Letterman On Palin’s Daughter

Short clip here and below. So much for the Chelsea Clinton rule – and well beyond. Bristol Palin is eighteen and not even in politics. That didn’t stop Letterman last night when he joked that “she got knocked-up” by Alex Rodriguez at the Yankee game the Alaska Gov recently attended.

I’m not a prude by any means. But this is inappropriate and unnecessary enough to take exception to it. Letterman’s only gotten increasingly bitter over not getting The Tonight Show as he’s aged. It shows. And I imagine the McCain diss during the campaign only fed into his ego problems. Talk about inadequate. He never really did best Leno who recently retired a seemingly happy guy.

Years ago I had a friend who had some personal dealings with him before he was doing much more than filling in on the Carson show on occasion. The reviews weren’t very good at all. Unfortunately, I suspect the Letterman we’re seeing now isn’t that far from who he actually is. Pretty pathetic in my opinion.

Suppose you were manure, and suppose you were David Letterman; but I repeat myself.

not even in politics

mom2oneson (Diary) Tuesday, June 9th at 12:40PM EST (link)

He was wrong. I have a problem with the not even in politics part.. She accpeted a job to speak on an issue related to her mother’s campaign and started going on talk shows. I think I saw her on a magazine cover at the grocery store with her infant. This was a picture she posed for.
I believe Rush and McCain also made fun of Chelsea, who was a minor.

I think that advocating for a cause

itrytobenice (Diary) Tuesday, June 9th at 4:19PM EST (link)

which would meet with the approval of 95% of the American public (the other 5% not being sentient), in particular advocating against unmarried teen pregnancy is hardly politics.

If I advocate against speeding through school zones and get an interview in a prominent publication, am I therefore fair game to late night comics? Even if the jokes are crude and impolite?

Pretty low bar there.

And I have never heard public jokes about Chelsea. Even though I was asked one time, “What do you get when you cross a crooked politician with a crooked lawyer?” Answer: Chelsea Clinton.

What Bristol Palin has dealt with does not even come close.

Traditionally, the Left goes crazy while out of power. This time, they’re going crazy while in power, because they know this is all fleeting. And this next time, they’re going for good. The end is nigh for Liberalism.

Who was wrong

So any 18 year old female in public is fair game for the lowest of humor? If Obama is in 8 years, how old will his daughters be? Plenty of material to look forward to there, I bet. I thought we weren’t even supposed to attack Michelle for anything personal?

As for Rush, I didn’t think his Chelsea stuff represented some of his finer moments. And McCain told a joke – in private. Revealing of his character perhaps, but hardly the same thing.

I wrote he was wrong nt

Sarah Palin Visits Yankee Stadium

NEW YORK (AP) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has called for measures to make life better for people with developmental disabilities during a speech in New York.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate’s son Trig has Down syndrome.

Palin says God has shown her family through the example of her son that “every single person has purpose no matter their developmental abilities.”

Palin was being honored Sunday at an anniversary celebration for the Long Island-based Independent Group Home Living Inc. after attending a New York Yankees game. She was joined by her husband, daughter Willow and a sister.

More than 20,000 people saw Palin on Saturday in upstate Auburn, where she helped celebrate Founder’s Day and raise money for a museum honoring William Seward, the secretary of state who acquired Alaska for the United States.

Thanks

Thanks for clarifying. As I just commented on my blog, I recall how wrong it was for Imus to diss some young female B-ball players because they had feelings.

Glad we don’t have those on our side I guess. The double standard of the libs is really starting to grate.

Not just a double standard, it is "partisan tolerance"

Beaglescout (Diary) Tuesday, June 9th at 3:20PM EST (link)

And the left thinks that “partisan tolerance”, meaning the practice of tolerating everything when it comes from a the sinister side of politics and tolerating nothing when it comes from the dexter side. That’s why when a Republican says “hi” the Democrats and the media, but I repeat myself (BIRM), scream in fury at the insult, but when a Democrat robs a Republican’s kid of her lunch money the Democrats & media (BIRM) excuse it as nothing.

Partisan tolerance was thought up by Herbert Marcuse, formerly of the Frankfurt School, and became a big thing in the culture during the 60s.

BTW, welcome to RedState. I hadn’t seen you post here before.

Please excuse my sentence fragment. It happens.

The "dexter" side?

Flagstaff (Diary) Tuesday, June 9th at 4:58PM EST (link)

Did you coin a phrase, and is it based on the TV character?

“The press is so powerful in its image-making role that it can make a criminal look like he’s the victim and make the victim look like he’s the criminal. If you aren’t careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”– Malcolm X, Audubon Ballroom, December 13, 1964

Straight from the Latin

Beaglescout (Diary) Wednesday, June 10th at 12:58AM EST (link)

I was just referring to dexter and sinister, the latin (?) words for right and left.

I find Dexter pretty sickening. He’s a serial killer.

“Yeah, but he’s so cute and muscley, and he only kills other serial killers!”

…Whom he murders and dismembers sadistically using a bag full of grotesque medical tools. I hate it for the way it desensitizes viewers to sadistic torture-murders, and violence in general, by making a sociopathic serial killer sympathetic. It teaches viewers that cold-blooded sadistic torture-murder can be a good thing, if it’s used on the correct target.

Plus it’s just splatter punk. I like my horror with a twist, like the Exorcist, Omen, Rosemary’s Baby, Nightmare on Elm Street, Videodrome, Cloverfield, Hellraiser, or even Phantasm.

“A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one.”

Didn't know that about dexter and sinister.

Flagstaff (Diary) Wednesday, June 10th at 5:27PM EST (link)

Translates well into Spanish, though.

I haven’t ever watched Dexter. Seemed to be everything I hate in entertainment. No redeeming feature at all.

Criminal Minds is bad enough, but sometimes interesting.
