After Senator Durbin, Senator Reid, and countless of other Illinois officials said they believed a special election should happen today despite attempts to bring a special election to the House floor for a vote, the Democratic leadership stonewalled the legislation, and adjourned until mid-January 2009.

They did vote on HR 1650 which begin impeachment proceeding and vote was 113 to 0, with four Republicans and one Democrat excused for the day.
