Meg Whitman.....

….is a good person and very smart in economic matters. I’d perfer someone more conservative. But with a budget crisis and us running nearly broke, she may be the best person for the job.

I just hope Whitman and Poizner...

Don’t do a murder/suicide thing in the primary.

I’d rather one of them run against Boxer. She’s never been terribly popular and wins mostly just because the state GOP is incompetent. She could be beaten if it’s a backlash year.

Draft Mitch Daniels for President ’12

Actually....

I really like this idea. Steve Poizner is a good man, but this election is going to be about three things;

1. The Runaway Budget

2. The Out of Control Spending

3. the California economy.

Poizner should go for the senate seat, and Whitman, who’s imminently more qualified on economic matters, should run for governor.

BTW....

I’m supporting both Poizner and Whitman at this point, I want to hear what they each have to say.

Blago would be a good fit for California governor

CA is desperate for cash, and who better to find new revenue streams than Blago?

Richardson is my #2 pick.

CA fear

I have some big fears at how many seats the Dem will try to pickup in CA after redistricting.

Holding this seat would be huge for us.

I’m not sure it’s even possible to redistrict away any more GOP districts in CA, at least, not without running a serious risk that a semi-competent CA GOP would flip a few seats in return. CA is pretty well gerrymandered into noncompetitiveness already.

The Dems Could Eliminate Most GOP Seats in CA...

IJB Tuesday, January 6th at 11:14AM EST (link)

…If they really wanted to.

It would require some crazy gerrimandering, having almost every congressional district stretching from the Bay Area, L.A. or the coast all the way to the NV & AZ borders, but it could probably be done.

The danger for Dems, and the reason they don’t do it, is that it would leave the Dems with a number of 55/45 or even 52/48 districts. And as neither 2010 or 2012 are likely to be friendly to Dems, I think they are afraid to risk an anti-Dem backlash that could shift a bunch of 52/48 districts to the GOP.

So, my guess is that CA loses a House district after reapportionment, the Dems eliminate a GOP House seat or two (probably someone like David Drier or Brian Bilbray), and everything else stays as is.
