As someone who considers himself mostly a libertarian, I would always ask myself, two questions. 1. Which person running for the government is going to allow the government the least amount power to interfere in my life. 2. What sounds right by instict. The answer to both of those questions comes to me more through the conservative message than the liberal one.

As far as the attacks on Obama, and that is not the way to win the hearts and minds. Personal attacks no, but attacks on policy or pointing to the hypocritical things that were done are completely inbounds. As a matter a fact this is needed more. The libs aren't playing nice, and unleashed the nuke bombs, why should we sit back, and just sing Kum By Yah.

On your communism comment. Yep, I'll agree that what Obama has currently proposed is Socialism rather than it's more extreme child communism. The differences are of degrees not method. I think calling him communist won't be helpful from a PR point of view. The socialist label on the other hand is right on.

I DO disagree that "Canada and Holland are much more socialist countries than Obama is aiming at turning America into". Canada is a pretty close picture of what Obama is proposing. His single payer health care plan and tax policies are very similar to Canada's. And that's just what we're getting in the first few months.

I'm not really familiar enough with Holland's government to comment on it.

On Pot: I don't believe the jails are full of people convicted of smoking it. They are full of people convicted of dealing it. Simple possession will rarely get you local jail time, let alone prison time. Possession with intent to deliver is another matter.

I'd actually support legalization if I didn't have several family members who have destroyed their lives with pot. It's sad to see someone with above average intelligence become nothing more than a bum and a burden on society.

On white noise. I think another way of saying this is we should pick our battles. You may be right to some extent, but there are limits on what we can accept and most of the legislation passed or proposed so far has been unacceptable. A lot of the white noise has been to point out the hypocrisy of the left. There's nary a peep when Obama does things to more extremes than the lefties skewered Bush for.

On GOP and Religion: You don't have to be Christian to be a GOP member or support our positions. The bits about the GOP conflating religion and politics are false, thought there are definitely some religious groups who hold very similar opinions to the GOP. But common goals is not exclusion of others. I can argue the points about gay marriage, and abortion without any religious connotations if you care to, but I don't really want to start a big rat hole here.
