I just got a call from a good friend of mine. He was at the country records office getting finger printed for his CCW. He was sitting next to the clerk’s window waiting to be called. In walked a man and the following conversation took place with a county sheriff:
Man – Can I speak to you a minute?
Sheriff – Sure, what’s up?
Man – I’m here to report for my sentence. I was sentenced to seven days in jail.
Sheriff – The jail is right next door, go there.
Man – Last night my girlfriend took off and stole my ID and wallet.
Sheriff – What do you want me to do about it?
Man – Nothing, but I just came from the jail and they won’t let me serve my sentence because I don’t have ID. I told them I’m in the system can’t you look me up?
Who knew you needed an ID to go to jail?
God help us!

My 2007 income tax check for Md. was deposited
beaming Saturday, March 28th at 4:29AM EST (link)and I’m sure already spent in this 2 to 1 blue state. I continue to get billed the amount due, interest and late fees even though I’ve sent copies of both sides of the check. They say and I quote, ” can’t figure out where it went ”
My first thought was ” we want the government to run health care ? “

At first blush, the narrative does resemble a comedy skit. However, the ID requirement is absolutely necessary.
People who have reached a certain “station in life” could, but more likely would, simply pay one of their serfs to act as their stand-in.
I won’t attempt to define “pay”.
