The highlight of the Redstate Gathering was Liz Cheney’s address to us, discussing world events and the involvement of the Obama administration in them. She was a very engaging speaker, and the crowd enjoyed it immensely. Afterward, she was very gracious with her time, posing for pictures with the attendees.

Just a couple technical notes, however. The reason I use Vimeo and not YouTube, is that video of this length (31 minutes) and quality (shot in 1080i) can not be uploaded to YouTube. It is too big.
Additionally, Vimeo Flash conversion is superior to YouTube’s, resulting in much better video quality. Vimeo’s embedment tools and playback control are also superior to YouTube’s. Finally, Vimeo actually conforms to the fair use laws, rather than being beholden to the RIAA (not that that matters in this case, but it will in a few days).
I suggest that everyone just be patient, I have a lot of video to upload, and it takes time to roll it out (this one clip took 6 hours of processing to make it available here). Once the presentations from Saturday are up, I will provide clips that “can be taken viral”, which will be appropriate for YouTube (yes I have an account there too). But I also intend to produce true Hidef versions of choice items, which can’t be supported by YouTube.
Oh, I also have a job that gets in the way just a tad.

Just trying to explain how I got these clips to YouTube. Old news is just that — it’s old. The video clips shot by the attendees at the town hall meetings with their congresscritters are all over the internet and, hence, making their way onto local and national mainstream media TV broadcasts, because they are timely. It’s great to have great video, but not so great if it’s “old news.”
I believe all of us would be able to contribute more to the debate if we all carried with us to any meeting with “the other side” a small, unobtrusive digital video recorder ready to be turned on when news the mainstream media does not want to see the light of day is being made.

These are for serious contemplation of issues, not getting my YouTube hit count up.
If I want something to be timely and fast, I’d use my iPhone for that, just like Erick did.
But long form high quality video also has value, especially as a way of maintaining an archive as some of these races become more intense.

So now that full disclosure is out of the way, what would her personal opinion on gay “marriage” matter here? [which I am adamantly, unalterably opposed to, for the record, an in fact refuse even to use the term without scare quotes] What “deal” is there to be broken?
This is a speech. You just got through saying you love her appearances on TV. She has proposed no “deal”, at least in terms of offering herself up for leadership, for a political position, or anything like that. Are you saying that if you find she’s in favor of gay “marriage” you’ll no longer enjoy or watch her appearances on TV? Good, then say that, and suit yourself. But there’s no “deal” here.
And just for the record, and because I have the feeling it’ll cheese you off just a bit : Dick Cheney is a CONSUMATE patriot and American, and he may have been the best executive-branch leader we’ve had in a century. I would vote for, donate money to, and campaign for him any time, any place. And that’s while knowing his views on gay “marriage”.
