Either he's miraculously fast, or y'all have really tiny lawns in OC.

We had this little German guy named Dieter--we called him Wee Dieter--who used to take care of our lawn. Had to fire him for attitude problems. I tried to get him to fill in some bare spots, and he screamed, "Bin ich Jesus? Wächst mir etwa Gras aus der Tasche?" I found this new guy named Lon Moore that I can really push around.

because I have this feeling you're going to provide Hours of high-quality family entertainment...

Philip's motto is sense and simplicity, so that name might not work for you..

"I have read every blog on all the topics that have been posted on redstate since I first began receiving it."....that's impressive

"I was entangled in the debate over my choice of usernames"...I'd like to have more 'repartee' on this subject. Usernames are tossed around in far to cavalier a fashion...it creates confusion and anymosity. I've threatened to quit Redstate a few times for their lack of action on this issue. I would love to see a diary with your thoughts on this subject.

Have you read anything else here today?
blooch Friday, August 28th at 8:21PM EDT (link)
Or Yesterday?
I’ve seen folks get off to worse starts here than you, and then end up being valued contributors. You can do it too, if you want to.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jesus

As a matter of fact I have. I have read every blog on all the topics that have been posted on redstate since I first began receiving it. There were a few comments that I didn't agree with, but for the most part, I totally agreed with what folks had to say.
As for "writing about himself", I suppose I should have given a bio on my profile but after my first few comments I was entangled in the debate over my choice of usernames and I completely forgot to do that. I will do it posthaste.
And I apologize for my use of the phrase "don't ya know" but you hear it a lot in the NW though it was not Mrs. Palin who coined it but Tina Fey on SNL. Mrs. Palin did use it in jest a few times but her conversations are not filled with homey little colloquial expressions. She is well educated. Achance, you certainly can attest to that I am sure.
And $pecialist, I am happy to learn that you have Jesus on your lawn.
If you ever need a lawyer, I'd be happy to introduce you to mine, his name is Jesus.
BTW, my daughter approves of you calling me Philip. But she said it should be preacherphilip.....
My time at the keyboard is limited today as I promised my two beautiful women that I would take them to breakfast and then shopping for a new dress for the younger one. She has a piano recital tomorrow and needs a bit of female confidence booster. And nothing does that better than a new dress!

I'm going to call you Philip from now on...
$peciallist Friday, August 28th at 7:33PM EDT (link)
cause you need to lighten up…
you’re almost through the hazing but your wackiness is making us skeptical
Express yourself through diaries so we don’t ruin other peoples blogs…I promise to come visit them, Philip

Hazing...hmm, do you do that to everyone? Hazing was not a custom when I went to university.
Please tell me what part of what I said do you consider "wackiness"??
My daughter wants to tell you about the mission trip that I took her on to Kenya. Perhaps I will let her put that into the diary.
BTW, my given names are Francisco delAmonte Philipe' __
How very strange that you chose Philip!!

$PECIALIST...I probably should not have used the word Repartee', but my preteen daughter was standing looking over my shoulder and I had typed "intelligent political exchange" and she said I should change it to "Repartee"....I think it was her word for the day..sorry you didn't like the word.
JANIS, I bet that the blogs on redstate WOULD be a constant thread of intelligent comments, not the other way around.
And I lost the bet because my friend Jake was right when he said that bloggers could not stay on point and were likely to gather against any newcomer.
So you see, while redstate was the soapbox, it was the bloggers that I was betting ON, not against. I can't imagine why that should bother you.
As for the speckled bird, that was my friend Jake's analogy though we had both learned about it in Afghanistan. Though I don't believe it's actual origin is mideastern. But it is truly barbarian. From "Aaron's Archive", the statement "conform and celebrate diversity….or else!!!" is a sort of oxymoron. You cannot conform and have diversity. In the Mideast, they do not embrace diversity. Nor will they allow it. So one who walks to their own drum beat is often either killed or forced to leave the protection of the settlement. So the saying about the speckled bird well known. I am not familiar with what Roy Acuff may have ever said but it is used in the bible but only once. I was in VN in the 60's and I do know that an anti war group used the name back then in Atlanta.
ACHANCE, you have quite an impressive biography. I am sure that you did a fine job for Alaska. You said "I’m willing to bet he thought none of us would know the analogy because we’re not as cool as he is." You lose. It never occurred to me that anything I said would go over anyone's head. And I am certainly not cool, just ask my daughter. I never smoked dope, didn't protest anything except perhaps my folk's attitude towards homework. But as a member of clergy I have traveled to many countries that have either been racked by wars or were still in the midst of a war. I have held children in my arms as they died, soldiers too. Like you, I am retired now but I watch with sorrow the very fabric of our country being torn by liberals with the mindset that I mentioned before, they are willing to give away our liberties for an illusion of prosperity.
For myself, it doesn't matter, 15/20 years from now I will likely be gone, but I have children who have children. And my young daughter is a second generation of sorts as my wife & I never expected a late in life baby. But she is here and I would love to pass to her as a citizen of the United States, a life that is not impossibly laden with debt, a country not inundated with illegal immigrants, a nation that upholds our Constitution and a place where she will know and experience the same freedoms that her mother and I have. But if you judge that conversations on those subjects are stupid and obnoxious, then you won't have to ignore my blogs (janis).....
Intelligent political repartee'...well, that is something that is certainly needed so that the far left does not push the conservatives out of the settlement. Liberals will embrace bipartisanship only if the right gives way to the left. That cannot be denied. Right wingers are far more apt to accept the ideology of a liberal as long as it doesn't compromise liberty. Liberals on the other hand are more than willing to give up liberty for false prosperity.
If you people really wanted to discuss politics in an intelligent way, you wouldn't jump on the first person who comes along who offers some different insights.
And just FYI, If you search the word 'jingoism' or "jingoistic" on Twitter, you will find a large list of people who have no true concept of the word yet have much to say. It is easy to read a dictionary meaning of a word, but to have lived the word, experienced the word, the meaning is far different.
When most people read the word "fanatical" they immediately think of Mussolini or Hitler when in fact, in the 1600's, during some of the Christian persecutions, the word was first used to describe those who would not recant their faith in Jesus Christ even when faced with being burned at the stake, death by strangulation, death by sword, death by hungry lions, hanging, stoning, being disemboweled, being torn apart and other forms of murder all for the delectation of the unbelievers, the pagans, the worshippers of false gods and idols as well as men.
So it is today, a person who refuses to recant their faith in God and country are said to be fanatics. Well, I guess that makes me a fanatic.
To gain a deeper insight into the true meaning of "fanatic" everyone should read at least once John Foxe's "Christian Martyrs of the World".

I am sorry that the discussion went from Kennedy to user names. It was quite interesting to read the comments as they pertained to Fat Teddy's legacy. Even though the number of comments was limited to just a few people, I was amazed at the differences of opinion.
In October 1979 I had the opportunity to attend mass at The Cathedral of Saint Matthew the Apostle in D.C. To our surprise the mass was celebrated by Pope John Paul II. As I was part of a group who were attending a Christian conference, we were introduced to the Pope. He was a gentle, soft spoken man, full of grace and humility. Senator Kennedy was there as he often was when in D.C. He was still married to Joan at the time. She was there as well. And they were of course at the head of the receiving line and as the Pope entered the room where we were waiting, TK was never silent, his constant talking and ego slathering was annoying to everyone including his wife. When the Pope entered and was escorted down the line and introduced to each person, though many of us were not catholic, we all were in awe of this great man. But TK, with the same audacity and self imposed greatness as Michelle Obama displayed when she touched the Queen of England, reached out and touched the person of the Pope. Only because of who he was, was he not thrown to the floor by the Pope's bodyguards. As they had stepped quickly between Pope John Paul and TK. The Pope never stopped moving along the line nor did he look at TK.
Kennedy was attempting in his clumsy and self-serving way to establish some sort of connection that he could use to his advantage. There were 9 of us there together who were not catholic and he somehow knew who we were, where we were from and he took a moment to touch each of us on the hand and pray for us. Later, I read somewhere that TK had indeed had a private interview with the Pope and I always wondered what was said.

I am sorry that the discussion went from Kennedy to user names. It was quite interesting to read the comments as they pertained to Fat Teddy’s legacy.
Only because of who he was, was he not thrown to the floor by the Pope’s bodyguards.
Help bring life sustaining clean water to children. Think of that the next time you turn on your tap….there are children around the world who have no clean water.

newspaper in ATL waaaay back in my long-hair, dope-smoking, FM Radio listening days.

I guess he thought that just being stupid and obnoxious gave him some special cred here and he was testing us to see if we could be open, tolerant, and understanding towards a speckled bird. Wonder if he picked up the analogy from Roy Acuff, The Bible, or from reading about multi-culturalism. I'm willing to bet he thought none of us would know the analogy because we're not as cool as he is.
