Shades of things to come?

The Associated Press reports that Hillary Clinton’s former chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, and two other staff members were granted immunity deals in exchange for their cooperation in the FBI’s investigation into Hillary’s use of a private email server as secretary of state.

Congressman Jason Chaffetz, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, tells the Associated Press that Mills gave federal investigators access to her laptop on the condition that findings couldn’t be used against her. Chaffetz says, “No wonder they couldn’t prosecute a case. They were handing out immunity deals like candy.”

The two others granted immunity were John Bentel, then-director of the State Department’s Office of Information Resources Management, and Clinton aide Heather Samuelson. According to the Associated Press, two other people were previously identified as receiving immunity deals.

Mills is a long-term Clinton aide. She served as deputy White House Counsel for President Bill Clinton, whom she defended during his 1999 impeachment trial.  She has served as Senior Adviser and Counsel for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign and  served as Counselor and Chief of Staff to Hillary Clinton during her whole tenure as United States Secretary of State.
