I think I messed up. I screwed up in not recognizing the perception that even though this is an honest mistake, I believe, on Tom’s part, that, you know, ordinary people are out there paying taxes every day and whether it’s an intentional mistake or not, it was sending the wrong signal.
You can watch President Obama’s admission in the following video:
The full transcript of Katie Couric’s interview with President Obama is available here.
I appreciate it when a man can admit he made a mistake. Nevertheless, Obama is still sending the wrong signal about tax cheats. Even though Tom Daschle and Nancy Killefer were thrown under the bus for their tax issues, tax cheat Timothy Geithner is still Treasury Secretary.

I personally like the Democrat's tax plan...
owise1 Wednesday, February 4th at 10:21AM EST (link)and I think you will too if you just think about it. Here’s the plan:
1. Raise taxes.
2. Raise them to such a high level that no one can pay them.
3. No one pays them until they run for or are nominated for government office.
4. So no one pays taxes except government officials.
Frankly, I think it’s an outstanding plan! Go Dems!

Intentions matter
Henry Wednesday, February 4th at 11:13AM EST (link)With the left it’s always about intentions. It’s not a problem since they did not ‘intend’ to break the law.
And just like with ‘improper’ campaign contributions, you just give the money back or pay up if you are ever caught. No harm, no foul, right? I mean we all have that same option, right? Just ‘make it right’ if caught and there is no further punishment or fine?
In some locales, you can’t even serve on the Zoning Review Board or the Cable Franchise Review Board or what-have-you if you have unpaid property taxes. Why not audit every member of Congress annually?
