I’ve just been over to The912Project and I saw this,Tea Party Cancelled By City… Why? I read the story,
CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A tea party to protest government spending and taxing is canceled. Canceled by the government.
Why? They feel too many people could show-up.
Lynn Rosko planned to hold a tax payer tea party at Jaycee Park in Cape Coral on April 1st. The idea was announced at a Cape Coral City Council meeting, then an e-mail blast by the Republican Party and it was mentioned in the local media.
With all of that attention, the City of Cape Coral felt there could be more than 500 people attending the tea party.

I read trough most of the comments and this one sums it up best;
Fed up with the scum wrote …
This is just one more way to silence us as has been exercised by every totalatarian government throughout history. Dictators cannot stand opposition. This is just the beginning, so stand up to them now or accept subservience as a way of life. They are scared to death of this movement. DO NOT give in. If you bring the city to a halt, so-be-it. It it time for the silent majority to make itself heard. We have lost enough of our rights to these goons; let’s take them back!!
Now if I lived anywhere near Cape Coral, which I don’t I would go out of my way to show up anyway, and I surgest that anybody who does, does just show up.
Maybe they can invite Daniel Hannan to come and speak for them.
I have to say that if the government up here in Michigan tried the same stunt, I would gladly spend a night in the clink to protest their decision.

The Government may cancel protests, or at least...
Wubbies World (Diary) Saturday, March 28th at 5:00PM EST (link)… cancel the permit, but they cannot stop people from using a public park. I would just show up anyway. I would spend a night in jail just to do it.
These “tolerance” fascists don’t tolerate dissent when it comes to their love of equality. They want us to shut up and love them and what they do, or we will be silenced.
I don’t think so!

I realize that the Cape Coral City Council isn’t Congress, but no one said the States and their subsidiary governments are not beholden to the Constitution. At least, no one who has been taken seriously.

I'll bet you could get a serious argument
Achance (Diary) Sunday, March 29th at 8:46AM EST (link)from serious conservatives about to what if any degree the Bill of Rights is incorporated and controls the actions of states as opposed to the actions of the federal government.
That said, most state constitutions articulate most of the Bill of Rights, so the difference may simply be in what courthouse you go to.

I would demur to the Florida Constitution

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson

Why do they require a permit?
mom2oneson (Diary) Sunday, March 29th at 2:21AM EST (link)Is it because it’s in a public area instead of a church or stadium?
Why do they want her to have a permit and insurance? Is getting the permit the same as asking for permission?
As I understand it, and I'm no legal eagle,
djemi (Diary) Sunday, March 29th at 8:40AM EST (link)its all to do with the safty of the attendees and the allocation of state/city resources to ensure that safty.

larueladue (Diary) Monday, March 30th at 11:00AM EST (link)No permits, no insurance, no public record “accountable” leaders to jail, nothing to give the government any way to stop this before it occurs. No rules, are these are used to marginalize the message!
We need to use anonymous email (“spam”), out-of-country websites, hand bills, church annoucements, friend-to-friend conversation, anything to get the word out on these protests. We need to let them know that they will not, cannot stop us!
