It doesn’t take a weatherman….

Several libertarian-types I know have unhappily pointed out that Scott Brown in Massachusetts supported then-Gov. Mitt Romney’s state-level socialized medicine scheme when it was passed. “What’s the point?” they say. If Brown supported socialized medicine in Massachusetts, he may well support some type of socialized medicine in the U.S. Senate. Happily, I have the solution to such misgivings. As noted in the Massachusetts race, Coakley is so awful that she must be defeated at any cost, no matter how bad Brown might (or might not!) turn out to be.

Now, here’s what we Real Republicans do: After Brown wins in Massachusetts in a few days (with the votes of both conservative Republicans and Democrats), we watch his voting record. No more talking a BS line to the “rubes back home,” and then voting another way in DC. Those days are gone forever. If Brown turns out to get bad scores with American for Tax Reform, the National Taxpayers Union, the Club for Growth, et al., then conservative Republicans in Massachusetts (and elsewhere) simply move to recruit a Real Republican candidate to run against Brown in the nextprimary, knock him off, and go on to win  the general election with a Real Republican, not a RINO. Simple! And a pattern that can be replicated throughout America as we work to cleanse the Republican Party of the corrupt political class that has decided to live off of it.

However, I don’t think that will be necessary. Politicians are known for changing their stripes. And it doesn’t take a weatherman to tell which way the wind is blowing in America today. That means that Brown may well turn out to be a great vote in the Senate, and be very supportive of real conservative principles. For a long time, people have thought the way to get elected was to act like a liberal statist, and to a certain degree that was true, especially as long as the mainstream media maintained a lock on information-dissemination. However, now that the results of liberal statist policies are “coming home to roost” (to quote Obama’s Reverend of 20 years, Jeremiah Wright), we are witnessing a massive swing of the electorate in the conservative/libertarian direction. That is, today the way to get elected is not to “reach across the aisle” or “compromise” in order to ape the Democrats. The way to get elected is by being a strong, consistent, principled conservative.

As this plays out—as the Republican party becomes more and more a real alternative to the more-openly-socialist Democratic Party, and as it becomes purged of the corruption of the political class (aka RINO’s)—the GOP will become an ever-greater magnet for people of all walks of life, including working class Democrats. Why? Because conservative policy prescriptions “work.” They are the way back to a better, healthier, wealthier economy, country, and people. We just need to bypass the government toadies in the mainstream media. But that’s become easy. That’s why God gave us the Internet, talk radio, and Fox News Channel.

Names for fake Republicans are multiplying!

There’s growing recognition of the problem of statist politicians who run as faux-conservatives in order to get elected. Arlen Spector was famous for morphing into less-of-a-statist every six years for decades…until a real conservative, Pat Toomey, forced him to admit he’s really a Democrat. In NY-23 Dede Scozzafava refused to sign a no-tax-increase pledge…and then did so (to great fanfare) after being overcome by a real conservative, Doug Hoffman (whereupon she came clean and endorsed the Democrat after dropping out of the race). Texas Gov. Rick Perry is currently reinventing himself as a states’ rights conservative after increasing taxes and spending in Texas for years. And even ultra-liberal supporter of Barack Obama, Charlie Crist—the “Republican” governor of Florida—is now claiming that he’s a big conservative after being challenged (and surpassed) by Marco Rubio, a real conservative in Florida’s U.S. Senate race. Finally, there is the sad history of George W. Bush, who ran for President as a conservative . . . and then assisted the descent of Washington, DC into a full-blown leap off off the cliff of socialism.

But accurate language is death to the Political Class. Thus, the terminology to describe fake conservative Republicans is expanding:

First there was RINO…Republican In Name Only.

Then came DIABLO…Democrat In All But Label Only.

Now comes LIAR…Liberal Imitating A Republican.

Hoffman is just our warmup battle

It looks like Doug Hoffman in New York’s District 23 is peaking at just the right time, surging into the lead in at least one poll in the past 48 hours. And Sarah Palin—showing more of the political genius that will propel her to continuing national conservative leadership—waited until just the right tactical moment to endorse Hoffman and help propel him to victory (not unlike Colin Powell when he stabbed all Republicans in the back and endorsed Barack Obama for President at just the moment to do maximum damage to McCain and Palin).

But it’s important to remember, the Hoffman race is merely a warmup, a flexing of our newly awakened conservative majority, preparatory to taking down a far bigger RINO who is just as pernicious in his own way as Scozzafava. I speak, of course, about Florida’s Gov. Charlie Crist, who supported TARP, regularly vetoes bills that reduce spending, and campaigns with Obama in Florida. Against him stands Marco Rubio, a 38-year-old first generation American whose parents escaped from the murderous dictatorship of Fidel Castro. After Hoffman wins his election in 6 days, we must then turn our attention and resources to helping Rubio, who causes me to say “Damn, this guy is good!”

A Message for Garcia: People who show up for work

In Tom Wolfe’s “Bonfire of the Vanities,” there is a scene where two cops reflect on what the difference between someone who’s “an okay guy” as opposed to “a piece a sh*t.” Turns out the key to being an okay guy is simple. As the cops agree, “He’s okay. He shows up for work.” That’s all. He just does what he’s supposed to do. He works. He supports himself and his family, and works his own way through the world. He does what he gotta do, and he does it okay. Those guys who don’t show up for work? All of ‘em. “Piece a sh*t.”

In “A message for Garcia,” Elbert Hubbard explains the same thing: Like Wolfe’s two cops, he points out that all you need to do to be exceptional in this world is “show up for work” and do a decent job (reminiscent of Newt Gingrich’s observation that 90% of success is just showing up….). Oh yeah, and stop whining and bitching while you’re at it. SImple. Show up. Get the job done. Don’t whine and complain. You’ll be an extraordinary success. And it’s true.

Scary, isn’t it?
