I don’t get why no one seems to care about congress races on this site

Congressman Davis appears to have lost by less then 500 votes

Precincts Reporting: 100% (236 of 236)

Winner Candidate Incumbent Votes Vote %
Phil Roe 25916 50%
David Davis X 25416 49%
Michael Sabri 325 1%

Is there any indication why an incumbent Republican lost in a primary?

Can Davis be classified a RINO…or is there something else involved?

The “Big Tent” analogy isn’t the correct one…the correct one is a MAGNET…we need to be a MAGNET that draws these independents in who are sick and tired of what’s going on in WashingtonFred Thompson

I've heard he was squishy on immigration...

Nothing like Chris Cannon, but not particularly strong on it either. Plus, the 2006 primary between Davis and Roe was pretty nasty from what I recall. So a little ideological battle and a little personal animosity has led to this upset.

Davis losing is a major shock considering the amount of ink used on the 9th and 7th district races. Cohen stomped anti-Semite Nikki Tinker in the 9th’s Dem primary and Marsha Blackburn easily defeated Tom Leatherwood 62-38 in the 7th GOP primary despite much Memphis media support for Leatherwood.

Little attention was paid to the 1st district, but it has proved to be the race that will grab the most attention after all.

Roe beating Davis appears to be a good thing

It seems like there were some ethical questions about a donor to Davis.

I think the GOP learned from 2006 that if you have someone with ethical issues that you either dump them in the primary or the voters will dump them in the general.

Davis won this district with 61% in 2006 over a Democrat so his certainly isn’t likely to shift to the Dems now.

Roe is the next Congressman for sure

This is probably the most Republican district in the entire state. Even when Democrats ruled Tennessee and the rest of the South, the 1st district was electing Republicans to the House.

I need to do some research but I think this is one of many squish incumbents that have been shown the door during the primaries!

Let the bloodletting continue I say!
