I love doing them (and now having an outlet for them instead of just on my website).

Its funny, but...

Its funny, but you have to admit, it is based off of a false premise, considering that there is no forced volunteerism in the bill that it was brought up in.
http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2009/mar/31/mandatory-volunteerism-nope/

I respectfully disagree…

Didn't it require "service hours" to graduate from schools that get Federal aid?

N/T

Obama was The One in 2008.
He’ll be a BIGGER one in 2012.

if you read the article

I think the thing was, that there was a line to produce a committee to create suggestions for getting people more involved in service projects, and it mentioned a few options to investigate the usefulness of, one of which was mandatory service hours in High School. However, it was non-binding, and, if I remember correctly, I believe that line was taken out of the bill.

Though, I could be wrong, read the article I posted, that should be more accurate.

I respectfully disagree…

I'm not gonna read the article.

The larger and more important point here is that once legislated it won’t be undone without a massive revolution in the legislative body.

Regardless of what any particular politician claims about something, the reality that something could happen is never further away than the next power hungry politician who comes along. It’s the potential for abuse that is left to fester that allow things to come to pass that should never be. And the door is open to using these “conscripts” in the most atrocious ways.

It’s the same with the abortion laws, which are an assault on life even before it has a chance to flourish. Now that Obama has undone much of what Bush did in terms of abortion, with all the calls for population control, can you not see that someone, somewhere, someday will decide that only one child per couple is the way to go, as China has been doing for years now? The door has been left open for that to happen now, considering the forced taxes to pay for the voluntary ones now.

Even if it doesn’t happen by Obama’s hand, it has been set up in such a way that it can be done easily. That goes for every piece of legislation with every president before and after him as well.

there will be no lobyists in my administration, and…there will be no earmarks in any bill I sign, etc.
