From the time of Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan to the British, Soviets and now the US and NATO, Afghanistan’s poppy fields, barren plains and rugged mountains are filled with the ghosts and treasuries of would-be conquerors. Sooner or later, America, Canada and NATO will meet the same dismal fate as everyone who went before them.
George Bush invaded Afghanistan in 2001 to rid it of al Qaeda and its Taliban protectors, taking away a “safe haven” for plotters of the 9/11 attacks. Since this was accomplished in a matter of weeks with relatively few American deaths, Bush’s neo-con puppet masters [...and I pretty much stopped reading there. Danielle Davis (ocleverone) (Diary) Sunday, September 13th at 7:33PM EST (link)This has been the bloodiest year in the Afghan war. Why is that? Well, that would be because your Lord and Master changed the Rules of Engagement. There were four valiant Marines that lost their lives last week trying to give freedom to Afghan people and keep the enemy away from our shores.
They were denied air cover due to the new rules of engagement implemented since Obama came into office. The Taliban (you know that handful of non-existing enemy) ambushed them . Because they were empowered – they know that we have a campaigner for president not a CinC.
Funny, we were making some great strides in Afghanistan before this year. Why was that and why has it changed?
Ask the man whose boots you lick why he has tied the hands of the military.
To me, “consensus” seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects … There are still people in my party who believe in “consensus” politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors … I mean it. — Margaret Thatcher

Bush handed Obama
ktsub (Diary) Sunday, September 13th at 8:06PM EST (link)an half-way stable Afghanistan, now its going up in flame. Bad mission changes, at least Bush was holding it down with ample firepower, now Obama will not let the soliders fire unless fired specifically at. Obama is giving the place up.
