I’ve seen Ben Nelson in action long enough to know that he likes to talk a big game about fiscal responsibility, but he’s a HUGE fan of earmarks and is always willing to listen to anyone claiming they can sweeten the pot for him if he breaks a way on a bill.
I’ll continue to call his office and send e-mails, but I’m not putting my faith in him at all until after this battle is over.

contact your Senator is to hold a demonstration in front of his office in your State Capital, film it, and put the highlights on youtube and invite the media.

Get the tea partiers and the pro-lifers and the Chamber of Commerce and the anti-taxers and the Second Amendment right guys and the Seniors worried about Medicare — United Seniors or 60+ groups and demonstrate!

Failing that, faxes and phone calls and emails are good, so are letters to the editor.

votes, but now he has 57, he had the gang of six, now no gang of six, he had unified (mostly) Dems in the House, now he has 64 votes for pro-life restrictions and 39 Dems against even with pro-life restrictions, not to mention threats from pro-abortion Dems to kill the bill if the pro-life restrictions are not removed.

especially in an election year, it just sits there getting picked at and theres alot of picking going on in the house version. If harry doesnt get a vote to start debate by the xmas break, i’d say its over for obamacare in this congress.

Here’s a question: What’s the most effective method of contacting your Senator? Do they and their staff pay more attention to one or the other: E-mail, phone calls, fax, snail mail?

And what about contacting their DC office or regional offices?

…but if we begin to believe that the fix is in no matter what we do, then we have no hope. If we become fatalistic then we stop fighting, and then there is truly nothing to stop them. In too many conservative blogs and message boards I have seen people ascribe near-godlike powers to the Left; if I wanted to see a bunch of people who had already given up and accepted defeat before the fight had even begun I’d go hang around Free Republic.

Dan Perrin’s been doing a fantastic job laying out the facts on health-deform as we know them, and we can only operate based on what we do know. Time is on our side and the Democrat Party is split far more deeply than the major media will ever report. This whole thing was, after all, supposed to have been a done deal by August. I like our chances.

If they get 4 or 5 seats in the Senate and a good 30 in the House, they have completely neutered the Democrats agenda. Nothing will get through a House that is that narrowly divided (its already barely majoritarian with 250+ seats for the Dems). Plus, with 45 Senators, McConnell can filibuster almost everything.

The advantage to leaving the Dems in power (but with severely reduced majorities) is that we can stop this stuff, but the Dems will still get all the blame come 2012. Otherwise, Obama will finally have his biggest strawman to blame… a GOP Congress.
