Perhaps now is not the time to “set aside childish things”? The “change” president is unwilling to meet with Nevada’s Governor Jim Gibbons (R).
The president has denied Gibbons’s request for a meeting on Nevada’s sluggish tourism industry during his visit to the state for fund raiser for Harry Reid.
From the Las Vegas Sun:
The governor had sent the president a letter last month saying he wanted to discuss the economic difficulties facing the state’s tourism industry. Gibbons said today that he was notified Obama won’t meet with him while the president is in Las Vegas on May 26 for a fundraiser for Sen. Harry Reid.
“I am disappointed at the hypocrisy shown by this administration,” Gibbons said in a prepared statement. “President Obama is coming to Las Vegas later this month for a political fundraiser, but he will not help the struggling families in Las Vegas and Nevada who are out of work because of his reckless comments.”
The “reckless comments” the governor is referring to were made by the president earlier this year when he criticized companies that received federal money for planning business trips to Las Vegas.
“This is politics, pure and simple, President Obama stood for change, but all he has done is brought negative economic change to Nevada,” Gibbons said.
Governor, get used to it. This is what 63 million Americans voted for.
FYI: Obama received Nevada’s five electoral votes in 2008.
God help us!

Besides the fact that Obama is anti-gambling (or is he? but he loves the gamblers' votes, lol!), I think that Gibbons is getting "OA". He just wants to have a picture beside his beloved Obama for his re-election bids. nuff said. nt

Crippy (Diary) Tuesday, May 19th at 6:54AM EST (link)regarding Gibbons re-election. About Obama being anti-gambling, except for gambler’s votes, I’m not so sure. I was in Vegas about two weeks before the election. I saw Obama’s plane at the airport and a dealer at the Venetian said he was staying there.
I wondered why nobody in the press found it worth noting.

I hope Obama plays and wins some bucks at the casinos.
Rod_Patrick (Diary) Tuesday, May 19th at 7:14AM EST (link)Oh … that is too “capitalistic” for Obama’s taste. lol!
Maybe the regulars will give him some slacks, though.
