Israeli Response Justified on All Accounts

Recent accounts attacking Israel for action taken toward “humanitarian activists,” as they like to call them, have been all but factual. Israel has been victimized by anti-Semitic activists sent to “break” the barrier for the passage of weapons (likely originating from Iran) to the Gaza strip. With outside help, these terrorist groups, including Hamas and Hezbollah, have been able to launch attacks on innocent Israeli citizens and IDF troops including over 12,000 small rockets.

One accurate report said it best: “Under international law, Israel has the right to protect the lives of its civilians from Hamas attacks, and, consequently, has undertaken measures to defend itself, including the imposition of a maritime blockade to curb Hamas rearmament. Under international maritime law, when a maritime blockade is in effect, no vessels can enter the blockaded area.”

Israel’s IDF forces did the same thing the United States of America would do in similar circumstances: they fought to ensure the safety of their country and its citizens. They defended themselves when attacked on the flotilla after giving multiple warnings international maritime law requires. These armed activists had ample warning and acted defiantly, trying to ensnare Israel into a trap. Video accounts demonstrate that these terrorists were just that—and can be found at CongressNeedsFunk.com in the news page.

It is our obligation to stand with Israel, our ally, and to defend the only democracy in the Middle East. Quite different from President Obama’s strategy thus far, we must stand with our allies and support the IDF’s actions.

We live in complicated and dangerous times. Countries in the Middle East are choosing sides, and most are explicitly or implicitly falling in line with the radical Islamic terrorism that is increasingly being supported by Iran. Dave Funk is the only candidate in this race that has the experience, temperament and background to help lead during times like these. Defending our nation and our allies is one of the primary roles of the Federal government. Congress needs to deal with these terrorists and tyrannical governments. To support our allies and help defend our country, there is no one better in Iowa’s Third District than Dave Funk.

Dealing Effectively with Iran

Tehran has been taking lessons from Saddam’s old playbook. AP reported, “UN nuclear inspectors revisiting an Iranian laboratory suspected of involvement in a nuclear weapons program discovered that equipment has been removed, diplomats said Friday.”

The IAEA discovered that Iran has been running pyroprocessing experiments. This process purifies uranium metal for use in nuclear warheads. While Iran is claiming they backed off experiments back in March, they have removed the equipment for the inspection sites. In the mean time President Obama is allowing Russia to sell Iran the S-300 surface to air missile systems. Iran has been nothing but deceitful in their actions towards the world. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has publicly called for the destruction of Israel and they have enough nuclear materials for two bombs.

We need leaders in Congress and President Obama to do something real against Iran. Allowing the sale of advanced defensive weapons is not real. It is not even remotely tough. Obama continues to demonstrate in the past year that the US is unwilling to stand up to the Mullahs.

Here is how we can have effective sanctions to shut down the Iranian Regime. Start with all of the Gulf States cutting off all trade with Iran, and then they should up oil production to drive down the price to bankrupt the regime. Lastly, set up a naval blockade and prevent Iran from importing anything, including refined gasoline, further crippling the regime.

Acts of war you say? Iran is already in a covert war with many of its Arab neighbors, Israel and the United States; it’s time we as a coalition fight back effectively with out of the box ideas.

What reason does Tehran have to comply with the demands to disarm by the world? At this point, they do not really have any. More and more they will continue to build up both an offensive and defensive arsenal placing them in prime position as a nuclear power just crazy enough to possibly use it. The concept of Mutually Assured Destruction will not work with Iran, Obama and the Democrats need to face reality or the end of the world as we know it is a lot closer than we think.

Precedence to Control Your Food

The FDA recently made the decision they are going to regulate what we eat. There has been talk for years about limiting the amount of salt and other ingredients in foods but now it looks like their oppressive agenda will be arriving shortly.

The Institute of Medicine has recommended the FDA should regulate and systematically reduce the levels of salt in our food. Or in other words, control our lives. Over the next 10 years the plan is to reduce the levels of salt to approximately 2,300 mg & 1,500 mg per day and set maximum levels of salt in food at restaurants.

This unprecedented move, if successful, will only be the first.

A professor of epidemiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Michael Alderman, said “[O]ver the past generation, while sodium intake in the United States appears to be increasing, deaths from heart attacks and strokes have declined by half,” Alderman wrote. “It is also possible that a change in this single dietary element might disturb unknown nutritional interactions and thus generate other as yet unrecognized effects, good or bad.”

The issue isn’t that reducing salt levels will necessarily make us healthier but instead to set a precedent that the Federal government can control our lives.

It seems the executive branch of the government and the agencies that are accountable to it feel it’s in our best interest to control everything. Again, in an unprecedented move the FCC determined they would take control of the Internet to solve a problem that has been proven to have occurred only once, ever.

The propaganda and deceit is absurd. They ignore the will of the people and rule by oppression. How do they do this? They create precedence through small means that will allow larger changes come to fruition in the future when they seek to regulate more and more of our lives.

Global Warming Now a Religious Issue?

Recently, under direction of President Obama, there were recommendations made by the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, on a variety of issues. One of which just happened to be Global Warming.

According to the report, “The charge from President Barack Obama to the President’s Advisory Council on Faith- Based and Neighborhood Partnerships is, in part, to focus on how those partnerships can benefit persons and families who often experience barriers to full participation in the Nation’s abundance.”

They have created nine recommendations to involve the “disadvantaged” in community, faith based initiatives.

The first three recommendations are intended to promote energy efficiency and create green jobs. They think we should expand the EPA by adding employee representatives from the Council at the EPA and their regional offices. The next two recommendations are to start an environmental education campaign including utilizing Environment.gov to push this campaign. The sixth recommendation is about supporting sustainable community gardening and small-scale farming. The last three recommend implementing a task force to help with climate change adaptation.

President Obama has proven he will use any avenue he can to persuade Americans that Global Warming is, in fact, real. With recommendations from a faith-based council President Obama thinks he can sway moderate Republicans via “Global Warming” education, green jobs, and more government spending, or in other words, propaganda.

This will not work. We cannot let them spend more money on this baseless, politicized issue that NO ONE on the left is willing to vet. Countless times Congress and the President have proven that to them, ignorance truly is bliss. Never mind selling out our children’s financial future. Never mind destroying US manufacturing. Never mind tax oppression to pay for the obscene cost of government. Never mind the Constitution. Using religious leaders won’t sway the American people because we’ve been through this one too many times during Obama’s Presidency.

We know God obligated us to be stewards of this great planet of ours. It is not going to cost us billions of dollars and our future to fulfill this obligation. All it is going to require is us stopping this trillion dollar mistake and pay no attention to the smokescreens the Left is throwing our way and let the real conservationists meet that obligation.

The Left is Gerrymandering American Citizenship

The United States of America is the greatest nation on earth. Unfortunately, the left does not recognize that. In the name of their so-called “human” and “civil” rights they are on the verge of granting amnesty to some 13 million illegal aliens; essentially ceding American sovereignty to the rest of the world.

America takes pride in our ability to be a free and diverse people that function under the rule of law. With the recent law passed in Arizona that essentially just gives local law enforcement authority to enforce federal immigration law, it seems those in the Whitehouse and Congress are already planning for amnesty. They seem to have taken on the mantra that it is against the law to enforce the law and any form of immigration enforcement is racist. After all, President Obama himself politicized the race card once the law was signed and his very own AG Eric Holder has sent the Justice Department to harass those responsible for enforcing Federal law with absolutely no cause or basis.

So in the face of a strong majority of Americans that support the Arizona law and real enforcement of Federal immigration law the left, again, fights against the will of the people. WorldNetDaily news has reported that the Department of Homeland Security has already drafted a plan to process and give amnesty under the guise of Comprehensive Immigration Reform. While this isn’t surprising considering the terrible job Janet Napolitano has done with securing our Nation, they are out to solve the effect and not the cause. As we all know this will just lead to continual amnesty. We have already sold out our country financially now that the rest of the world owns us. Now we are selling open access to our borders to the rest of the world.

It is one thing for the Federal government to take over huge chunk’s of our economy as they did with healthcare, the Wall Street bailouts, the bank takeovers and stealing control of GM and Chrysler, but to give up our borders is against everything the Federal government has been allowed to do by our Divine Constitution. This is not about human rights nor is it about civil rights. This is about gerrymandering citizenship to retain power. Nothing more. Nothing less.

This is a gross abuse of Federal power. I have been called the angry Constitutionalist in the past, but quite frankly, it doesn’t seem so unreasonable to be angry at this point. They are not just disregarding the Constitution anymore, they are trampling it.

Cap & Trade: 1st Degree Larceny

I read an interesting article on the American Thinker where the author showed an interesting theme from this C&T bill.

The entire purpose of C&T is to put a cap on CO2 emissions. “Presently, 40 percent of CO2 emissions in the United States are derived from electricity generation, 35 percent from transportation, and 25 percent from business, industry, and natural gas to heat homes.”

The current goal in the Senate bill which came from the House bill is to reduce emissions by 17%. So where will this 17% come from? I wrote last week about the emissions exchange in Chicago and they’ve even said this will be a $10 trillion market. This sets up Richard Sandor (patent holder of the exchange), Al Gore, Goldman-Sachs and others to make billions of dollars.

On top of that Government Officials have increased their estimate of tax revenue from C&T to be between $1.3 and $1.4 trillion. So the obscene politicians that are pushing this are going to first make a ton of cash for their own pockets, but then take all our money for their federal coffers.

The Wallstreet Journal reported that “excess revenues from any cap and trade bill that passes Congress will be used to compensate vulnerable families, communities and businesses.”

Hints of redistribution of wealth? Actually, it’s pretty explicit if you ask me. Take our money, make themselves rich, then give whatever is left to “compensate” the “vulnerable” or, redistribute our money to those who haven’t earned it. This may include the three years of 70% unemployment that unemployed get when a job is lost to overseas manufacturing. After they redistribute wealth here in the US, the world is their next target.

By reducing Co2 emissions by 17% they will also be simultaneously reducing the number of manufacturing jobs available in the US. By forcing these jobs overseas they will also be redistributing wealth to the rest of world by giving those jobs to others that belong to the American people.

Inevitably inflation will hit. It is unavoidable. Energy prices WILL go up, goods and services will be more expensive, unemployment will increase from even more manufacturing going overseas and more and more people will have no health insurance because we’re paying for a terrible healthcare bill that doesn’t even start for 4 years.

Why are we the lucky ones to be oppressed by the left? Because of some junk science that claims falsehoods and fabricated lies so those liars will be able to steal our money.

Isn’t Government Supposed to Protect Us? Not Dumb Luck?

The numerous media reports from this past weekend seem to be more about minimizing the political damage than about reporting the real implications. Repeatedly from the likes of Janet Napolitano, twice referring to it as a “one-off attack” to NY Senator Chuck Schumer stating it was a “lone wolf” attack to NYC Mayor Bloomberg speculating that the attacker could be a mentally deranged person upset with the Obama administration’s new health care policy. Unfortunately we have to get the real implications from Stephen Colbert rather than the “real” media as you can see in a video here.

It comes down to these two things. As much as they’d like to convince us this was a pathetic, incompetent, amateurish attack it was still an attack. Second, if it were an individual acting alone, it would be almost impossible to detect prior to execution. But a multi-participant event would provide many more opportunities to disrupt it, if our current Administration were really trying.

Not that long ago, other attackers were called “isolated extremists” by our President, despite ample evidence that the Christmas bomber on a flight into Detroit clearly did not act alone, nor did the Fort Hood shooter. Can you see the pattern here?

Our government is failing miserably in their primary role, which is, protecting the citizens of the United States of America. We shouldn’t have to depend on “dumb luck” to keep us safe. What does Janet Napolitano have to say about it? Virtually nothing. No explanation. No answer why this person who was recently put on the “no-fly” list was able to board a plane. No answer as to how this amateur as they called him, managed to almost kill hundreds of Americans.

Let’s see what Napolitano’s “amateur” could have done:

New York Daily News reported from Kevin Barry, a retired NYPD bomb squad supervisor and the head of the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators,

“‘Several hundred’ could have been killed or maimed by a fireball exploding from the Nissan Pathfinder found loaded down with firecrackers, fertilizer, gasoline, propane and alarm clocks.

“The propane-fueled flames wouldn’t have brought down any buildings and would have lasted only a few seconds, but with flames shooting as high as 30 feet, the toll on people nearby would have been devastating, Barry said.

“The fireball would have caused horrific lung damage and fried the hair and faces of anyone within a 50-yard radius.

“‘It could burn the throat and then cause death. It’s a difficult thing to deal with,’ Barry said. “‘We came within a millisecond,’ added Barry, who put in 35 years with the NYPD, the last 20 years on the bomb squad. ‘Because had that detonator functioned correctly, we would have had a huge explosion.’

“Luckily, Barry said, the crude car bomb’s homemade detonator malfunctioned. “‘It may not have been sophisticated,’ Barry said of the bomb.’ [But] it worked. It didn’t function as he designed it to. The main charge did not go off. That was a critical mistake for him.’”

Colbert was right, this is pretty scary. There have been far too many instances where our national security has been compromised since President Obama has been in the Whitehouse. We need to be DEMANDING that Janet Napolitano resign from her post as Homeland Security Secretary. It is time for our government to FINALLY start acting the way it should and protect America from even “amateurish” attacks.

From Housing to Carbon: Special Interests Rule

By Dave Funk, Congressional Candidate Iowa-03 and Steve Schultz, Political Consultant

It really is that simple. Right now President Obama and Senate Democrats plan to fix the environment via cap and trade (C&T). Well, C&T is not nearly as “honorable” as the left makes it out to be.

The economic crises we are now experiencing is largely due to the irresponsible use of mortgage-backed securities. These securities were in fact highly regulated and we know how well the hokey pokey between Wall Street and Washington worked out.

Well now we move on to Carbon, or frankly, ANY emission’s exchange. There is a Chicago based company called the Chicago Climate Exchange, Inc. This company was originally funded by seed capital from the city’s Joyce Foundation where President Obama was a board member of at the time of its funding. Now, the Chicago Climate Exchange is trading about $10 billion a month worldwide according to an interview by its founder (and patent holder) Richard Sandor. Former Chief of Goldman Sachs, Hank Paulsen was also key in the founding of this company and exchange.

Rewind two years from the time their patent was approved and our very own Fannie Mae received approval for their patent of a residential emission exchange. Which, by the way, was approved the same day the political right sealed their fate, November 7th, 2006.

Richard Sandor claims this exchange will be global and will become a $10 trillion market. So the question is what cunning schemes Washington and other global leaders devise to create a market that will have artificial value? In an interview with Bloomberg Sandor said that there is no risk of the emissions market ever crashing because it’s “regulated” and not open like mortgage-backed securities. Mortgage-backed securities WERE highly regulated. So you likely understand my concern with the SEC regulating an industry that according to Sandor doesn’t have the “opaque” value mortgage-backed securities had when that same agency doesn’t have a stellar record when it comes to securities trading.

Furthemore, Goldman Sachs, a favorite of President Obama and many other Democrats in Congress, just happens to own 19% of the parent company of this Chicago based emissions exchange company called Climate Exchange Plc.

Barbara Hollingsworth described it best saying,

“But passage of the legislation would create an artificial, government-mandated, trillion-dollar carbon trading market that would drive up the price of energy, indirectly making housing more expensive.

“If the proprietary emissions trading system functions like other exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange, which makes most of its revenue on listing and trading fees, its owners could see extremely generous profits, especially with a patent that keeps out competition for two decades.”

Not to scream conspiracy or anything but here are our concerns.

What special interests are behind the actual language and writing of current energy policies and C&T that will be debated? After seeing the corruption and special interest slant behind the stimulus package, healthcare bill and current financial reform bill Obama wants to debate, we’re curious to see what other sweetheart deals Fannie Mae is going to walk away with. Will there be some sort of residential carbon tax? Will C&T just be another Ponzi scheme created to give special interests more power?

They are essentially creating an enormous emissions exchange that will make all involved rich, really quick. That is Chicago politics at its best. Create a law that will make special interests even more money. We saw the housing bubble burst; imagine a $10 trillion market crash and its impact on the world. Based on the distrust that the actions of those in Congress have built with the American people I can only imagine how long it would take for this Ponzi scheme to meltdown. After all, an artificial market with artificial value could only last so long.
