KY Senate Update
dld1717 (Diary) Monday, April 13th at 11:27PM EST (link)Bunning (R)
Two big-name Democrats have decided not to run in next year’s U.S. Senate race, announcing today that they will instead endorse Jack Conway for the job.
U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler and state Auditor Crit Luallen had been considering the race, but decided instead to get behind Conway, Kentucky’s attorney general.
Conway was the second major Democrat to enter the race. Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo announced in February that he would run. Endorsed by Gov. Steve Beshear, Mongiardo has already raised more than $420,000 for his campaign.
Gerlach should forget about PA governor
Aetius728 Monday, April 13th at 11:30PM EST (link)And concentrate on keeping his seat. The best chance we have for picking up the PA governorship is Attorney General Tom Corbett.
Virgil Goode
Herodotus Tuesday, April 14th at 5:11PM EST (link)It looks more and more like Virgil is going to run agian in 2010. He is suppose to speak at the Lynchburg, VA Taxday TEA Party (that sounds to me like he is starting his campaign for 2010).

A lot Rematches and They Tend To Not Work
dld1717 (Diary) Tuesday, April 14th at 9:53PM EST (link)We can say this in regards to Melissa Hart, Anne Northrup, Jeb Bradley, and many others. In fact, they tend to lose more then they did the previous cycle
So far we have:
Sali in ID
Chabot in OH
Harris in MD
Sali, Again, in ID Would Be a Disaster
IJB Tuesday, April 14th at 11:28PM EST (link)I hope that somebody beats Sali in the Primary. He was the original problem with that district – replace him with another Republican, and I think that problem solves itself.
As to your general point, not all rematches go bad – Nothrup’s first winning KY-3 was actually a rematch, IIRC. I’m pretty sure there are other examples of that happening too. Second-time rematches seem to go roughly 50-50.
It’s *third*-time rematches (after losing twice) that are the problem…
