are not jobs Americans won't do, the are jobs Americans can't get. No Amnesty.

Again, stress unemployment figures when opposing 500,000 more B-1 Visas. If there is a shortage of high tech Americans, then require the highly susidized universities to have American citizens take the spots that are given given to foreign students.

African American voters could be the biggest help. Until unemployment is under 4% then even legal immigration should be slowed down.
