Even the NYT is poking fun at the Dems: No Plan Yet, But Democrats Remain Confident on Health Care. Meanwhile, Senator-Louisiana-Purchase says ObamaCare “is on life support.”

earlgrey (Diary) Friday, January 29th at 1:22PM EST (link)Any thoughts on senator kyl’s statement yesterday that dems in the Senate are ready to do reconciliation?
At the same time rahm has told NYT that health care will wait until after the jobs and bank bills. Axelrod folllows with we can’t wait long on health care.
Who is in charge?
I wouldn't put it pass the Dems in the Senate
Jonbontx Friday, January 29th at 2:24PM EST (link)to use reconciliation, but they have to know the political ramifications if they go that route. It talkes away the need for 60 votes to override a veto (created with 51, taken away with 51). Also, shoiuld the GOP take over the Senate it allows them to use reconciliation when they want. It also shows the electorate what their congress critters really think of them, which won’t play out well during an election year.
Axelrod hasn't got a clue about how to pass legislation
Dan Perrin (Diary) Friday, January 29th at 4:46PM EST (link)He is the source of “we cannot walk away” from health care stuff the President has been saying.
The Speaker is (obviously) equally tone-deaf.
If they try it, and I do not think they will try it — then they will be walking into a political ambush.
Did you see the yellow lines bottom out when the President was speaking about health care on CNN during the state of the union?
What planet does this woman live on?
conservative_faction Friday, January 29th at 1:23PM EST (link)Just when I think that I have figured out the left, I keep second guessing myself.
If they pass it, which is unlikely, they will be destroyed come election day. If they don’t pass it, they will still be destroyed come election day. Either way, they lose.
Of course we know that this is all about controlling our lives. This is what the statists always seek to do in the end. What I don’t get is what is the point of control if you won’t be in office to enjoy the results when it is all over?

doublebarreled Friday, January 29th at 1:35PM EST (link)is to shoot it in the head.
Now, I’m not advocating that literally, let me be clear.
The MA election was the head shot for the current Healthcare Reform bill and was plainly evident to anyone with a brain.
Apparently, the HCR zombie must have been created using some sort of modified T-Virus. Let’s call it the D-Virus. And apparently the D-Virus relocated the HCR zombies brain to the posterior, making it harder to kill.
Hopefully, November 2010 will be THAT final, swift kick in the *** that will finally kill it dead.

doublebarreled Friday, January 29th at 1:28PM EST (link)…were ever THIS committed to suicide. The problem is that if they really go nuclear and use reconciliation then we’re going to be forced to drink the Kool-Aid right along with them.
It’s seems all we can do at this point is to continue to call our elected officials and tell them we don’t want this. Calling and leaving VM, e-mails unreplied to, being ignored over and over is getting really old.
Perhaps this constant teeter totter of threatening to use reconciliation and then saying it’s dead is a strategy to wear us down so that eventually the grass roots just ignores the rhetoric and after a while our vigilance falters, the House schedules a Saturday vote, turns off the phones and passes this abomination.
We’re on the verge of some sort of revolution, either way. Either it will be a Statist triumph or a renewal of Conservative principals of limited government. You know which one I’m hoping for.

One of the main thoughts . . .
Composer_Man Friday, January 29th at 1:58PM EST (link)Getting me through the trying times is the possibility that this woman could no longer be the Speaker of the House after the elections in about 9 short months. To me, she is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the liberal/statist/Democrat view of the world, and I’m finding it very difficult to do my Christian duty to love and pray for my enemies.
She appears to be completely untethered from reality, but I think she knows EXACTLY what is going on. She is determined to talk this bill back to life and ram it through NO MATTER WHAT. I keep thinking I’m hearing the fat lady warming up in the green room, but it turns out to be just my own wishful thinking.
When will our long national nightmare end?!

sta46 Friday, January 29th at 2:01PM EST (link)SOMEONE in the House needs to do the “presenting a question of privilege ti declare the speakership vacant” thing and send her and all her facelifts back to Nappa.
It interested me to note that in one of the articles on CA going to a state-run single payer system (which on face value would seem like financial suicide for an already broke state) one of the reasons apparantly given in the state legislature for doing this was to keep any/all fed health care out of the state… kind of a pre-emptive states rights thing. Hmmmm….

Rush warned us all
nancylee Friday, January 29th at 2:08PM EST (link)…Just a few minutes ago, that they’re still thinking about this and trying to figure out how to pass this grotesque monstrosity. He says to stay alert, because health care is the central issue of Obama’s presidency.
We all know the implementation of Obama’s statist agenda depends on it, so they’re going to pull out all the stops. We need to keep calling our Representatives and keep them scared about their own re-election if we don’t want this horrible bill crammed down our throats.
I can’t do as much as others. I have a Republican as a Representative, but my senators (small s. I can’t stand either of them) are Boxer and Feinstein. Their assistants answer the phone and I can hear the sneer in their voices whenever I call them, but I keep calling anyway. I have to depend on others to lobby their Representatives for me. Please keep it up. I have never spent a more miserable year with the “healthcare” bill hanging over my head.
Nancy Pelosi may be living in an alternate universe, but she’s in a position to cause a lot of pain to the rest of us. Keep calling.

The people cannot allow this to transpire. If we do, then we are placed into the position of trying to tear it down once it is enacted, which would be an infinitely more difficult task. We have to stop them from doing this, plain and simple. Liberty and everything good it has brought to Americans throughout our history depend on it.

They are both zealous and stupid, which is a frightening combination
They will try to sneak/ram this through again before November any way possible
The sad truth is that now they know they’re lame ducks, they know they’re hosed in the polls either way– the irony is that now that their party is in such bad shape going into Nov, they actually might try to push harder for this bill thinking it will pay off for them in the end
Plouffe is behind this– he basically said they are screwed whether they do or don’t pass it, so they might as well pass it and hope it pays off for them in future election cycles
I think they are so delusional and desperate, they actually still think they’re better off ramming it through
Thank you, Mr Perrin, for keeping me sane with all this ridiculous drama the past year
