JadedByPolitics (Diary) Saturday, September 12th at 3:48PM EST (link)I have been down in DC for plenty of protests and we where on one side of Pennsylvania Ave which is 3 lanes for the most part and we were stretched from the WH to the Capitol and around the reflecting pool. The trains were packed in a way I have NEVER seen even at the height of the anti-war movement protests. They don’t count anymore but from my point of view it was 1.5M and that was a figure I heard from DC residents have have seen it all and I agree with them.
I went with Penquin and her hubby and my husband and 2 sons along with one of my son’s friends and it was the most awe inspiring to site to see little kids to seniors, many in wheelchairs to be heard.
A LaRouchie was being interviewed and I walked behind him and and said loudly into the mike that LaRouche is a CRIMINAL and DOES NOT SPEAK FOR CONSERVATIVES!
I hope to do a diary in conjunction with Penquin in the next couple of days and do the pictures etc. but know that is was HUGE!!!!

Danielle Davis (ocleverone) (Diary) Saturday, September 12th at 4:28PM EST (link)I would guess that the crowd was well over 1 million.
Other than some name calling from a few passerbys, it was very peaceful and well organized.
It was very empowering to stand shoulder to shoulder with countless conservatives from around the country. It was a validation of the fact that we do indeed surround them..

1.5+ million people from around the country don't just show up....
JadedByPolitics (Diary) Saturday, September 12th at 4:49PM EST (link)to protest, especially UNPAID and taking their own money out of pocket. This was a sampling of Americans. When the anti-war protestors got 200K down in DC that to the media was the equivalent of “all” Democrats. So if we got 1.5-2.0 million that is the equivalent of ALL Republicans, Independents and half the Democrats!!!
They cannot spin this showing no matter how they try. Those protesters are going home to tell their friends, family, and their co-workers about this event. For every protester know that at least 40 other people will hear about and engage in a conversation about this day and of course that whole tell a friend from there works out to about 80M+ Americans HEARING THE GOOD NEWS….heh!

I was thinking about the size of the crowd.
Danielle Davis (ocleverone) (Diary) Saturday, September 12th at 4:55PM EST (link)Since I wasn’t sure what to expect, my husband offered to stay home and watch the kids. While I was marching, I was wondering how many other spouses stayed home? How many families didn’t come because of kids in school? How many couldn’t afford to come?
Today let me know, we do surround them. And you are right, there will be all those people returning to there homes and sharing the news.
I am hoping (in the non-socialist kind of way
) that this is our tipping point.
Did you see the sign “Expand job openings- fire Congress”? I did chuckle at that one.

Yes that was a good one, some of those people...
JadedByPolitics (Diary) Saturday, September 12th at 5:04PM EST (link)were so smart in their signs. We actually walked with a guy who had a HUGE Don’t Tread On Me Flag with a bullhorn. I knew him from the counter protests during the anti war protests in DC. It was really kewl to run into him again especially in light of all those people. He actually was on our train out of Vienna VA and the train picked up NO MORE PEOPLE after the GMU stopas we were PACKED. The people just waiting to get a train were packed like sardines. My husband said think about all the people who turned around because Metro was unprepared for the number to be that high and the trains were running every 15 minutes. I hope no one turned around

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Conservative Compendium
It was an amazing experience
johnCV (Diary) Saturday, September 12th at 7:59PM EST (link)I would sum it up by saying that the all of the people I met were pleaseant, well mannered, exited, decent hardworking and righteously pissed off at what this country is being mutated into.
I was late getting there and took the metro train in. The pedestrian causeways over the interstate were full of people waiting to buy tickets at 0930! It took about 30 minutes to get a ticket and board the train. The train was mostly full at that point. Two stops in and it was tight standing room only. Four stops in and there was no room left (I estimate about 2500 people per loaded train).
I forgot my camera (arrgggh), but the best sign was by a grandmotherly type and it said:
‘If you ram it down out throats in 2009, we’ll jam it up your (insert picture of democrat donkey) in 2010.’
Another said ‘ We are not terrorists, but in 2010 heads will roll’
Crowd size numbers were being thrown around left and right, but I think the one million +/- number sounds very reasonable.
The best thing I saw though, was where I standing next to the cnn bus (great view of the capitol). Lots of epithets were hurled at it from passers-by on a regular basis. One guy walked up to the front door and strated shouting at them inside ” Hey, the news is out here! Out Here! Why don’t you do your jobs and get OUT HERE to see what’s going on!” He kept it up for a several minutes, starting to draw a crowd. Some cnn muscle came out and tried to move him along, but he stayed put (non-violent – but having a big crowd at your back doesn’t hurt either…).
Finally a young lady came out (producer type) with a tape recorder (!) and pad and talked to the guy and a few others. CNN – cutting edge journalism.
She seemed OK, but it really was pathetic. When confronted with the lack of reportage on the whole event she said they have done several stories but added it likely was not enough. I got the feeling she was personally sympathetic to what was going on, but couldn’t really say so.
I could not get close enough to the stage or any speakers to hear any speeches (lots and lots of people!) so me and the ‘tens of hundreds’ in the back just had a great time exchanging opinions about where we thought things were going. Everyone saw this as a beginning, and will carry away a spark to bring home to fire up others who could not make it this time.
Thanks to all that could make it to DC (District of Corruption) and the local events – have a safe journey home.

peg_c (Diary) Sunday, September 13th at 3:15PM EST (link)I would have loved to see that one sign (the Shove It one) but we took tons of pics of great ones. Haven’t gotten them up yet.
Everyone we were around and came across simply detests the media other than FNC and Talk Radio. Plenty of signs ripped all the networks and cable channels other than FNC. Some ripped the dead tree media, and virtually all folks I talked to don’t believe a word they read or hear in the MSM. Amazingly damning, considering. I suspect you are right and there are folks toiling away behind the scenes in the MSM who are secretly sympathetic to our cause but, like folks who toil behind the scenes in Hollywood, don’t dare come out of the closet.
Sometime in the next year or so I believe a tipping point will be reached and it will be cool to be openly anti-Obama and anti-Dem. My step-daughter says the underground music scene in NYC is very anti-government. Lots of interesting goings-on there! I believe this and 2010 are our years to really grow the Revolution.

pro_libertate (Diary) Sunday, September 13th at 7:28AM EST (link)I am very pleased to see all of these great pictures, as I didn’t get a chance to watch any of the coverage on TV yesterday (although I did DVR Glenn Beck). I knew the numbers would be large! Although the AP is reporting on their radio news casts that “tens of thousands” marched on Washington to prtoest “government spending and healthcare reform.” Not that I am surprised by their particular slant.
Keep it up! We can get this country back on the right track!
Hey, we were there yesterday
peg_c (Diary) Sunday, September 13th at 3:00PM EST (link)Hubby, daughter, son-in-law, 14 month old granddaughter, stroller laden with stuff, and myself. It was fantastic! Now I know why we left Freedom Plaza early – it was filled up. The number of people there and all the way to the Capitol was simply astonishing. I’ve never been in such a crowd and I can only say if we all do this again next year IT WILL BE BIGGER!! (MORE porta-potties, please!)
The signs were fantastic, everyone was so upbeat, cheerful and gung-ho, and it was simply astonishing to be in the company of ALL conservatives and liberty-lovers literally as far as the eye could see. 1 million or more would not surprise me. Apparently at a specific spot on Pennsylvania Ave. we were being counted and the march passed that spot for 45 mins. solid, stretched from one side of the wide street to the other with folks packed fairly tight. It was a truly awesome, impressive crowd! It was fun pulling up shots on my iPhone taken by folks up above, while we were all still gathered, and showing them to the folks around us.
What a wonderful day.
