What to DO? Asking the right question. (Hint: has something to do with being a PC.)

I watched Sean Hannity’s show tonight on Fox. There he was on the stage at the Minneapolis Convention Center with a crowd in the background. On stage with him were Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann. He threw out a question to the crowd: “How many of you here are in the ‘Tea Party movement?’” The crowd roared. As some say, “Whoopdee effing doo.”

Holding a sign or waving a flag at a rally ain’t gonna change a damn thing. Sorry. Dems da facts.

The question he should have asked was, “How many of you here are IN the Republican Party as precinct committeemen?” And shame on Hannity and Palin and Bachmann for not educating the good people who were there. What in the h-e-double hockey sticks are they afraid of?

Please, someone, what am I missing here?

Thank you.

To ask the question is to answer it (as you well know)!

As you have mentioned on several (many) occasions, what do the current leaders of the Party fear most? Exactly the thing the Precinct Project envisions: a takeover of the party from and by the grassroots. As for our pundits, I wonder how many of them even know what a Precinct Captain is, what they do, or how one goes about BECOMING ONE, or why.The politicos, even those on ‘our’ side won’t disseminate what you do unceasingly for exactly the grassroots reason above.

All the more reason for each of us with 2-3 hours of discretionary time per month to pick up the phone and call your county chair (Google yourcounty Republican Party) to get the ball rolling. Just do it! Today! I promise it doesn’t hurt, and winning is fun!

Someone has to ask the question.

So I will. Are you saying the only way to be in the fight is to be a precinct committeeman?

No, I don't think I've ever said it's the only way to fight.

But if you want to be able to cast a vote for who leads the Republican Party, being a precinct committeemen is the ONLY way to do that. “Mere” registered voters don’t get to do that. ONLY the elected precinct committeemen do.

If you want a conservative majority in the ranks of the Republican Party itself, the ONLY way to achieve that is for conservatives to actually fill up all the vacant precinct committeemen positions.

Bottom line, there is a political ball game that is played. The players are the precinct committeemen. The fans are the non-precinct committeemen. If you want to handle the ball and play the real game, you must become a precinct committeeman.

Go to www.GOP.com. Look around the site. First big button you’ll see is a DONATE button. They want you to become a “member.” Not a precinct committeeman, only a “member” of GOP.com. So they can bombard you with pleas for money.

Search the site for precinct, committeeman and delegate. The only thing you might find is something I’ve posted on the site in a discussion forum about the subject. But nothing by the RNC itself.

Wonder why? Um, it’s BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT YOU, who wants to “do something,” to do what matters. Why not? Because they know that if ENOUGH conservatives figure out what to do, all the RNC bigwigs could be out of a job. And all their entrenched contractors could be replaced.

Look at the ridiculous GOP.com site. They still have up on it a button to “Vote NO on Socialized Healthcare.” Hello???? Who is minding this store?

Becoming a precinct committeeman in the Republican Party, in my humble opinion, should be the first priority of any conservative who fancies himself a “political activist” because INSIDE THE PARTY is the one place where we can UNITE to become POLITICALLY RELEVANT. Besides, it’s our civic DUTY. Besides, we owe it to those who are putting themselves in harm’s way so we can have the right to determine are elected servants.

Change the Republican Party and we may be able to change the outcome of the primary elections. Which means we may be able to change the outcome of the general elections.

That’s called a strategy. If you have a better one, I’m all ears.

Thank you.

In 2012, will YOU become a “voting member” of the Republican Party in your precinct?

In my case, my precinct already has an excellent committeeman. I supported his run for city council. I’m quite sure I couldn’t do as well as he, let alone better.

All I’m saying is, just because someone isn’t a committeemen doesn’t mean they aren’t engaged doing other things that are just as important.

But whatever other things you're engaged in,

important or not, they do not ever include voting for Party leadership, within the Party. The list of important tasks is lengthy, but instituting conservative leadership of the Party has to be priority number one. That you cannot do unless you are an elected PC. That is why the issue itself is not emphasized, unless of course your name is ColdWarrior!

If the person that’s currently the committeeman for my precinct is as conservative than I.

I’m not trying to downplay the importance of CW’s crusade. I just recognize that there are a lot of important things that need to be done. None should be done to the exclusion of the others.
