Norm Coleman leads by only 6 votes now and MN Supreme Court today dealt a blow to Coleman camp and is allowing an additional 1600 absentee votes to be counted and they appear to favor Frankin.
Frankin a US Senator? What has this country come too?
Anyone on ground in MN can you give us some inside analysis?

It is tight
shakeit Thursday, December 18th at 8:13PM EST (link)Been watching the recount on the live feed. It is extremely close, it does not seem like anybody has all the numbers…so it is too close to call.
If the absentee ballots are counted that probably tips it too Franken. But we can stop them from being counted, by being unable to work out a deal with Franken and the SOS, on which ballots are legal to count.
Rule 11
Yil Thursday, December 18th at 11:49PM EST (link)As I understand it there are 4 listed reasons to reject an absentee ballot. The 5th pile is for everything that isn’t one of those 4 reasons. The reasons for rejection of the others will split into new piles including the “I can’t figure out why it was rejected” pile. Then the reason for each pile’s rejection can be voted upon. Those case are accepted are opened and counted.
Since the judge(s) warned of Rule 11 sanctions for doing what you proposed and not agreeing to anything, or trying to drag it out, I expect we’ll see a considerable number of the ballots counted. Perhaps not all of what’s in the 5th pile, but a lot.
I’m not sure what the final tally will be tomorrow, but if they finish as planned I think Franken will actually be winning at the end. I agree it’s hard to tell the actual totals at this point though.
From rejection rates it appears that Coleman’s disputed ballots were more frivolous than Franken’s. When that’s the case AND they are pulling the least disputed ballots before out already it’s not looking good for them.
Yeap
shakeit Thursday, December 18th at 11:55PM EST (link)I just read the court order.
It actually prevents the convassing board for certifying a count, unless those 5th pile ballots are counted.
So there would be no point in delaying the process, because then the board wont certify the winner.
And the senate will never seat Coleman without a certificate.
Tho they might seat Franken if no candidate has a certificate.
More frivolous
zuiko (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 2:20AM EST (link)Just because more of theirs got rejected doesn’t mean they were more frivolous. It seemed pretty obvious which way this was going to go when the canvassing board decided to throw out the hand count in a Minneapolis precinct and use the machine count instead because it was more favorable to Franken.

Lots of frivolity
deltar (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 9:10AM EST (link)Lots of frivolous challenges by both sides. Check out some of the challenged ballots at http://senaterecount.startribune.com/ballots/index.php
There’s a couple lessons here:
– Both sides are trying to game the system to their advantage. No surprise there.
– Some of the voters are clueless. Sadly, no surprise there either.
Yea there are plenty on both sides
zuiko (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 4:08PM EST (link)But there is no reason to say there were more frivilous ballots on the Coleman side just based on what the canvassing board is doing.

They were always going to "find" enough
Doc Holliday (Diary) Thursday, December 18th at 8:14PM EST (link)ballots to win. Of course Franken is an absolute joke. However, this is likely a trend. Since education in America has gone to pot, and more people know who won the last five American Idols than know who fought in the French and Indian War, have we not seen this coming?
We better get Bruce Willis, Stallone, Norris, Hank Jr., and Fraiser (I know his name) ready if we want to take any future seats
I guess instead of McCain/Palin we will have Selleck/Heaton (the chick from Everybody Knows Raymond) in 2012.

The GOP: The party that values your vote
smagar (Diary) Thursday, December 18th at 9:23PM EST (link)If Franken wins this thing, then ACORN has its first Senator.
Perhaps we have our unifying issue at last.
We will be the party that values your right to vote.
We will oppose Card Check
We will oppose measures that make voter fraud easy.
We will force the Dems to explain why they enable voter fraud.
And now, sadly, we will be able to point to a good man, Norm Coleman, who was denied reelection as a result of fraudulent ballots.
I hereby assert that Franken’s margin of victory will come from fraudulent ballots. From ballots cast by people not eligible to vote.
Here’s another issue we can pound, again and again over the next two years.
We can pound it over the heads of the Dems, and the MSM that so wanted the Dems to win that it didn’t pursue ACORN, and voter fraud in general, as aggressively as it should have.

What is the recourse
MNConservative (Diary) Thursday, December 18th at 11:56PM EST (link)when an election is stolen?
In a democratic republic we have elections instead of revolutions. When elections are rigged or stolen that system breaks down.
It depends...
shakeit Friday, December 19th at 12:01AM EST (link)define “stolen” ?
Prolly no recourse…but I guess it depends on the argument we make.
What argument would we make that this election was stolen?
Franken loses and then
GregInFla (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 1:42AM EST (link)he gets picked for the NY Senate seat.. or the Colorado one… or the Delaware one … or the Illlinois one … or the one??
Sorry, got carried away there. Notice that no Dem Senators from state w/GOP governors have gotten picked by Obama.

zuiko (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 2:16AM EST (link)It’s down to 2 votes now. They’ll probably find enough votes to put Franken over the top tomorrow.

Why are Republicans *always* surprised by Democratic dirty tricks?
Martin Knight (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 3:32AM EST (link)They’ve done this sort of thing before, they’ve been doing it for a long time, and they’ll continue to do it until Republicans finally get it into their thick skulls that you don’t win any points by following the rules when the other side clearly is not.
Al Franken is likely to be the next US Senator from MN because Norm Coleman and his people are stupidly assuming good faith on the part of clearly partisan actors in charge of this whole thing.
Actually only Republican politicians are "surprised"...

Frankin now up 256 votes
dld1717 (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 1:43PM EST (link)So lovely how they are stealing this seat.
Frankin is now up over Coleman 256 votes.
I have no idea how Coleman can get back up when the only ballots they are counting now are challenges from Coleman camp
Now that he's ahead, isn't the counting supposed to stop?
bk (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 4:11PM EST (link)Question about the recount
Neil Stevens (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 1:46PM EST (link)Have the Coleman people been as zealous about getting Coleman votes counted or Franken votes uncounted, as Franken’s have about his side?
If not, why not?
