Patricia_C (Diary) Thursday, October 1st at 5:32PM EST (link)From the Raed The Bill Website hosted by the Senate Conservatives Fund:
The town hall meetings in August uncovered a nasty little secret in Washington: Members of Congress don’t actually read their bills!! If you’re tired of politicians sticking you with the consequences of bills they haven’t read, sign our National Read the Bill Petition.
Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) is preparing legislation that will require bills to be scored by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and posted online at least 72 hours before they can be considered by the Senate or any Senate committee. This will leave Members of Congress with no excuse for failing to read their bills and it will give the public time to express their views before legislation is passed.
After following te link and signing the pertition you should receive one of these e-mails rather immediately to confirm and thank you for your participation:
Dear Friend:
Thank you for adding your name to the growing list of Americans who want Members of Congress to actually read their bills before they pass them.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard my colleagues in the Senate say we must pass a bill immediately without knowing what’s in it. Then when something inevitably goes wrong, they act surprised and demand we pass another bill they haven’t read to fix it.
Thank you again for your support. Together, I’m confident we can reform this broken process and begin to take our country back.
Yours truly,
Jim DeMint
United States Senator
Chairman, Senate Conservatives Fund

POLANSKI = LIBERAL "VALUES"
reelman (Diary) Thursday, October 1st at 9:15PM EST (link)POLANSKI = LIBERAL “VALUES”
Okay, you read that long ago a big time Hollyweirdo Roman Polanski did a bad thing…
now you hear some Hollyweirds are rallying to his “defense”…to HIS DEFENSE.
What did this Polanski do?
He gave a 13 year old girl a Lude and champagne.
He raped the 13 year old girl
He sodomized the 13 year old girl
Then what happened?
He was arrested and convicted after pleading to ONE FELONY (sex with a minor).
He jumped bail 30 years ago.
He recently made statements defending/excusing his felony!
Now tell us silly basic morality folks why this man is being defended?
(Oh, I forgot, the modern liberal (aka democrat) is a fantasy-based creature whose religion is SECULAR socialism)
What does this also tell you about those Hollyweird “feminist” champions?

The Ant and the Grasshopper
Patrick_Murdock (Diary) Thursday, October 1st at 9:37PM EST (link)Thanks for the open thread. A friend sent me this tale by email today.
This one is a little different… Two Different Versions! Two Different Morals!
OLD VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!
MODERN VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green.’
Acorn stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house, where the news stations film the group singing, ‘We shall over come’. Rev. Jeremiah Wright then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s sake.
Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.
Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ants food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around him because he doesn’t maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow.
The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident.
And the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders
who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
BE CAREFUL OF HOW YOU VOTE IN 2010

JoeG Thursday, October 1st at 11:11PM EST (link)GM and Chrysler sales plunge, Ford picks up 3% market share.
http://www.freep.com/article/20091001/BUSINESS01/91001096/1318/Ford-sales-a-bright-spot-in-month-after-clunkers-
It would appear that this is just another installment in the demonstration that people don’t like government cars.
Ouch!
The_Gadfly (Diary) Friday, October 2nd at 7:45AM EST (link)Ford Motor Co. — whose 5% sales decline in September outperformed the industry’s 23% plummet — picked up 3 percentage points of market share last month,…
General Motors Co. was down 45%, while Chrysler Group LLC fell 42.1%.
September’s performance looked even worse considering that last September — when Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy and kicked off a global financial crisis — was the worst sales month in 15 years.
Says more about the atrocious thinking that went into the cash for clunkers program than the government takeover of the other two car companies. Also says a great deal about the current state of the economy.
If Bird is the word, let's at least get the right one.
