From my blog – “In Cain’s Corner” today – (see original for links)
As a Christian, I tend to look at world events through the prism of what my omniscient and all-powerful God might be about. I am not prophet, just a dedicated believer and also an observer of history. In difficult times, and in the history of America, God has raised up great men and women to accomplish great things.
Herman Cain won’t say what I am about to, because although he is quite a confident leader, he is also quite humble. I believe that in these difficult times, Herman Cain was meant to step forward and lead – and that God has had his hand on him since the beginning and has raised him from very humble beginnings by instilling in him integrity, grit and visionary wisdom.
There was a young lady named Esther in the scriptures who was also born in dangerous times when her people (the Jews) were in peril. She was asked -
14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14, New International Version, ©2011)
She then put herself in immense danger by directly approaching a powerful King without permission and speaking up for her people.
Herman Cain has lived a long and successful life. He could be sitting home on his couch or playing golf or playing with the grand kids or just rocking on the porch enjoying his “sunset years”.
Instead, he asked God, “What can I do to be sure that my grandchildren inherit a great country, as my parents assured that I would have the opportunities I have had.”
Herman Cain is very aware that we may be approaching the sunset of America if the leadership of our country does not change. He has prayerfully considered what he should do about it and gone through the appropriate steps to determine God’s leading. He is stepping up to the danger and will announce on May 21 at Olympic Centennial Park in Atlanta at HIGH NOON that he is willing to face down the leader that many still consider “unbeatable”.
Maybe the folks he has met so far have not been able to beat Barack Obama. He has not yet met Mr. Herman Cain. I firmly believe that Mr. Cain was born “for such a time a this”.
Show him your support as he steps into the arena for you. He took that first step Thursday night at the South Caroline GOP debate and won it soundly, with very low previous media exposure. He has worked very hard over the past two years to build a grassroots following, and in the process has helped elect other conservative leaders. He was the only potential GOP candidate to go directly to Wisconsin and stand up to the unions for Gov. Scott Walker.
Show the pundits that “We The People” will elect the next President of the United States – and that you know Herman Cain will restore true leadership and pride in America again and will bring a businessman’s expertise and problem-solving mentality to the issues we face. Follow him on Twitter. Friend him on Facebook. But most of all this week, contribute generously and leave him an encouraging note at http://HermanCain.com .

Change Jar Conservative (Diary) Sunday, May 8th at 4:42AM EST (link)Cain is not my guy and I am occassionally concerned with the overuse of this phrase by both myself and my fellow believers.
On the other hand, I think there is a time and place where this applies.
While I think there are better candidates than Cain (Daniels primary among them), in addition to the practical side of using our brains and our feet, we need more believers on their knees asking God to raise up the right person to lead our nation (a prayer utterred without any name attached).
Run the race, fight the fight.

I understand your concern about the overuse of the phrase. I don’t use it lightly. There are many good potential candidates. There are a few at the top. Only a few of those actually have exploratory committees. Herman will announce in two weeks.
He brought himself up by his boot straps out of nothing. He has stepped into this arena with reasonable consideration and testing the waters, but not waiting to see what the others did before stepping out for the American people. Sarah is mum, Mitch is mum, Newt keeps talking in circles, Huckabee is – then he isn’t- then he is, Paul is …, Pawlenty is possible, Santorum is a nice guy but out of his league and too defensive.
I don’t know how it will all shake out – but I just have had a gut senses about Herman Cain sense I first heard, saw and then met him. That impression did not change on my recent bloggers conference call with him. He is a warrior who has kept up a travel schedule that would put many others to shame talking to anyone who would invite him. he has no fear and is able to pull people of differing opinions to his way of thinking through humor and statesmanship. He reminds me very much of Marco, who I had the same feeling about from day one. In addition to being solid conservatives – they are both natural orators – something the GOP hasn’t seen in a long time.
I totally agree with the need for more of us to be on our knees. IIChron 7:14 is the key.
