Sen. Kit Bond makes Robert Gibbs cry

From the Urban Dictionary:

pwned – A corruption of the word “Owned.” This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled “owned.” When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so “has been owned.”

Instead, it said, so-and-so “has been pwned.”

This week, Missouri’s Senator Kit Bond massively pwned Obama Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

Last week, Gibbs revealed in a press conference that the FBI had been receiving more cooperation from The Christmas Pantybomber (Umar Farouq) Abdulmutallab.  Senator Bond is the ranking Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee and received this information from FBI leadership.  According to Bond, the FBI instructed the committee to not disclose Abulmutallab’s cooperation.  But Gibbs did just that.

Yesterday, Bond discussed his exchange with Gibbs on St. Louis radio station KMOX.

Bond, on the Mark Reardon Show on KMOX, called Gibbs a “clown” and said it’s the White House that should apologize because the F.B.I. told everyone to keep the information quiet.

“They said it is absolutely critical that this information not come out because it will hamper our ability to follow up on all the leads the underpants man (Umar Abdulmutallab) gave us on the terror activity being planned in Yemen.” said Bond.

When asked where Bond thought the information originated he told KMOX it had to have come from the White House.

Bond has sent a letter to the President outlining his concerns.  He has not received a reply from the president.

Press Secretary Gibbs has proposed a debate with Senator Bond.  Bond told KMOX “I don’t debate Press Secretaries.”

That’s gonna leave a mark.  Pwned.

Good for Kit Bond.

I know terrorists are ignorant....however

jk123 Saturday, February 6th at 4:25PM EST (link)

they may not all be stupid. Do you really think that the terrorists in yemen and everywhere else do not know that the american government is interrogating this idiot. Im sure they did not hear Gibbs’ remarks and say to one another, “oh no!, he promised he wouldn’t talk.” Be sure that you see what Mr. Bond is doing. I take comfort in hearing that a member of congress takes seriously our security, but lets think about this one before letting a dislike of Gibbs get the best of rational thought.

That won't wash

RedBeard Sunday, February 7th at 8:11AM EST (link)

This is the rationale used every time some government blabbermouth sounds off about a national security secret: “Oh, no big deal; the enemy probably knew anyway.”

Gibbs is a rather complete braying jackass, and in this case specifically behaved with recklessness derived from a political desperation to say something to defend crappy administration policies, security be damned.

The dislike for Gibbs is something he has earned.

Come on now

Are you saying that the enemy does not know that we have this guy in custody and are questioning him. This is no national security secret we are talking about, its a man that everyone knows we have and are currently questioning. Do you really believe that had Gibbs not spoken, the enemy would assume their guy would not talk? Come on now sir. Lets think about this one. I am no Gibbs fan, I am however a fan of common sense.

I think the White House, Holder, Obamanation, and ilk do these things deliberately so as to undercut US security and weaken the nation and open it to attack.

If this is true then Gibbs should not have released that info

romo2austin Saturday, February 6th at 7:21PM EST (link)

but given the fact that Bond and Collins lied about his cooperation in the first place, I question whether he is lying about this as well, or at least is telling half truths.

And I don't see where he made Gibbs cry

Gibbs offered to debate him, and Bond backed out and tried to save face by using a school boy taunt.

wait....are you for real?

No, Sparky, *this* is a schoolboy taunt.

This is a typical liberal reaction to situations like this. They try to nullify
statements like Sen. Bond’s biy accusing him of lying, thus attempting to “shoot the messenger.” It is a weak attempt to distract
attention from the issue at hand.

Oh, and another thing. . . since when was a “half truth” not a lie?

Classic way to lie: tell the truth, just not ALL of it. nt

Economy, Foreign Relations, Defense Systems

californiasam (Diary) Saturday, February 6th at 8:57PM EST (link)

At about 5 minutes in, we can see where we just might be right now as a country. The students have been fed Marxism by the Progressives for generations, and then, the country is purposefully destabilized.

http://bigjournalism.com/mwalsh/2010/02/06/overnight-thread-how-to-destabilize-and-destroy-a-country/

Why would Obama purposefully choose a path that will ruin our economy? (Crazy spending, anti-business legislation, anti-capitalist rhetoric)
Why would he befriend our enemies and turn his back on our allies? (Snub the UK and France, abandon Poland)
Why would he take actions that would hurt our defense systems (mirandizing terrorists, leaking undie-bomber’s collaboration)

I hope that I’m wrong. Being right about this is just too scary.

Political Points Beat National Security

Ausonius (Diary) Saturday, February 6th at 9:46PM EST (link)

“Why would he take actions that would hurt our defense systems (mirandizing terrorists, leaking undie-bomber’s collaboration)?”

Because they just HAD TO PROVE that being nice to terrorists does not prevent information from being obtained.

In this case the terrorist’s parents just happened to be non-jihadist, and were brought over to persuade him to co-operate.

Jack Bauer would have gotten the information – and more of it – very quickly! :)

It's just the house rule - no big deal

RedBeard Sunday, February 7th at 8:20AM EST (link)

Some blogs and discussion boards don’t mind tangents and deviations within threads. This one does mind. It’s really that simple.

Don’t feel bad, though; a lot of folks, myself included, have run afoul of this rule by simply being unaware of it when first arriving at Redstate. I’m still here, and you can hardly see the bruises anymore. ;-)

No threadjacking intent here

californiasam (Diary) Saturday, February 6th at 11:15PM EST (link)

As I said, my post is actually in the same vein as “It’s not a joke” above, which discusses the WHY behind Obama and Gibb’s actions beyond the obvious political play. I truly believe that there is more here than that. An ominous more. It was concerning to me that so many were focused on just the schoolyard scuffle (snarkyness) and the new Breitbart post just accentuated it for me.

Definition: To take over the content of a message thread by changing the subject of discourse to a topic outside the purview of the original subject and/or forum, while maintaining the subject line. A form of amusement for trolls… threadjacking is deliberately steering the discussion off topic.

So if you were talking about this and I started discussing, say, knitting, then I’d be threadjacking you. I do not believe that I threadjacked you especially given that others made comments in the same vein, mine were just fleshed out a little more.

Perhaps threadjacking is in the eye of the beholder. It’s your diary, so I’ll be sure not to comment on it in the future, just in case.

Debate? Debate what?!?

Red_in_SC (Diary) Monday, February 8th at 5:34AM EST (link)

What in blue blazes would Bobby Gibbs want to debate? Whether we should have national security? Or, does he just want an opportunity to show more transparency, and reveal more secrets.

He is worse than a clown, he is a clueless, arrogant fool. A boy in a man’s game whose first concern, even before his country, is is own fragile ego. But, then, again, he is not alone on Pennsylvania Ave these days.

Gibbs is pathetic that he would even make the offer..

qurys Monday, February 8th at 8:43AM EST (link)

Much less even seriously think that Bond would consider it even for a moment. Who does Gibbs think he is? Oh I forgot……he is Obama’s press secretary. That makes him the prophet of the messiah.

Since when does a US Senator debate

edwlstr Sunday, February 14th at 1:41AM EST (link)

a White House newsboy? Arrogance is too mild a term to encompass this fool’s brazen egomania. Has Obama convinced this intellectually disfigured member of his administration that the executive branch is somehow over the legislative?
