I never thought I’d be writing this, but it chops my hide and it needs to be done.
This post is generally addressed to Catholics and will offer guidance on how to oppose the Bishops and this guy Richard Doerflinger.
We know the Catholic Church has done a world of good. I haven’t the stats on how it’s helped with numerous organizations in the United States, but it’s a major player.
Now, according to Politico, they want to take it a step further and offer help with Senate passage of Healthcare.
This is how it works in the Catholic Church.
We’re supposed to be obedient — but in matters of Faith, not Legislation.
We’re supposed to “give unto Caesar,” but there is no law on healthcare yet, so all is fair game.
So, the objective is this: Oppose this move by the U.S Conference of Bishops, and oppose it hard.
Contact your priests, your bishops and nag like hell. Tell your friends.
Remind them:
- Obama’s first move as President was to sign an Executive Order (it may have been a Memo) to reverse Bush’s block on funding to the UN Population Fund to provide world-wide abortions under the guise of “women’s healthcare.” There will probably be triggers in this legislation that will cover abortion in the future.
- socialism is evil; and that this is a form of socialism brought about by the worst of socialists who mingles with avowed communists, radicals and the Godless. I’ve heard of no Catholic who trusts anyone who deals with the devil.
- this legislation will hurt American families financially by draining their pockets. It will hurt them spiritually and will ultimately hurt the spiritual Church. The Church acknowledges that parents are children’s first teachers of the faith and their first providers. If there’s no money, families can’t provide for their own, and certainly can’t tithe the Church. Family poverty forced about by this socialized taxation will also force families to abort their own children or engage in some form of birth control — hello! Precepts against the Church!
- that you know Richard Doerflinger is a paid Church lobbyist who’s main objective in helping with this legislation is to help keep Catholic hosptals running. Bargaining with the devil has no benefit, especially when you know his objective is to destroy families, destroy the Constitution and destroy America and American belief in God. Ask what Doerflinger did with his $600,000 winnings while you’re at it. If he really believes in healthcare, he should have donated it all to an indigent group of people (bless them).
- that indigents have access to and are never, ever denied healthcare in America (says so in the ER) and that you would rather continue with a system where you’re taxed the ‘ole way than a dramatic overhaul that will deny healthcare in the future through rationed care and death panels.
- of the separation of Church and State
- [edit] lastly, that when conservative voters learn of this betrayal of the Bishops, they will will drive parishoners away. There will be a drop in the number of church attendance, and ultimately, new registrants in every parish, nationwide.
If all else fails, remind everyone who will listen of Catholic involvemenet in legislation.
Hopefully, this will get the progressives, leftists, radicals, darwinists, global climate freaks and everyone else under the sun outraged enough to grind this thing to a halt.
This is wrong.
Ultimately, these bishops can’t speak as a group and usurp the Pope and speak Ex Cathedra (from the Chair on Church Dogma). Catholics can label this as wrong.
And what matters at this point is how loud you’re willing to speak.

Scope (Diary) Friday, March 5th at 8:07PM EST (link)but started “questioning with boldness” the fact that the Bishops adopted the doctrine that the abortion issue was less important than the overall philosophy of taking care of the masses. They seemed to exchange their most sacred tenet for the government nanny state. They have ignored the fact that no one society, and especially the government systems, would fold under the weight of the expense. They seem to have a problem with “personal responsibility”, and, the uplifting of that person when he feels more than adequate, and rejoices, to provide for himself.
Abortion less important?? Since when?
YankeeConservative (Diary) Saturday, March 6th at 3:08AM EST (link)The Catholic Church has never let down on the abortion issue, and doesnt have an overall “philosophy of taking care of the masses.” In fact, the Catholic Church spends most of its time in 3rd world countries on missionary voyages rather then feeding them, while they are still the largest charity in the world.
The problem with the Catholic Church is that it is too big. The Conference of Bishops is a lobbying group led by lawyers, but yet, directed by the Bishops. But even these bishops do not decide church doctrine.
In any case, it does bother me (I am Catholic if you hadnt noticed.) I believe the Church has been infiltrated by lefties for a long time now, the same way the lefties infiltrated academia, the media, hollywood, and our government. That is why we so many homosexual priests who ought to be ousted. As it turns out, there are lefty bishops as well – probably homos too. But then again, I think most churches have these things – especially Lutherans and Mormons.
Atheist Soros Funds Catholic Groups

The above link shows the ties of the Catholic Bishops to Soros funded groups, such as the Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.
I had done much research on Rep. Tom Perriello, 5-VA. He campaigned as a pro-life Catholic Democrat. Before Perreillo’s win as a Rep. in 2008, he lived in NY for several years, and, his only source of income was from non-profits that he founded or co-founded, which were all funded by Soros, and mostly all included John Podesta on the Boards. He seemed to concentrate on the Catholic religion, and, one of the organization’s he helped organize was the CACG (mentioned above). He was a part of the strategy team as to how the Democrats could take over (for lack of a better term) not only those Catholics that sat in the pews each Sunday, but, more importantly the major Catholic organizations, such as the Conference of Catholic Bishops. Their main goal was to “downplay” the abortion issue (make it less important), and, to work on the message of taking care of all God’s children, in this case, mainly the illegal immigrants. That is who I refer to as the masses. In one of his strategy sessions with CACG, Perriello went so far as to say that priests should indicate to their parishioners, that they will be forgiven for being pro-choice, if they support the goals of the Democrats (socialists) in fighting the War on Poverty initiatives, and other social justice issues. Their only goal is to increase the Democrat voter roles. It is a George Soros brainstorming effort.

Seems that there isn’t any area of American life that Soros hasn’t tried to control.
Nice research, but ...
YankeeConservative (Diary) Saturday, March 6th at 2:14PM EST (link)It proves my point. These “groups” are not arms of the Vatican, but rather lobbyists groups. Shame on the Vatican for not coming down on the bishops, however the Catholic Church has 1 billion parishioners, and is simply too big to control. The bishops are given significant leeway with respect to political discourse, although they are given no leeway at all to define the church’s theological doctrines or overall mission. Thus, until the Pope himself issue an edict demanding that all bishops begin to work with the local political bodies to help the “masses”, even at the expense of downplaying the life issue, then “the Church” has not done anything to change its overall mission or views. Rather, some rogue bishops have gone on again simply embarrassing the church.
Catholic Church, Christianity, for that matter, is not too big.
conservos (Diary) Monday, March 8th at 9:20AM EST (link)You can’t use the same “Big Government” logic and make a “Big Church” argument.
If you want to assign blame, blame the people and their inability to be faithful to their moral conscience.
No one needs a Bishop breathing down their neck to know that abortion kills the unborn.
The other issue is fear of speaking up.
It’s an act of mercy to correct the misguided.
And for Catholics, there’s the sin of omission to contend with, where you bypass the opportunity to do/say something when you otherwise could have.
The point here is that USCB is about to support socialized medicine, which is unconscionable and will confuse many, many Catholics and Christians.
That was the purpose of this post.
Call your bishop today and voice your opinion.
Non-Catholics, too.
One party, one vote.
Work from within.
Catholics Who Vote Dem Are Morons: There! I Said It, and I'm Glad!
Ausonius (Diary) Friday, March 5th at 8:20PM EST (link)The bishops are not necessarily united on this, but the elephant in the cathedral is that too many of them are afraid of losing the money from Kennedy-style Catholics, who want to hobnob with the elitists and yet claim allegiance to the Church for whatever reason, nostalgia, connection to the middle-class, connection to an ethnic group, etc.
There is a Religion teacher in my Catholic school who openly wore MAObama buttons during the campaign, spouting the nonsense that you must “vote for the whole agenda” and not just spurn a candidate because of a pro-abortion stance.
She caused quite a bit of dissension!

Doc Holliday (Diary) Saturday, March 6th at 9:55AM EST (link)The guy basically admitted they would do things to force people to vote their way right? Isn’t this some type of violation of tax status?

The bishops have been vocal and consistent on this all along
bk (Diary) Saturday, March 6th at 7:40AM EST (link)The USCCB has pushed all along for health care reform that does not include abortion. You can read a whole string of info here and then an announcement from week before last here.
It’s fair to say you wish they were against it because Obama and the Dems are pro-abortion in general or that you dislike that they would have all the poor including illegal immigrants being given a free ride, but to act like this is some 11th hour “betrayal” is utterly ridiculous in my opinion.
