That they’ll be allowed the “choice” of not changing anything. Obama’s already been back-pedaling on whether the government will allow people to keep the coverage they have now (at first he said people wouldn’t have to change; now he’s saying the government wouldn’t “force” them to change, which is a different animal altogether).

There are still a lot of people out there who believe that Obamacare will cover those without coverage and leave almost everyone else alone. They don’t realize that while the government may not force them to switch to the public option, it can certainly take steps to eliminate any other options.

It may be that even the CNN heirarchy are starting to get cold feet about nationalized health care as they see the devil in the details in terms of how it will affect THEM and the taxes that it will evoke. And knowing this president and how poll-driven he is, they’re hoping to keep him from marching off a cliff.

As others above have said, I too think that 44% number will shift into the “worse off” ccategory if they bother to look into the details of Obamacare.

Watch Obummer backpeddle on how the CNN poll is not the poll that he would normally see from CNN. So the more Obummer gets out and cheerleads his health plan the further his own poll numbers should plummet.

The default position for most people is *inertia*.

The 44% of people who think there will be “no change” for them are much more likely to say “So, why change anything, if it’s going to be the same either way?!” than they are to say “Well, if it’ll be the same either way, let’s change it!!”

Further, many of the 44% who think they’re will be no change for them, may still oppose Obamacare for other reasons (e.g. they may feel that their health care won’t change, but that their taxes might go up, or that the deficit/debt might explode, etc.).

So, even if the 44% “No Change” number doesn’t go down, it is by no means that it’s good news for Zero.

Basically, it makes more sense to take the “Worse”/”No Change” sum of 79% as a true “anti”sentiment than it does to take the “Better”/”No Change” sum of 64% as being truly “pro”…

But the key number is those who think they will be better off, versus those who think they will be worse off.

It is likely that the 44% number will drop off over time, and move into one or the other Better or Worse off choices,

We will see where the 44% end up.

The reason I posted it was that I thought, given the media sell-job that has been going on, that 20% number would be much, much higher.

A clear majority of Americans want public health care; 20% think they will be better added to the 44% who think it’ll be the same.
It’s obvious the 44% who think they’ll fare the same are those satisfied with their current coverage and, because Obamacare will be as good as or better than your current coverage, they clearly support the Obamacare public option.

Thus, 64% of Americans agree that we must–I repeat–must have Obamacare.

The 35% are just rich Republicans who only oppose it because Doctor Utopia offered it–even though everybody knows even they would be better off under Obamacare.
