You gotta hand it to E.J. Dionne of the Washington Post.
Really, the town hall angst is really just a media conspiracy to make Obama and liberals look bad.
But what if our media-created impression of the meetings is wrong? What if the highly publicized screamers represented only a fraction of public opinion? What if most of the town halls were populated by citizens who respectfully but firmly expressed a mixture of support, concern and doubt?
Uh-huh. So are the tanking poll numbers, I guess.

November 2nd 2010. What are you doing today to improve your tomorrow?
It's like a CAT BARKING

billyd (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 1:30PM EST (link)Don’t you know that you’re only suppose to look at one variable!!! When the largest budget ever written passed, you were only suppose to look at the money being spent, not at the deficits they would cause. When they say Medicare is going to get better with HR3200, you aren’t suppose to look at the $500 billion in cuts to that program. When they say the townhalls are representative, you aren’t suppose to look at the polls. Unless of course….. YOU’RE A RACIST!!!! (or a terrorist.. you’re call)

Um I guess he was part of the conspiracy then
Chieftain1776 (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 1:41PM EST (link)As Reason points out Dionne thought these “highly publicized screamers” were so large and menacing that they posed a threat to existence of U.S. democracy!!! I guess one can only sigh at the sheer hypocrisy.
“This is not about the politics of populism. It’s about the politics of the jackboot. It’s not about an opposition that has every right to free expression. It’s about an angry minority engaging in intimidation backed by the threat of violence. [...]
All this is taking place as the country debates the president’s health-care proposal. There is much that is disturbing in that discussion. Shouting down speakers is never a good thing, and many lies are being told about the contents of the health-care bills. The lies should be confronted, but freedom involves a lot of commotion and an open contest of ideas, even when some of the parties say things that aren’t true and act in less than civil ways.
Yet if we can’t draw the line at the threat of violence, democracy begins to disintegrate. Power, not reason, becomes the stuff of political life.” http://www.reason.com/blog/show/135856.html
Pretty flexible brain Dionne has
Dan Perrin (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 1:44PM EST (link)first its a jack-boot intimidation scheme, now its a media conspiracy

Liberals Never Let Facts Confuse The Issue!
Ausonius (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 1:46PM EST (link)When their ideology is proven errorneous or at least unpopular, they can never believe it.
Those doing the disproving, those non-believers, are in error, and cannot be allowed to dominate.
Hence the present left-wing tendency to “do whatever it takes” (Billy Jeff Clinton’s infamous words) including distort, lie, and suppress their opponents.
The last step is violent suppression: that’s where we bring in our armed pick-up trucks!
Right, Janis?
Ausonius: 310-395 A.D. Teacher, Poet, Consul, General, Farmer.
Personal Tutor to the future St. Paulinus of Nola and to young Gratian, heir to the throne during the turbulent final years of the Western Roman Empire. When his former student Gratian was assassinated, Ausonius threw up his hands and retired to his farm in Gaul. Rome was captured by barbarians 14 years after his death.

Job Description
briann (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 2:03PM EST (link)When Pelosi and the Dem leadership started with their rhetoric about “the mob” and “swastikas” and bogus “death threats,” the MSM dutifully did their job and characterized the Obamacare opponents as unruly mobs bent of violence and hate. I strongly suspect the intent was to ridicule and marginalize the opposition.
Now that plan has backfired, so it’s the media’s fault for the “media-created impression of the meetings is wrong.” Ultimately that is the job description of the useful idiot: carry the talking points, then take the blame when things go wrong.

Speaking of the Washington Post,
blooch Friday, September 4th at 9:33AM EST (link)This link was on my daughter’s 3rd grade teacher’s website yesterday:

Note the survey about charity on the front page and the vegetarian propaganda.
There is also an article praising John Kerry’s town hall meeting and panning a Michael Steele meeting.
I wanted to read the article about Obama’s speech to kids, but it’s behind a logon and password.
