		<description>I&#039;m not making this up.

Despite beginning the call by explaining that our very freedom was at stake if the Dem&#039;s health care bill passes, John Shadegg could not find it within him to tell these conservatives to come into the Party as precinct committeemen -- a Party that had 50 per cent of its PC slots VACANT in the 2008 election cycle.

Instead, Rep. Shadegg. told the over 10,000 conservatives on the AFP call they should talk to their friends and neighbors and hairdressers and golf partners and the people they play bridge with and their brother and sisters and their checkout ladies about how bad the Dems&#039; bill is. Then, if it gets close to passage, we should all call our Senators and Representatives.

That&#039;s it. That&#039;s his plan.

One caller wanted to know if Obama was trying to destroy the country. Shadegg thinks Obama just thinks capitalism is bad and that socialism and communism are better than capitalism. He thinks Obama thinks in terms of what&#039;s best for the collective rather than what&#039;s best for the individual. He doesn&#039;t think Obama has bad intentions.

AFP conducted an online poll during the call of the callers. Of those who responded, 50 per cent had called the DC office of their Representative, 16 per cent had called their Representative&#039;s district office, 21 per cent had been to a Tea Party or rally or town hall meeting, 3 per cent had faxed their Representative and 9 per cent had e-mailed their Representative.

These people took the time to spend an hour on the phone with Rep. Shadegg. These people obviously want to &quot;do something&quot; that will have an effect. Yet for some reason Rep. Shadegg would not tell them about the most effective thing they could do.

Why not?

I think I know the answer.

Thank you.

<description>But then I got to learn more about him.

And the more I learned, the less I liked.

Can you imagine a &quot;conservative&quot; Republican actually encouraging conservative Republicans to NOT get involved at the grassroots level as precinct committeemen? I wrote about it at the time here back on May 4 (you&#039;ll have to scroll down for me comments):

http://www.redstate.com/martin_a_knight/2009/05/05/the-committeeman-project/

Rep. John Shadegg actually told the Republican Jewish Coalition in Scottsdale to NOT join either the Maricopa County GOP or the AZ GOP. I’m not making this up. He admitted it to me on the phone. Read about it here:

http://www.gopusa.com/arizona/news/shadegg_rjc_0904131.shtml

And guess what? Lisa James, Shadegg’s new chief of staff, was McCain’s AZ campaign director, if I’m not mistaken. She has twice run against Randy Pullen for the AZ chairmanship. Lost by FOUR votes two years ago. Lost by about twenty this year.

The good news is that at my Legislative District meeting last night our Chairman had 50 PC appointment certificates to hand out to new PCs and most of the them were conservative and many of them were young.

Thanks.
