I’m wondering if the Saturday Night Live jabs at Obama are taking a toll and peeling off liberal support for the prez. The -15 number comes 2 days after the “screwing China” SNL opening. Tomorrow’s number is much anticipated.

Using the Rassmussen numbers, the first time that the overall disapprove percentage was higher than the overall approve number was in late July; which was also the first time that the overall disapprove percentage topped 50.

Since then, the overall approve total has at times been higher than the overall disapprove total, but mostly the disapprove total has been higher. If you calculated an approval index using the overall percentages, President Obama’s index would be at -9 today, which is the lowest it has been yet.

(ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, et al) of course, didn’t. The latest set of polls coming out of this ‘unbiased’ group had sampling edges of Ds over Rs by anywhere from 12 – 15 %. And if you look at the ABC polls over the last few months, they’re actually showing ‘adults’ leaving the REPUBLICANS and declaring themselves Independents while showing the Dems as staying steady (’cause we all know that the exit polling in VA showed Indies breaking for Dems over Pubs 2 -1; oh…wait a second)

Add that to the fact that these shameless shills poll ADULTS as opposed to RVs and LVs (i.e., if you’re breathing and have no interest in anything except to follow the Kate & John saga and your favorite TV station is VH1) and you get the reason why whereas respected pollsters have Bambi in the low single to negative approval ratings, these clowns are showing His Excellency at double digit approval ratings w/CBS at a +17.

But I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

Most of the wailing on the Left has been due to the perception that Obama is stiffing them on most of what he promised them he’d do. They are learning that they were as used and abused by him and his promises as the “centrist” Dems who voted for him based on his deceptive campaigning.

Nobody is as important to Obama as Obama himself. All of us as well as this country’s well-being are just props in the epic “Life Of Obama” story that he thinks he’s starring in. His ultimate goal is to be President of the World, in whatever form he can manage that. What a wonderfully overblown goal for a man who can’t even manage to lead his own party with majorities in both branches of Congress.

The man is an embarrassment to this country.

There is precious little evidence that Lefties are abandoning Obama. At least, not yet.

It’s true, that there is now an ‘enthusiasm gap’ on the Left (as there was going into 1994), but that’s almost to be expected after a big win.

But the fact Obama’s Approval Ratings haven’t plunged into the low 40′s or even the 30′s yet is proof positive that the Left, and Dem-leaning Independents, haven’t abandoned Obama at this point.

When that will happen, I think, is if Dan Perrin is right, and the Dems fail to enact *any* Health Care bill, *or* if they completely dump Public Option/Single Payer out of it and embrace Stupak, just to pass it. At that point, I think the Left might wash their hands of The Won(tm), and his numbers will plummet into the 30s.

Of course, if Obama announces a (near total) pullout from Afghanistan, as I fully expect him to do next month, then even failing to pass Single Payer may not peel off the Left from supporting El Zero, and his Approval numbers will stay in the 40s…

Hardcore liberals think Obama may be more interested in promoting Obama the Legend as opposed to pushing an even more liberal agenda than what he has pursued. But it’s like during the campaign – Obama didn’t have any concrete plans other than a plan to get elected.

Broken by party, both Rs and Ds seem to be floating around the typical 80/20 party-line overall D/A ratio which doesn’t tend to move much, barring a huge news event. That’s the bulk of your immovable 25% of the total.

But if I were a D now–as I long was–I would be weeping and wailing for more than the trees* upon hearing of the -35 SD/SA split AMONG INDEPEDENTS! I only get the daily RR summaries, so haven’t seen the tracking of that–if you, bk, or anyone else has that split from early summer I’d love to see it!

*Hey I thought the trees LIKED CO₂. They should be leaping for joy!

Speaking for many liberals who are somewhat disappointed in Obama’s governance, he’s losing ground on our side more because of his vacillating decision making. He has not really stood on any policy beyond his desire to be a world celebrity.

Full disclosure — I didn’t vote for him. I gave my allegiance to McCain decades ago for things he did for me. ,

I titled my post on this polling & its electoral results "That Sinking Feeling." If the Democrats don't change course, they're in for real trouble in 2010. BTW, it's interesting to note that independents are still breaking against Democrats at the same rate as during the Virginia & NJ elections.
