It appears the goal has been to stop teaching love of country, flag, American values=Patriotism. IMO, they have intended this creeping destruction of our American core. And you're right, it is to get the concept of God out of the fabric of our nation. There is another venue they've used for this same assault, the movies. Yesterday, my college aged son and I were watching TCM(Turner Classic Movies). A great channel and they did a good job on July 4th. They showed old movies of the 30's,40's,50's. Their themes were patriotic ones. I'm not talking about the old WWII movies, but others that covered pre-Am. Revolution, the Revolution and well into the 1800's and 1900's. The movies showed the building of this great nation. Many were even musicals. 'Let Freedom Ring' (1939), 'Howards of VA. (1940), are just two of them. The movies are filled with references to God and patriotic songs. To get to my point; I noted to my son, the difference of the "old" movies to the ones of today. The old movies reinforced our cultural values. They reinforced patriotism. If you'll also note, they reinforced manners, standards, decent language. etc. The trash being produced for viewing today (and you can include television), intentionally does the opposite of reinforcing patriotism or decent societal values. Besides school, church was another place where values were reinforced, but that's another topic, for another day. Thanks for writing about this.
