U.S. Senate Phone System Collapses

From a reliable staffer:

Phone calls are not going through at all now. Try calling my phone or any phone. It is not even the switchboard anymore. The entire Senate phone system has collapsed.

Keep melting the phones!

I predict the official Dem line is as follows

“I’ve been told that many of my constituents who support health care reform have had trouble getting through. The support is overwhelming.”

I second that prediction.

Well, that definitely deserves a call.

Might as well let some senaotrs know that we’re having trouble getting through and if they vote for cloture, a phone system collapse will be nothing like the collapse of their chances to stay around after 2010.

i'm doubling up now.

The primary process is FLAWED. Two states should not decide our candidate.

Dan, Does it really?

GregInFla (Diary) Saturday, November 21st at 12:16AM EST (link)

How much does it really mean? Do these guys and gals there care? This is a serious question. I know that many times I have to wonder about the impact. There were tens of thousands who showed up two weeks ago, and many more on 9/12.

Lincoln's phone

DerKrieger (Diary) Friday, November 20th at 7:27PM EST (link)

…has been busy ALL day. I’ve written to her, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, the WSJ, and two of the GOP candidates vying for Lincoln’s seat and told them all that Lincoln should be investigated if she votes for this because if she does then it should be obvious that she is either going to receive a financial payoff or a high profile, high paying job when she loses next year. It’s disgusting that these people would sell us into slavery for personal gain. They should all be hanged in public.

Go to http://www.senate.gov and click on your state to find your senator, then send an email that says vote AGAINST all cloture votes.

…I’ve got her and Pryor both on speed dial on my cell phone. No joke. I call their offices at least 3 times a week every week and have been since health care and cap & trade first came up. Their staffs should know me on a first name basis by now.

Emails Can Work

cjasofla (Diary) Friday, November 20th at 9:12PM EST (link)

Here’s one I sent to Sen. Bill Nelson of FL. I can’t wait to see his answer about enrolling himself in the public option!

Dear Senator Nelson:

Please vote “no” on the cloture motion to proceed with debate on healthcare.

Vote “no” to proceed to debate.

Vote “no” to end debate should debate proceed.

Vote “no” to bankrupt this country and steal the future from our children and grand children.

The Congressional Research Service has indicated that 97% of bills involving a vote to proceed with debate have passed, therefore a vote to proceed is a “yes” vote for the socialist healthcare plan.

In the event that you plan to vote “yes” to proceed will you also propose an amendment that requires Members of Congress to enroll in the public option without exception? Afterall, if this bill is good for America, it should be good for you too.

Inexperienced she appeared compared to the Senator from LA. I told her that I was opposed to the health care bill. However, if she did vote for it, I expected her to bring home much more than the $100 Million Mary Landrieu is brring home to her constiruents.

If they DO pass it, what’s the chance the Republican Congress can declare it unconstitutional in 2010 or are we stuck with it forever?

IF it passes,

Duane White (Diary) Saturday, November 21st at 2:28AM EST (link)

I believe the only chance we have to defeat it will be in the courts. The left is suing the government all the time. If health care passes, it will be time for us to challenge the constitutionality of this thing before the supreme court.

Propose your own amendments with letterhead that could pass for an unknown fringe liberal advocacy group’s and they might even read part of your fax before tossing it. Since these guys aren’t reading or writing the bills that they vote upon, it’s conceivable that random pieces of paper floating around the Senate could end up included in whatever sausage they finally churn out. “Friends of Rangel Advocating Urban Development” would be my first suggestion. :-D

Fraud

politicaljules (Diary) Saturday, November 21st at 1:24AM EST (link)

As corrupt as we have seen the demonrat party the pas decade, I would not be surprised if they had something to do with shutting down the phone lines to silence the conservative voices.

I do not see this as a good thing at all.

2012 ANYBODY BUT OBAMA

I wondered too

mom2oneson (Diary) Saturday, November 21st at 1:45AM EST (link)

Amazing how pizza stores with four lines don’t shut down on Christmas Eve or Super Bowl day with half a city trying to order but our lines to congress shut down?
Secondly I can’t believe they use voicemail, why not hire humans to greet people and take a message, it is so unprofessional. There are call centers with enough scalability to handle high volume days like today.

That's the first thing that crossed my mind.

Duane White (Diary) Saturday, November 21st at 2:30AM EST (link)

It would not surprise me at all to find out that the phone lines had been shut down on purpose. Somehow we’re gong to have to find a way to deliver the message whether the phone rings or not.

They will do what they will do

chicagobluesgirl (Diary) Saturday, November 21st at 3:03AM EST (link)

So we need a plan B.

We had town hall meetings and thousands of us came.
We marched on local political offices and fundraisers and even news channels.
We boycotted. We donated and donated and donated again.
We marched again, 2 million of us, on Washington DC.
We confronted them in the halls of their workplace on capital hill.
We faxed. We called. We mailed and emailed.
No matter, they will do what they will do because it is not about us, their constituents. It is about them and control and power and pay-offs and corruption. For them, it is a way of life and they will do what they will do.

So we must do what we can do and that is fight their re-election next November and work to defeat however we can their unconstitutional mandates. even if and after they are passed.
That is our PLAN B.

Lincoln still a busy signal.

Landrrieu’s mailbox full.

Will keep calling DC and locals intermittently until 8pm.
