There is a significant ratio between amendments that have been filed and amendments that are offered by Senators during mark-up, say for every five to ten amendments filed, one will be offered.

Replace the word ‘fee’ with ‘tax’. Lets call a spade a spade, shall we?

Don’t leave the party, hijack it back!

The only poll that counts is the one at the ballot box.

I don’t want to be Reagan. I want to be a Chance/Soros hybrid.

Now THAT's a racist comment if ever I read one. nt

Replace the entire text of America’s Healthy Future Act of 2009...

with Title V of H.R. 3400 and move forward from that non-negotiable point.

“Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so.” – Ronald Reagan

Great Idea...

At least the Senate Committee is going through the motions of listening to Republican amendments rather than the House Committees’ stonewalling.

We must keep up the pressure.

Nothing less than victory is acceptable.

Nothing less than complete defeat of more Liberal Incremental-ism to full Socialized Medicine is acceptable (nt)

It's quite frightening to see...

…so many apparently serious plans for repainting and waxing the airplane when all four engines have quit.

Government “health care” at the federal level is not constitutional. Period. Full stop.

I would send 535 copies of the Constitution to Capitol Hill, but that would do no good. I mean, every one of those people has an office full of complimentary copies, and yet they still refuse to read it themselves.

Note to Congress: Don’t be afraid of the Constitution; it’s really quite easy to read. Try it some time. Really. G-wan.

Standard-bearer for grouchy curmudgeonry since, oh, 1975 or so.

I like Cornyn #12 in the first group

I’ve harped on this forgotten (i.e. broken) Obama campaign promise here many times. It looks like Cornyn is looking to call his bluff. Nice move! Of course the Dems will kill this amendment.

Cornyn Amendment #F12 to America?s Healthy Future Act of 2009

Short Title: Reducing Health Care Costs for American Families.

Description of Amendment: Prior to implementation, the Secretary of Health and Human Services must certify that the Act will reduce health care costs by $2,500 for every American family.

Offset: Not necessary.

There are some fun ones
