The #1 Threat to Our National Security is Not What You Think

Promoted from the diaries. – ed.

Our crushing $14 trillion national debt is as much a national security threat as it is an economic disaster.  According to Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mike Mullen, “The most significant threat to our national security is our debt.” Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has said, “We can’t have a strong military if we have a weak economy.” Even Barack Obama said in 2006 as a Senator that “increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally.”

The irresponsible policies that the Obama Administration has instituted over the past two-and-a-half-years have hastened our descent into bankruptcy, put the fiscal well-being of future generations of Americans in jeopardy, and left us at the mercy of foreign creditors who do not have our best interests in mind.

Many nations own our enormous amounts of debt, some of which are nefarious in nature – like China, Russia, and OPEC.  If these countries sell off our debt, they can wield great power over America. Now more than ever, America needs a Commander-in-Chief who will act boldly to solve our financial crisis, but President Obama has not led when it comes to our national debt.

Watch the video below to learn why the #1 threat to our national security is our debt and who owns it:

Administration Like Gang Who Can’t Shoot Straight, Thankfully SEALs Can

Promoted from the diaries. – caleb

It has been over a week since the Navy SEALs conducted the successful raid that killed Osama bin Laden. One would think the Obama Administration would have had a banner week since the successful operation against the man who killed nearly 3,000 people almost ten years ago. Unfortunately, like everything else the Obama Administration is a part of, they have mucked up what should have been the pinnacle of President Obama’s first term.

It started out with the Obama Administration eagerly getting out the details of the operation before the Navy SEALs were debriefed on their successful mission. The first report was that bin Laden fired on the SEALs and used a woman, possibly his wife, as a human shield. Both statements had to be walked back by the much maligned White House Press Secretary Jay Carney on Tuesday, when he talked from a script giving the “official” account.

Which takes us to the death photo of Osama bin Laden and its possible release. CIA Director Leon Panetta said in an interview with NBC News last Tuesday, “The government obviously has been talking about how best to do this, but I don’t think there was any question that ultimately a photograph would be presented to the public.” Nearly 1,500 people voted in our Facebook poll asking whether the Obama Administration should release the photo, and an overwhelming majority said YES.  Unfortunately, it fell on deaf ears.  Last Wednesday, one day removed from the Panetta pronouncement, Jay Carney went back to the podium and said that President Obama decided against releasing the death photo of Osama bin Laden.

At that point, I had seen enough.  Citizens United submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the relevant agencies for the death photos of Osama bin Laden and the corresponding video of his burial at sea.

The 800 Pound Debt Gorilla Looms Larger With President Obama’s Budget

President Obama’s FY-2012 budget shows a failure of leadership by a man who claimed that he would change the way Washington works. Red ink continues to be spilled at record rates with no end in sight and yet President Obama continues to ignore the 800 pound gorilla in the room – our climbing $14 trillion national debt.

America is sinking deeper and deeper into debt, but the President’s own budget projects that the federal debt will top $15 trillion this year – equal to the size of our entire economy – and will reach $21 trillion within five years time! President Obama’s budget will spend $3.8 trillion this year; that correlates to 25.3 percent of our Gross Domestic Product, the highest since World War II. The Democrat chairman of President Obama’s very own debt commission, Erskine Bowles, said the budget released today is “nowhere near where they have to go to resolve our fiscal nightmare.” America must get its fiscal house in order, or our economy will sink into a financial abyss.

President Obama states, “We need to act now to secure and strengthen Social Security for future generations,” but he fails to lay out a clear and precise plan on how he would reform Social Security and Medicare. These entitlement programs are draining America’s resources at an alarming rate. Nobody is saying that this is an easy fix, but not even addressing it in a budget plan is a serious oversight by the Obama Administration. President Obama has chosen his short term election prospects over doing what is right for future generations. He just continues to kick the debt crisis can down the road, but at some point that can will fall off the cliff. When that happens, the American people will remember this failure of leadership.

Citizens United released a short video highlighting the issue of the national debt and the new federal budget. There was an 800 pound gorilla in the room while the Obama Administration was drafting its budget, but they looked the other way when it came to addressing it with meaningful spending cuts and entitlement reform. When will President Obama show real leadership on fiscal issues? How big will the debt gorilla get before something is done? Please pass this video along to your family and friends. We must get the word out about this fiscal crisis. President Obama continues to ignore the 800 pound gorilla in Washington, at our peril.

Reagan and Obama – NO COMPARISON

Promoted from the diaries – mgmt

Time Magazine is out this week with a photoshopped cover of President Ronald Reagan with his arm around President Barack Obama. This manipulated image is as outrageous as it is factually dishonest.

Both men may share the same title, but the way they view America and the world is quite different. The differences are even starker when you hear Reagan and Obama speaking about America.

Citizens United has produced a short video showing that there is no comparison between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama. Watch our video and see for yourself:

State of the Union: Who’s Sitting with the 800 lb. Gorilla?

Tonight the President delivers his State of the Union Address to the nation. This annual event brings representatives from all three branches of government into the Capitol at the same time. But there is another figure looming that has been ignored for far too long. The national debt – currently at $14 trillion and counting – is the 800 pound gorilla in the room.

There will be an 800 pound gorilla standing in the well of the House tonight that President Obama will not want to talk about. All indications so far are that the President will just request more taxpayer money to spend on funding programs that will help his reelection efforts and feed the debt gorilla.
