Today, Rasmussen reports Obama’s Presidential Approval Index fell to -11. Another record low.

Today is the first Obama Approval Index based entirely upon polling conducted
after the press conference, during which Obama made his infamous “stupidly” remark. Likely voters obviously do not approve of the president’s ObamaGates controversy – the number of likely voters who strongly disapprove of Obama’s performance has gone up 5% since the press conference (from 35% on Wednesday morning to 40% today).
The tracking Poll shows that 29% of the nation’s voters still strongly approve of Obama’s performance, but 40% strongly disapprove. Rasmussen’s Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve.
The more likely voters find out President Obama, the less they care for him and his extremely liberal policies. According to Rasmussen, Obama is now seen as politically liberal by 76% – up six points from a month ago and 11 points since he was elected. Forty-eight percent now see Obama as very liberal – up 20 points since he was elected.

Enjoy This, Because The Spread Can't Go Much Higher...
IJB Sunday, July 26th at 11:12AM EST (link)Because Obama’s “Strongly Approve” numbers will never go much below 30% *regardless* of what happens (the ‘hard core’ will NEVER abandon him), I don’t think this Approval spread can ever go much over -15%.
Pretty much the only way for it to get much over -15% is if Obama’s overall approval ratings fall into the 30s%. We’re still some way away from that (though it’s possible we may get there by about January of 2010…).
At least, that’s my reading of it.
"Strongly Approve" numbers can go down; But the approval numbers will hover there.
Swamp_Yankee (Diary) Sunday, July 26th at 11:26AM EST (link)The same poll tracks approve and strongly approve. This is really an enthusiasm index.
Obama will have a base of those that will always approve. But the Kos Kids, the radicals and all the black Americans who thought they were getting free homes and gas, may yet switch from “strongly approve to approve.
Those idiosts really expceted Obama to work miracles and will be dissappointed at some point.

Why would a hardcore Marxist
izoneguy (Diary) Sunday, July 26th at 11:21AM EST (link)worry about the economy? Obama just gave his friends $787 Billion so why should he worry? He gave the UAW a few small car companies and now he wants to “give” everyone free healthcare.
You and I know however that the 52% of Obama voters include 22% who did not know what Obama was and did not understand his agenda. The above poster is right that Obama will always have hardcore 30% nutroot support. This 30% are getting the Obama spoils and they will fight like hell to keep the gravy train rolling. Just remember, the gravy train is funded by your tax dollars.
The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.
People had 3 1/2 reasons to vote for Obama
David123 (Diary) Sunday, July 26th at 3:36PM EST (link)1. He’s a Democrat
2. He’s a leftist [although somewhat hidden for a while]
1/2. He’s not Bush [only half a reason since McCain isn't Bush either]
3. He transcends race and brings/will bring racial healing to America.
That last reason doesn’t look so good anymore now that Obama has called Cambridge police stupid based on his own racial attitude.

If we do our jobs, we can make the policies he backs extremely unpopular. I agree with Swamp’s general assessment, but I think the 30% is probably too high for hardcore Obama policy supporters. The left knows this as you can see by the Demint cartoon; they’ll make any attack on his policies an attack on him. We have to be very careful about separating Comrade Obama from his policies. We already catch Hell from the squishy middle who can’t stand any form of controversy or criticism. I don’t know, really, how Democrat officeholders and officeseekers somehow separate themselves from the filth that their far left stormtroopers spew, but we get the rap for being “partisan and meanspirited” even for modulated criticism of anything Democrat. It’s a quandary, but it is a line we’ll have to work in attacking, even demonizing, policy, while separating it from personal attacks on Comrade Obama.

The Dems in office and aspiring to office can separate
janis (Diary) Sunday, July 26th at 12:10PM EST (link)themselves from the rabid dogs on the far left in two ways. The first is that the MSM won’t report the worst things that the far left says and does. And if they DO report on it, they make it look mainstream and justified, as in the full page ad that Moveon.org did before Gen. Petraeus’ testimony to Congress in 2007. The other thing the Dems do is the same thing the Blue Dogs do, which is mouth the moderate-conservative notions while voting the liberal way anyway.
Nothing like lies of both commission and omission to get the job done.
Liberal Agendistas
Scope (Diary) Sunday, July 26th at 11:38AM EST (link)Last week I read that Obamas approval rating was 55%, which had dropped lower than Bush’s 56% at the same time in his presidency. I thought about how tremendously angry the Liberal Agendistas were when Bush became the president, and would be putting the brakes on the Liberal Agenda. The passions of those that believed Bush was handed the presidency by the Supreme Court was palpable, yet, he retained a 56% approval rating. Obama was elected by 53% of the population (and with help from ACORN for sure), and has had a very complicit approval and promotion by the MSM, yet, he fell lower in approval than Bush the hated, who had no MSM support. I am just waiting to see Obama’s rating drop below Bush’s when he left the presidency. That will be when we know we won against Socialism/Marxism. I just hope when the next Obama shows up on the scene, this time in history will be remembered only to well. Not many don’t remember the Carter years, and they were mild compared to this evil little man.
Not surprised that Dear Leader Obama
gonzo55 (Diary) Sunday, July 26th at 12:14PM EST (link)is now more unpopular than ever. After campaigning as a centrist moderate, he tricked 70 million gullible idiots into voting for him, and now that he’s in office we’re stuck with his gassy socialism for the next 4 years. Thank God at least some of the morons who voted for him are waking up to how his policies Hurt America. I have no doubt whatsoever that the repubs (Romney, I hope) will be back in the White House shortly after winning a Reagan-like landslide.

Sharp_Right_Turn Sunday, July 26th at 12:37PM EST (link)I thought I’d share this with you all: I spent yesterday entertaining half a dozen relatives from Taiwan and Japan. One of my cousins happens to be a journalist in Taiwan (I’ll refrain from giving his name to protect him from potential repercussions) and he asked me what I thought about our new President. I asked him if it was off the record or was this going to be used in a future article. He assured me that it was just to satisfy his own curiosity. Even then, I didn’t fully trust him and spoke with my guard up. I told him that even though I respected Obama’s intellectual agility, I didn’t vote for Obama and that I didn’t agree with the majority of his views. I also told him (though I was thinking otherwise) that it was too early in the game to see how he performs overall.
His reply was not what I expected. He said that most Asians that he’s spoken to overseas perceive Obama to be weak and naive. In many Asian cultures, apologizing is a sign of weakness. Excessive apologizing is a confirmation of incompetence as a leader. They’ve never seen a leader (Free-world or dictator) apologize for his own country so often during their tenure, let alone such a short one. I was shocked but I concurred.
I told him that most of our national press coverage reports that Obama is liked abroad so his remarks were surprising to me. His answer to that was even more profound. He said “Just because people like you doesn’t mean they respect or fear you. There are millions in South Korea and Japan who are very worried about his handling of Kim Jong Il’s antics. There are also millions of Taiwanese who are none too thrilled about the your President’s cowtowing and compromising with China to buy American debt. If China ever decides to annex Taiwan, America will be economically powerless and diplomatically powerless to stop them. These concerns are real in that region of the world and Obama is either too ignorant or stubborn to acknowledge them.”
I asked what he thought of Obama. He replied, “He’s an intelligent man with a sharp mind but I think he’ll prove to be an awful President. I think Americans voted with their hearts instead of their heads and they will pay a heavy price for that soon. Polls indicate that most Americans like Obama personally but don’t like his job performance. That’s not a very practical approach to policy. No offense but I think many Americans have confused charisma with true leadership skills. And if Asians are anything, they are pragmatic. To put it another way, I love my 17-yr.-old daughter with all my heart, but I know better than to give her the keys to a city bus (at least until I she proved capable). Believe me when I tell you that my opinion of Obama is not the rare exception.”
So there you have it RedState. You are not as alone overseas as you thought you were.
Sharp_Right_Turn, very heartening to read this
peg_c (Diary) Sunday, July 26th at 1:16PM EST (link)and very, very believable. One thing I know is apologizing involves loss of face. Obama is causing the U.S. severe loss of face in countries and cultures where it matters. He is an extreme embarassment to thinking Americans and as your relative says, looks weak, naive and unfit for office (any office IMHO).
Personally, I disgree with “intelligent man with a sharp mind” – his utter lack of coherent thoughts, speech, and principles wedded to inarticulate and fumbling off-TOTUS speaking belies any nimble mind, quickwittedness or intellectual coherence. About the only thing revealed, when he is off-script and off-TOTUS, is his id in control and regurgitating his true Marxist and viciously anti-American philosophy. Those snakes are the only “coherent” things in his head.

Yeah, izoneguy, you're right, but that's a tough
janis (Diary) Sunday, July 26th at 2:30PM EST (link)nut to crack. I have people who married into the family who were raised on the “the gov. will do it for me” mentality. It’s so ingrained in them that they plan their lives around how to still get the gov. benefits while getting a job or raising their children. They know that if they don’t make too much money they’ll still qualify for food stamps or TennCare, so they purposefully stay below the cutoff point for either program.
Sad to say, but they also choose friends who are of the same behavior. And then they claim that “well, everybody does this!” as a defense. It’s my hardhearted purpose in life to see how much of that kind of thinking I can change before it ruins the next generation.

Sharp_Right_Turn Sunday, July 26th at 2:32PM EST (link)Police Sergeant Crowley would have gotten an apology from Obama by now had be been the leader of Iran, Venezuela, North Korea or al-Qeda instead of an American law enforcement officer.
What's more, Obama lacks upside...
MacAoidh (Diary) Sunday, July 26th at 2:36PM EST (link)…popularity is unsustainable when each and every policy you espouse and attempt to implement is opposed by a significant majority of the people. And that is where Obama finds himself.
His domestic agenda is poisonous; he brings to the table all the terrible left-wing ideas which have gotten previous Democrat nominees badly beaten in presidential elections of the past, and what’s worse he’s attempted to pass them down the throats of the American peopel without even allowing for public scrutiny of the legislation which brought them on.
His foreign policy is the worst of any American president in the modern age. He telegraphs weakness to our enemies, he insults our friends and he abandons well-established national interests like the promotion of the rule of law (see the mess in Honduras and our disgraceful role in it, for example, or our tepid endorsement of the pro-freedom rebellion in Iran – the best opportunity for regime change in 30 years in our most dangerous enemy in the world).
And now, with the colossal Cambridge PD gaffe, Obama has reopened the racial divide between himself and 60 percent of the population. That divide has aways been there, but it’s been papered over by the DNC Propaganda machine since the Rev. Wright stuff came out. Conventional wisdom 16 months ago was that the Wright business would likely sink Obama, and he survived it thanks to the incompetence of his challengers – but the more mistakes like this Obama makes the more average Americans will see a pattern. And patterns, once perceived, are extremely difficult to overcome.
If anybody can tell me where Obama has an opportunity to reverse his current slide, let me know what I’m missing. I see a failed presidency in the making which will make Jimmy Carter look like Andrew Jackson.
