2010 Senate/Governor News: FL, NH, OH, MN, NY

FL:

As reported Florida’s Financial Officer Sink (D) will not run for US Senate but it appears Congressman Boyd (D) is expected to join the race along with fellow Democrat Congressman Meeks.  The DC paper The Hill is reporting DC Republicans are pushing Governor Crist to join the race and he so far has not squashed the idea.

NH

Gov Lynch is not going to challenge US Senator Gregg but both Democrat Congressional delegation members Hodes and Porter are still mulling the race.

OH

With the recent announcement that Ohio is having a Open Senate Seat it appears Republicans have already rallied behind Fmr Congressman Porter who has 1.8 million in his war chest from his congressional campaign which he can transfer to his Senate Race.

The Democrats appear to have a bloody primary: SOS Brunner is making preparations for a Senate run and Congresswoman Kaptur is possibly getting in as well.

MN

Fmr Senator Dayton announced today he is running for Governor.  Others who have filed with the board are Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner, state Sen. Tom Bakk, state Rep. Paul Thissen, state Sen. John Marty and frequent candidate Ole Savior.

Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty has said he will announce this year whether he will seek a third term.

NY

Fmr Congressman Rick Lazio is said to be mulling a run for Governor office. Lazio was Republican nominee who first challenged Clinton in her first run for US Senate office in her new state.

Funny that Dayton is running

He couldn’t cut it in the Senate and didn’t even run for a second term because having to show up as a job once in a while was really cramping his style. And how he wants to be governor?

Dayton?

Gods gift to Republicans.

I don’t understand how he can retire from the Senate, PUBLICLY GIVE HIMSELF AN “F” FOR HIS PERFORMANCE as Senator, and then run for Governor?

We’ll destroy him.

Anyhow, Crist is an interesting pick if he does want to run for Senate. I’d be fine with it, and the seat would be in the bag. That would leave McCollum to run for Governor. I think he’d be a very good Governor.

I’m still kind of hoping Jeb will change his mind.

The Dems are gunning for Pawlenty; he is our hope of taking out either Senate Democrat

Can't Pawlenty run for a 3rd term?

I don’t know if he wants to or not, but I was under the impression that he could.

not Porter.

Porter is the Frm. Rep. that might take on Harry Reid in Nevada.
