That applies even to seemingly innocuous subject matter specialst appointees like scientists or budget and finance people if they were appointed by Democrats. A Democrat will NEVER appoint anyone to a position unless that person has demonstrated that they won’t let little things like facts, rules, laws, and the like get in the way of Administration objectives. People who work through that stuff all too often become a lot like SS Captains; they’ll execute any order with ruthless precision and without the slightest thought for whether it should have been executed. Since Republican appointees and officeholders usually come from outside government, you need reliable advice from these subject matter experts; you won’t get reliable advice from the kind of automaton that can stay in an appointed position for multiple administrations of different parties.
