Names for fake Republicans are multiplying!

There’s growing recognition of the problem of statist politicians who run as faux-conservatives in order to get elected. Arlen Spector was famous for morphing into less-of-a-statist every six years for decades…until a real conservative, Pat Toomey, forced him to admit he’s really a Democrat. In NY-23 Dede Scozzafava refused to sign a no-tax-increase pledge…and then did so (to great fanfare) after being overcome by a real conservative, Doug Hoffman (whereupon she came clean and endorsed the Democrat after dropping out of the race). Texas Gov. Rick Perry is currently reinventing himself as a states’ rights conservative after increasing taxes and spending in Texas for years. And even ultra-liberal supporter of Barack Obama, Charlie Crist—the “Republican” governor of Florida—is now claiming that he’s a big conservative after being challenged (and surpassed) by Marco Rubio, a real conservative in Florida’s U.S. Senate race. Finally, there is the sad history of George W. Bush, who ran for President as a conservative . . . and then assisted the descent of Washington, DC into a full-blown leap off off the cliff of socialism.

But accurate language is death to the Political Class. Thus, the terminology to describe fake conservative Republicans is expanding:

First there was RINO…Republican In Name Only.

Then came DIABLO…Democrat In All But Label Only.

Now comes LIAR…Liberal Imitating A Republican.

I take it a “So called” Republican from New Hampshire knows more than we do. Yeah right. I think your a mouthpiece for some of the RINO in the Ledge, like Joe Strauss or Jeff Wentworth. Yeah, stick to dealing with New Hampshire and leave the looking for RINO here in Texas to those of us that are here.

Joe Biden is like a Decrepit Park owner with a Meth lab that happens to not only be a dealer but a user.

Let’s Bankrupt the Democratic paty. Make spend all the money to defend thier candidates.

Add this one to the list

I give points to LIAR.

After all, it works on two levels.

“The press is so powerful in its image-making role that it can make a criminal look like he’s the victim and make the victim look like he’s the criminal. If you aren’t careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”– Malcolm X, Audubon Ballroom, December 13, 1964

Wait...I wasn't aware Rick Perry raised taxes...

AceInTX (Diary) Saturday, November 14th at 11:24PM EST (link)

and it’s a hard thing to miss when you write a check for your property taxes twice a year….

I’ve had my issues with Perry but I can tell you for a fact, he carried us through the early nineties and the budget shortfalls that resulted from the recession…and he did it by cutting spending….NOT raising taxes.

and look at Texas now…we’re by far the healthiest state in the union and I’m actually excited about the economic outlook for San Antonio coming up since Toyota is expanding here, Texas A&M is building a new campus, Caterpillar Industries is moving here, Microsoft and other major corporations are moving here. We’re looking really good for the future thanks in large part to Rick Perry…

Maybe you should educate yourself before you open your pie hole…maybe you won’t look so silly after you’re done spewing your drivel here!

The “Big Tent” analogy isn’t the correct one…the correct one is a MAGNET…we need to be a MAGNET that draws these independents in who are sick and tired of what’s going on in WashingtonFred Thompson

Ahhh...not the early nineties...duh...around 2000 I meant nt

I sort of said the same thing

but I get universally rejected when I type out. Property Taxes in Texas are such a varied lot. Not only do you pay the County, the City(if you live in a City), the community College district, the Hospital District(if you county has one), the Local School district that your residence is in and so on. Even with all that, It keeps the Law firms that deal with Property Taxes are big business. Besides, Property Taxes are things Done by Appraisal Districts like the infamous Bexar Appraisal District(use to be BAD but now is BCAD).

Is the following not true with respect to Gov. Perry?

ct236 (Diary) Tuesday, January 26th at 6:13AM EST (link)

From Wikipedia: “Perry, a proclaimed proponent of fiscal conservatism, has often campaigned on tax reform and job growth. Perry resisted creating a Texas state income tax and sales tax increases, protected the state’s “Rainy Day fund”, balanced the state budget as required by state law, and was reelected on a platform to reduce property taxes that exploded with the inflation of property values in the late 1990s and the 21st century. However, shortly after taking office, he backed down from the reduction of residential property taxes.
In early 2006 Perry angered some fiscal conservatives in his own party by supporting an increase in the state franchise tax alongside a property tax reform bill. Many organizations within the Republican Party itself condemned Perry’s tax bill, HB-3, and likened it to a “back door” state income tax.[16] Perry claimed in a statewide advertising campaign that the bill would save the average taxpayer $2,000 in property taxes. Critics contended that Perry inflated these numbers. The actual tax savings, they said, would average only $150 per family.” It looks like he’s got a mixed record, but has been responsible for raising some taxes.
