Social Policy question

Hi

I’ve been thinking about this issue for a long time but I really feel like I need to talk about it so this is why I decided to blog about it.

It’s MARRIAGE

As a Roman Catholic I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman as God divinely intended and is a foundation of american society in my opinion. Meanwhile I tentatively(sorry for bad spelling)support anyone STRONGLY qualified  to raise a child/children to adopt regardless of sexual orinetation. In addition I believe LGBT children ought to be given special protections if people chooses to target them for SPECIFIC reasons for murder or assault or heinous crimes like that . But to be honest I am somewhat fluid and way open about this tumultuous issue.

In summation my position of LGBT rights is more or less compatible to The Church of Latter Day Saints(see “Salt Lake city LGBT protections).

Now here’s my issue with the issue. When I was young(I actually still am) I was bullied for being different and was considered an outcast and a werido because of these experiences my heart goes out to the LGBT community especially if they can’t help who they are. This is one reason why I support civil unions to an extent.

Then I have another reason. Suicide. A lot of teenagers kill themselves because they believe being ‘out” causes them to be shunned and ostracized. For me that tears me apart if they wanna be who they are then they should live as they please as their choices.

Other than this I would like to consider myself a moderately religious conservative.I’m pro life, pro abstinence and pro religious freedom and of course pro family.

Now the issue I have is how to handle my belief on same sex marriage. I mean I know its to have courage and faith and guidance by god but its a little hard. Knowing people commit suicide  over issues like these. And it saddens me to know that they feel equal and less human,. Sometimes I wish we simply didn’t talk about it but I guess this is what one goes through when they have principles.

Feedback? Advice -P.S I decided to do some public policy posts from now on for those who need a break from politics and want to have some thoughtful red meat discussions.

Another P.S  and another reason I also did a post was to address this simple(but somewhat selfish) issue I aspire a career in public service to reform the system and improve society for the better but I am concerned my belief may alienate me from such positions(i.e an elected post that may not even address the issue). I know it sounds selfish and I am sorry for my fluidity on this issue.

And apologies if I offended anyone…

Statement about Weiner resignation and commentary

Ok so I know we conservatives should not nosy into the matters of people’s lives but I feel that I must write about this. Weiner finally resigned ok now the media can go back to discussing the issues and this guy can go get help. Unfortunately as a result of his sins his reputation is ruined and like Foley of Florida he will lose a career that he loved. Before all this happened he appeared on Fox frequently so I respected him appealing his views to a network that happened to be more conservative than he would like. Then when it all began like his friend comedian Jon Steward I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Then we all found out he lied and now he did what was probably best for him and his family. While reading the story I came across an evil comment that posted that due to Weiner’s sin his child should not be born….. That comment concerned me then after using google I came across this :o

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/06/11/984149/-Abort,-Huma,-Abort!

Now I know many of you don’t think highly of the DailyKos but seriously, his wife killing an unborn child because of the scandal the thought of it scares me. Because of him and his sins THIS MAN NEEDS HELP NOT FURTHER PUNISHMENT sorry for my yelling but posts like these display why I cannot ever adhere to extreme liberal thought. The way it slams life and dismisses a child as nothing. It just goes to show how low society can get. I know it is not my business or ours but for me this post inflames my pro life values and inspires me to fight for the right to life. Just exactly how can a child like me protect others who can’t protect themselves. For now I will simply pray and hope and  that Planned Parenthood loses its funding and that Roe V Wade will revert back to the states and that one day one day abortion will be abolished…..

Help Huey Stop Hahn’s atttacks on Pro Life Principles

Watch this video that Ms.Janice Hahn created attacking both her opponent’s and Sarah Palin’s pro life principles. Why is Hahn trying to divide us at such a concerning times. Ask yourself can you take another mudslinger in Congress or help give an underdog conservative a better chance winning in a Liberal district.  If yes on the latter please support Pro Life conservative Craig Huey a citizen who wants to make a change in Congress also  watch this ad and ask yourself are these types of ads really productive or do they simply turn voters off from voting.

If you can help please can the election is soon in July……. Donate,or if you live there volunteer time is running out please help California take a step back towards its past conservative views. Please help California be the Golden State again by electing some of us.

The opportunity of Special Elections

Earlier I reported about the outcomes of two recent special elections one that should be mourned over while the other should be celebrated but both events should serve as lessons. During these elections turnout is obviously low mostly due to the short notice of such events and as a yet they make a golden opportunity for us to gain seats via our activism. Now I know I am only talking about House elections but we need to make an effort for every seat to be a conservative at least republican seat every district deserves to have the chance to choose a conservative and the best chance for a conservative to get elected in swing/liberal districts are via special elections(provided a base that turns out and adequete fundraising both variables which are difficult to obtain in such short notice though)

One of the main reasons for my ranting about special elections is the an election two years ago that could have predicted the 2010 tea party landslide but no it instead signaled how strong the Democratic Party in my home state California. We Republicans could have had a chance to elect the first Chinese American to Congress but no we gave that to the Democrats. Monterey Rep.Chu seems to be a classy woman(I read about her and she doesn’t seem so bad excluding Pro Choice and Big Union views and ties that turn me off) but I would have been more pleased if her cousin in law was elected. Yah this was an interesting election to read about I suggest you check it out here and its links.

I end this diary saying there’s hope and there’s a chance in CA 36th a Mr.Craig Huey is running for Jane Harman’s seat against a LA councilwoman Janice Hahn. Huey a businessman navigated through 6 recessions is a concerned citizen worried about our country’s path like many here. His issue statements often relate about freedom and liberty(for example the net and nutritional freedom. Mr.Huey has the support of Principled and Important California conservatives such as  2010 Senate Nominee Chuck DeVore or Rep.Tom MCclintok. Please support him or at least check him out at his campaign site http://www.craighuey.com/

Thank You for your time

A Debt Free America(only a dream till now hopefully)

Wouldn’t it nice to know that our government kept reserves in our treasury similar to a way a family keeps some savings for a little something. Think of the possibilities…..

One day the government could give all of us workers(well in my case my parents as of now) a tax refund that can be spent on a college savings fund for the kids or a vacation to Disneyland or simply on more groceries

Maybe the Fed can give all our forces a bonus as appreciation for their duty and sacrifice, they definitely deserve it, and maybe a bonus for those Veterans too they deserve it just as much…

A natural disaster strikes a random state at a unexpecting time Emergency Aid via the reserve funds are instantly delivered to the places in need without the need for Congress to draft, pass and approriate bills saving time and maybe lives….

Ahhhh what we can do but….. instead the Political class chooses to bury us in debt catering to the needs of both Coorprate and Union bosses instead of the average joe. Leaving the little guy behind, pillaring the gold of a falling Rome… people are out of work, dreams are put on hold if not killed and families worry for the future. It’s sad we keep borrowing and borrowing from China all while the Tibetans are being oppressed and while they tolerate the savage behavior of their neighbor North Korea.

When I was young I always hoped for a debt free american because when I read books about the US seeing that big debt number worried me and I was still in elementary. To be blunt I have a feeling some people won’t mind seeing a small temporay increase in thier taxes so long that it gives us a balanced budget, more limited government and perhaps most importantly an America without debt. With a conservative House we have a rare but brief opportunity to get our republic back to a path of Fiscal Sanity.

Cry for Corwin but Clap for Craig Huey(and support him)

Hello fellow conservatives though not as important as 2012 the 2010-2011 special elections are golden opportunites for us we already a lost to learn from but in my home Califronia there is a slight opportunity to gain a seat and although CA’s not the easiest place to win at least we have a chance and that may be all we need.

I’m sure all of you heard of the horrible New York lost and that lost is something all conservatives must learn from but Bellevia is young and we have him for 2012 and if not that then 2014(hopefully). Corwin seems to be a nice women and apparently she’s more conservative than the rest of the NY GOP assembly(according to her scources) perhaps if she still wants to take on the establishment then she can take on Cuomo in 2014 I think we redstaters would love to see a Corwin-Paladino ticket if we get to know more about it.

But while the NY GOP mourns one seat, on the other side of the country my home state California we have an opportunity to gain one seat in a fairly democratic district. It was a godsend for us for Ms.Jane Harman to retire soon and while the jungle primary(CA’s current elctoral system) makes it harder for us conservatives to win we have a victory and his name is Craig Huey.

Mr.Huey has bipartisan support(a must for the CAGOP which only constitutes a third of CA voters with huge segments of independent voters all over the state)  and it appears that he cares about our fight for freedom. Although I only had a brief glance of his site reading about him made my heart flutter. Earlier I read about him on State news and the revelation of him pouring his own money(a lot) made me cringe but when I came across him my heart fluttered and I had another revelation to hm it wasn’t about the money it was about our country. Years of liberal rule have left my state in the balance and even in that balance on the 2010 TP/GOP wave we picked more of the same. Please Redstate electing Huey not only means a slightly stronger conservative House but also a step in reforming Califronia and bringing Regan’s home back to conservative constitutional principles here’s his website and if you like lim PLEASE PLEASE donate or send your support through other means here’s his website

Please the run off is in July we have time we have hope

Oh the Woe of Standardized Testing…….

So I guess I’m gonna have to take a weekly vacation from Redstate now in order to study for my school finals. They’re on Wednesday so I guess I better study STUDY STUDY starting NOW. If only my school didn’t have finals…… I mean they’re other ways of holding me accountable. Oh the sorrow of bush’s baby NCLB I mean the Title 1 funds really helped out schools like mine and in a way standardized testing motivates me but, but who in the world wants to do TESTS almost all the time. I mean first we have to deal with quarterlies then a few weeks later finals then after that semester prep tests then now tommorrow next week more prep test and finally finals. Teachers don’t seem to worry about it now I guess they got used to the system I guess… but I have a feeling they despise it.

You see my teachers have no qualms with higher standards and they certainly love to give us a good test once in a while. But what they really love is satisfying the curiousity of an overachiever, getting to conduct experiments with their classes, or simply having a quick dissucion with their class about the content. Yet in these days some of these simple activities can simply be too hard to do at least for a regular regiment. It’s so sad how simple test could be such a horrid abomination(at times) for the US education system. I mean I have been tested, tested, tested for English yet at the end of the day I don’t see how I learn more with this current system. In fact my spelling’s depressing,I’m cryin when I’m writing and I’m calling for Coffee(though my parents responsibly deny me that for my heart). Because of testing I believe that students like me may be feeling more crammed and many more are losing out on their sleep. I cannot really remember when I have a great night of sleep when its not Friday or the weekend. And I’m still in Junior High…..

In the past I cringe at the fact about the Fed devolving the Department of Education but after learning that it was responsible for all my testing sorrows I realized, in Johnson’s time they funded education but now in Obama’s time they’re controlling it. Public Schools need HELP not NATIONALIZATION. Ehh they’re just pieces of paper though should I really take my friend’s advice on winging it?

Note for CA:Term limits only work if they clean house

Over the last few weeks I kept thinking about term limits and if they are really effective. I mean I live in a state(Cali of course) where term limits are suppose to be a model for the rest of the nation. Yet if you look at California everything is getting worse schools are failing, businesses and families are moving away for greener pastures and our debt(about 90 billion and counting)  continues to grow.  Before my generation grows up California could end up bankrupt. But that’s all negative thinking hopefully voters here(which I am sadly not one yet:( ) will be smarter for 2012 and elect some fiscal conservatives both for Sacramento and Washington. Then I thought their was an obvious reason our GOVERNMENT’S too big to untransperant and simply to partisan.

Obviously term limits should make California’s legislature more down to earth and less corrupt but in reality Cali’s legislators are becoming either puppets of party or big union. Both groups that can support big irresponsible government. So I have a couple of ideas on how to help bring back integrity and perhaps prosperity for California.

1) There’s a balance budget ammendment but unfortunately our assemblymen and senators refuse to adhere to it properly(apparently its late a LOT). Perhaps the Board of Equalization(or someone  maybe Us with a prop)! can withhold revenues until our Capital can fix their messes(this means them and their staffors wont get  paid :D ). Hopefully if conservatives in the houses can keep to their principles we can truly cut spending ,reform taxes (more revenues) most of all shrink government(the cuts are going to hurt me so I say this with great reservations and timid optimism).

2) Since California’s houses are becoming more like puppet stages we should simply cut the strings of their masters, lobbyists. There’s gotta be a way to cut lobbying. Yes I know this could hurt us but if our movement is really grassroots then our people will survive this. Perhaps a lobbying tax, a tax on partisanship and politics(less taxes for us, more for the Political class :)

3) Ok this might make a lot of people mad but how about an extension of term limits. I know some of you guys would oppose this and I know Cato wouldn’t love it either but how about letting assemblymen serve for 10 years and let the senate be unlimited because it can be the “Higher House”. This could mean that State Senators would get a pay cut,be restricted form some forms of lobbying interaction and pay higher campaigning fees. Or we could let some good public servant get simple 18 year careers(2 terms in Senate 4 each after assembly limit)  a generation of service is a good engough career length for any poltician esspecially citizen legislators(they have lives too hopefully :) )

Term limits are wonderful way to expel dirty lobbying and formulate citizen legislatures. But they cannot be a tool used alone. Civil service reform, oversight on officials and mega majorites for some major ammendments(like 3/5 for tax hikes) are other ideas that can help enhance civic participation, reduce government and most importantly letting us live free. California can change for the better :) . Look at Maine everyone so goes Maine, goes the nations :) . Thank you for reading this :)

Growing Up Right:My story and take on the Political Climate

So here am I graduating middle school(I’m a HS freshman in JR high) and I am so confused. Confused about life and still confused about politics even as I utilize my free time looking up politicians’ biographies, political websites and studying the issues through think tank sites. As I move closer and closer to the real world though I become more excited ready to face its challenges. Yet I feel like I must hide my politics when I go to my new high school from my teachers and peers(where I’m from people hate it and find it divisive) but for me I live for the debate to learn about other opinions. Frankly its one of the few things I can talk about. And I’ve been thinking should I start activism…….

So I am 15 and I already came up with my ideology and I even decided to go join FreedowmWorks(though I neeed to start up my freedomconnector). My ideology takes on philosophy of both the Cato Institute and the Hertiage Foundation both are such great organizations for me that I dream of joining(you should try looking them up :) ). Also I finally realized that being a Ron Paulism might not strike me well esspecially with his baggage so I will look towards his son and my ideas seem to reconcile more with Sean Hannity. Actually I read Hannity’s book Conservative Victory and it really helped me figure out where I stand on the issues. Probably two of my favorite senators(Conservative ones of course) are Pat Toomey and Marco Rubio(for the mean time) and my favorite reps are Paul Ryan and Richard Hanna(they seem moderate but their conservatism works for me and yes for the mean time). Actually I liked  Sen. Brownback but he’s  governor perhaps he can be the candidate for us in 2020(note I do have my favorite democrat ones but mentioning them here is irevelent just being honest and frank here). Also back to positions I realized that one of the requirements for one being conservative is to absolutely to be PRO LIFE I mean Reagan was pro choice at one time but he regreted it though I can not understand the prevailing opinion on gay rights its scary for me because what if someone close to me is how could I explain to them my past support for Prop 8 even though I support gay adoption(kids need someone) Yet like I said Im young so I will learn.

I bet if your reading this your probably wanna catch some commentary so I think I will give some now. Fox’s debate was fantastic and although I know it may be too late to comment I think I can lean to Pawlenty now. Cain’s cool though but I only watched some so my glimspe of his speech was quick. I also learned that every candidate needed to win South Carolina intresting fact :) . In addition I hear Rep.Ryan might be  running for the senate good luck to him and I have a feeling Huck would prefer to sit this one out but if he didn’t then he will have an easier time due to name recognition. Newt has good ideas but Im worried he’s not picking up luster and might end up as Dole(great public servant but bad campaign). And that’s a wrong umm… I really wish Redstate had a chat feature but alas it doesn’t do anyone of you guys where other places where I can take part in great discussions about conservative ideals. If you want connect with me presonally then that’s more welcome but I am a kid. Hope you liked the commentary and post next time I will try to see if my diaries can be more up to date and more in touch :) . If only I can get ahold of this blogging concept :P

P.S you guys know fo any really good sites and books I could read :) info welcome :) thanks for reading this

A Question about the U.N. (An Organization with Good Intentions or really a conspiracy)

Do any of you redstaters believe the UN will reform itself? Do you believe the US government should involve itself in UN activities and fund UN projects? Do you believe the UN is really a forum where the US should use to navigate foreign policy? Do you find them(the UN) sincere in their intentions to work for a better world? What is your general opinion of them and their sister organizations(UNICEF and UNESCO). Do you fine them a point of concern for the intrest of the US? If so why? And if your someone who believe in their goals but reject the organization itself what alternatives are there you know of to pursue such common goals(end of poverty, sustainble developement  and spread of liberty).

In my heart I believe there are good people there who are want to help the world. Yet at the same time I know or at least feel there is a anti AMERICAN faction within the UN whether it is simply envy from our prosperity or backlash of our US policy we may really never know for sure. Feel free to provide insight and answer some of my questions. If not then you are welcome not ot spout out your feelings but your highly welcomed to.
