They said they wouldn’t vote for ANY bill without a strong public option so that puts Obama in a tough position: he either angers his base or Middle America, seems he is trying to go with the former which may depress voter turnout and enthusiasm especially for Congressional Dems.

All in all, this is looking like a quintessential Pyrrhic “victory” (assuming something does get passed) which will cost Obama and the Left dearly in the next elections. I can’t wait!

I, your lovable, huggable EPU, have been saying this since BEFORE THE AUGUST RECESS. By hook and crook, the Dems will find a way to buy off 1 vote in the Senate, and do whatever is necessary to keep their last 2 or 3 recalcitrant Dems on board at least for cloture.

But it WILL FAIL in the House. It ALWAYS was going to fail in the House. Pelosi, Hoyer, Murtha, and gang have never had control of their herd of cats, and all those blue dogs are fully aware that voting for this is the end of their career of having their snouts at the public trough.

Whether or not Pelosi has the votes to pass Obamacare out of the House isn’t as important to the Obamacrats as it is to extend and vacillate the debate from one side to another to pick up as much campaign money as possible.

Forget term limits, For real campaign finance reform, politicians should not be allowed to run for office while holding office. They ought to take a couple years off between offices — return to the real world to get regrounded on realities. If this weren’t about tweaking political issues to raise money for the next election, these sorts of complex problems would have been solved a long time ago.
