If we continue to compromise, move to the left and try to please all people then our party is doomed to failure. We need to stand for something and communicate that to the American People. I’m not here to tell you what you should stand for but I personally believe in protecting those who can least protect themselves (the unborn and the elderly are but two examples) and I believe the government should provide a strong national defense to protect us from those who want to destroy us. Make no mistake about it they want to absolutely and utterly destroy us. I also believe the government should not be in the business of taking my hard-earned money and wasting it on studying the shenanigans of the snail-darter in some stream in the middle of nowhere (and you can insert all kinds of “pork” in this sentence.)

I see there are many internal battles pitting “conservatives” against “conservatives” which are counterproductive at best and absolutely destructive at worst. If we want to become the party of inconsequence then by all means let’s continue to water down the message, compromise our principals, try to be all things to all people, and stand for nothing. We’ll never be able to please everybody in this country, that’s just a fact and we need to accept it. Only when we stand together as a party and stand for something will we win.
