Need A Job? Ain’t Hip To Be Square

One of liberalism’s unsolved paradoxical leaps of logic is the idea that we can legislate our way to fairness.  There is nothing that the Government can’t balance, regulate, or justify, yet despite how hard they try, they just seem to make it worse.  Imagine if you will the daunting prospects of finding a job in this Carterlike “O”conomy.  Good.  Imagine too, that you are a good worker, a solid citizen and a trustworthy employee.  Good.  Now imagine that because of those quality traits you are screwed.

http://blogs.payscale.com/compensation/2010/05/hr-guide-to-hiring-felons.html

Yes you read right, the infinite wisdom of D.C. has created an absolute can’t miss idea.  We will fix felon joblessness by tilting the system in their favor.  Don’t think it does?  You think this brings balance?  Understand that if two people could be hired, one a con, and the other clean, the person not worth a tax credit is at a significant disadvantage.  But wait there is more,

http://oet.ky.gov/des/employer/tax_credit.htm

On food stamps?  Great you are hired.  But don’t expect to get very good pay.  Do I want to shut these folk out?  Nope.  Not at all.  But I don’t believe in creating a policy based on special treatment.  It is a major reason I am conservative.  You bat, you hit, and the home run part is up to you.  Don’t expect me to cater to your whining.

I am looking for work, as I do internet marketing and it is growing slowly, and when I apply I always get the fill this survey out as we are eligible for tax credits.  Invariably I don’t qualify under these standards.  Invariably I hear crickets from HR departments.  But still I push on, confident that the like minded will find me and I will be rewarded for my efforts.  But message to idiot liberals, I refuse to rob a bank to eventually get a job.  And the Berklunacy continues.

A Counter To The Definition of Insanity

Last night Obama treated us to Stimulus 4.0, Electric Boogaloo.  This time he made perfectly clear in aggressive fashion that he once again has no clue how an economy works.  Let us compare his ideas to the childhood lemonade stand.  Now this stand has no customers.  It may well have good lemonade but nobody knows because there is nobody getting any.  Now here comes Obama, confidently striding down the street with a plan.  He is going to give you a tax credit to hire more workers.  That is great you think, if you were making enough money to pay taxes. And even with a refundable credit, it still does not solve the problem of no customers.  Where are you going to get the money to hire and pay wages?  How is demand going to stimulate?  Of course Obama thinks the government enables the private sector, so he is shocked when you tell him you have not any need for employees, as you don’t sell any lemonade.

This plan does nothing to create jobs, aside from narrow crony capitalism aimed at unions.  These are temporary jobs and serve no long term goals towards stability.  The fact is this is not all Obama, as the average American gets socked for about 50 percent of their income in some form of tax.  Sales tax, income tax, phone tax, gas tax, food tax, state income tax, yet still, despite all this spending, poverty continues to increase, and crime continues to escalate and you continue to fall behind.  What are needed is tax cuts.  Not just for the wealthy but for the middle class.  But wait, did he not propose a middle class tax cut?  No what he proposed was a butchering of Social Security funding, because he refuses to tell his base the freebies have to be reduced.  He would rather cut Grandma’s throat than Lakeisha’s.  Is that racist?  If you think so.  Do I gave a rat’s patootey?  What do you think?
The fact is jobs require growth, and quite simply growth requires demand, and that requires more money in people’s pockets.  But there is no Peter Obama has ever met he would not rob to pay his buddy Paul.  So in effect, his so called tax cut is just dismantling Social Security, which hurts the elderly, which he could care less about.  Real tax cuts require real spending cuts, and I would much rather see welfare reformed so Americans have more to spend because demand will increase and many of those welfare recipients will have jobs.  But that is a simple approach.  Maybe there is a better way.  Oh yes tax credits to hire the unemployed.  Great give employers a cookie for not discriminating.  What is next?  Tax credits for youth, for Mexicans?  How about we just create a list of who we should encourage the private sector to hire?  Let us start with the disadvantaged abused children of single mothers who never made it to college.  Let’s give them the jobs.  This man does not get it, part of equality is the fact you sometimes lose; equality is the chance to hit, not to be guaranteed a home run.  Do I think the unemployed should be protected?  Absolutely.  Through law.  Not tax revenue blackmail.
But wait let us extend the unemployment benefits.  Does that create a job?  When I was a kid we were hard up.  I mean bad.  So my Ma and I collected cans.  We took those cans and cashed them in and then bought a lawnmower and hawked our landscaping services.  We got by.  Did we thrive?  Nah, but we got by.  Did we deserve a handout?  No we, we deserved a hand up, meaning some assistance, but geared towards work.  We did what had to be done.  I will support welfare and food stamps for anyone willing to grab a broom;  I will even pay for the day care.  But this leeching has got to stop.  I will extend your unemployment benefits if you make these people do something;  substitute teach, work at a nursing home, even rehab old houses.  If the money is going to be spent, see to it the least we get is dignity and self worth in the people we spend it on.  Cut the garbage, cut the waste, and take the savings and dump it into people’s pockets.  Reward success.  Encourage it.
With that in mind here is my counter proposal:
First we cut taxes across the board.  I would lean towards a larger cut for the middle class but as I said I believe in equality.  We pay for this by streamlining government and cutting waste.
Second we suspend all, and I mean ALL foreign aid.  We take that $500 billion dollars and invest in among other things, innovation and small business development.  We take many of the chronically unemployed and put them in a newly established entrepreneurial school network.  We give them a crash course in management and business operation.  We would  recruit and choose suitable people for this, but would base it on drive and energy as well.  This would allow for real hope.
Third I would immediately convene a convention made up of the sharpest minds in business, and the strongest voices in labor.  I would have the two factions meet and discuss candidly the gaps between the two interests.  I would ask them to brainstorm ideas for new inventions, tax policies, needed regulatory changes, and wage growth.  I would have them formulate a proposal that is passable and present it to Congress to address these goals.
Fourth, I would immediately direct that all state funded secondary education require the fundamentals of business and management as part of any degree.
Fifth, as many areas of our country are reliant upon tourism, I would pass an immediate tax deduction to working families to apply to the the cost of a vacation;  I view the opportunity to spend relaxing quality time with family as a necessity to happiness, and this would have a direct stimulative effect on the tourism industry.
Sixth, I would immediately repeal Obamacare.  I would replace it with a reform of Medicaid to allow for buy in and co pays based on sliding scale incomes, but the private sector would be left alone.  I anticipate this cost to be break even and even deficit positive.
Seventh, I would work to immediately pass an Innovation Sovereignty Act, which would make a deal that all new innovations to not be outsourced for a period of 10 years in exchange for a zero percent income tax rate, and regulatory easing.  The program would be voluntary.  These could range from technology to medical, and the stimulative impact could be massive.
These are but a few of the many thoughts I have moving forward as to how to reclaim the excellence we Americans are born to pursue.  They say the definition of insanity is doing the same things over again and expecting a different result.  Clearly Obama is insane, and stuck in the past.  It is time to prove that his disease does not afflict us as well.  Come 2012, let us prove that we are sane, that we will not do the same thing over and over again.  Vote for American excellence.  Vote, for American sanity.

I Am a Real Democrat, Therefore I Now Vote Republican

I had the distinct pleasure of watching the GOP candidates debate, and I learned something shocking.  They are not, despite the New York Times propaganda, crazy.  They are diverse, intelligent constructs of a party that allows for free thought, unlike dogmatic liberalism I now renounce.  But fair warning, I am Pro God, which by liberal definition means I force Him into the faces of others.  I am against 12 year olds signing off on their own abortions, which means I despise women.  I believe Herman Cain agrees with my beliefs on minority empowerment, so he too must be a racist.  Even the now wilted specter of Michelle Bachmann, successfully castrated by a viciously sexist question in the previous debate, was not any sort of boogeywoman.  What we had was an intelligent thoughtful exchange of ideas.  Some of these ideas may not work, and others have merit.  Cain’s thoughts on taxation I found intriguing but impractical, but hey, at least it was an idea.  A freaking idea.  But wait, other ideas reared their head as well.  Ideas like using military drones to track illegals, (Governor Perry) support of a guest worker program (Speaker Gingrich) and of course there was Mitt.  Poor Mitt.  He would have been a great 60′s Republican.  Today he would be better off as a Democrat.  But he is a good fella and a smart man, so he has a place.  Just not in the White House.

As many of you know I am an ardent Perry supporter.  He did well.  Not great, but for first time out, pretty well.  He was attacked constantly and held his own, and he never wavered on his beliefs.  We do need straight talk; no it is not realistic to assume today’s youth will have Social Security, by definition a Ponzi Scheme.  Should we reform it?  Sure.  Will Rick destroy it?  Of course not.  And you know that. He just wanted to make a point about unfunded entitlements.  But sometimes the truth is a despised enemy of the power.  He will err on the side of saving lives, his words, and I believe him.  Lil’ Old Ladies won’t starve and children won’t freeze.  But with the Excuse Maker in Chief?  Who knows about the man who would quote the Koran and refer to it as Holy but mock the Bible and accuse Christians of being bitter.  Where lacks Jesus, lacks love and where lacks love, lacks conscience.  The same people who advocate the murder of 8 month old babies are not the same people who will truly fight for health care, or good jobs.
This I do know.  I know that my whole life I have believed in the power of our people.  I support reasonable safety nets, but personal empowerment.  We can’t allow our country to become a bread line; we must prevent a collapse into complete dependency.  But even at this point, Obama does not truly care about jobs.  In this new bill he proposes more spending on unemployment extensions, but could that spending not go directly to the SBA, or works programs?  No I don’t want these people to starve but blast it I want them to get out of bed.  We have lost our excellence and drive towards excellence.  In order to be a Democrat you have to capitulate to social permissiveness, to political correctness, and nanny stating.  Democrats I grew up with were largely socially conservative, economically populist, and went to Church.  They did not mock God, like many currently do, and they respected our rights to worship.  We now live in a society that publicly respects Ramadan more than Christmas, Muslim more than Christian, and even the Attorney General, while stating tacitly blacks can’t be guilty of a hate crime, used the power of his office to defend a Muslim teacher from being fired for taking time off to worship.  Try getting the teacher’s union to back you up when you miss work for a church bake sale.  But really America, look around.  Who are the givers?  Do you see latte fueled hipster liberals working food banks?  Or is it almost always the good folk from Church, who constantly give of themselves to help their neighbor, as the Bible teaches, and who want only in return the chance to slip a Psalm in your pocket, and to invite you to listen to the Word.  I respect your right to follow a different faith but I require you to respect mine.  I had to detach myself from the rhetoric and see for myself the empty lip service the Democratic Party had become.  With each passing day I feel better about myself, more in tune with God, and am a nicer person.  My Wife has seen this.  My friends have too.  I don’t beat the Bible, and I am surely no Saint.  But when faced with a choice of amoral narcissists, who say one thing then do another, educated to the point of idiocy, confident only the sound of their own words, or good hearted farmers, and mechanics, and churchgoers who I have seen selflessly give of themselves for the benefit of others, what side do you think I should stand by?  I believe Governor Perry will win, and bring jobs back to America.  I believe it because I trust him.  I trust him because I have seen the good hearted farmer in action, and the love he has for his people is evident.  He is a doer, a decision maker, and a leader.  He prays publicly and unabashedly, and why is that so crazy?  It is not.  It is mainstream America, whether the media likes it or not.
I am and will always be a certain type of Democrat. Some call me Southern or Blue Dog, but I will support equality, and defense, and doing right for my country.  I will support fair tax policy, and respect for God, and human decency.  I will work to reduce abortions and provide safe streets and good schools.  I prioritize paychecks before excuses and excellence over mediocrity.  I believe in the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and feel they deserve more respect.  I believe the Government has grown oppressive, and burdensome, and needs to be reduced.  I believe the poor should be fed first through their earnings, so they can someday cease to be poor, and then only if needed through welfare, with some kind of incentive attached, be it labor or educational.  But most of all, I believe in you.  It is for these reasons, that this certain type of Democrat, is now a Republican.  God Bless all.
