Gallup: Nine Month Graph of Congressional Approval Rating

Do you think that the correlation between pushing hard on ObamaCare and the dropping approval rating has occurred to the Democrats, or do you think they really care what the public thinks?

If only this translated into actual changes in representation...

And as larueladue says above it will have to translate into deep losses in 2010, or they’ll have every reason not to care in the future. I’m not convinced they’re certain it will. All their favorite media sources are doing everything they can to convince them it won’t.

I am not sure the numbers mean what you think they do… looking at http://www.gallup.com/poll/123491/Approval-Congress-Falls-21-Driven-Democrats.aspx you will find…

“The current drop in overall job approval to 21% particularly reflects a substantial drop in approval among Democrats…

Democrats approval dropped 18 points in just the last month, while republican support has only dropped 7 points in the same time frame….

Sounds more like democrats are upset with their own party… or as gallop puts it…

Democrats may be disappointed that Congress hasn’t followed through with more progress on that legislation this fall.

Plummeting approval among their own partisans is one of the necessary prerequisites to a blow-out loss.

Just look at the GOP and 2006/2008…

oh I agree...

So far it looks like Democrats are wanting to be back in the minority, but the current situation is tenuous at best. If democrats happen to actually push some of this legislation through you will likely see their approval go up.

Since most of the lost support is democrat support it is not necessarily that hard for the democratic party to get it back.

Either way though I suspect 2010 and 2012 will likely tip one way or another purely based on the economy. If the economy still sucks in 2010 the republicans will win, if its humming along the democrats will likely win.
