Yesterday we had Geithner and Summers saying “the deficits that we have brought on are too high, so we may have to raise taxes on the middle class” (well, they didn’t say the “that we brought on” part, but they should have…).

If ObamaCare Passes, The Middle Class Will Be Taxed Hard
DavidSage (Diary) Monday, August 3rd at 6:32PM EST (link)There really is no way to pay for the type of health care Obama is pushing without substantially raising taxes on the middle class, unless you want to absolutely destroy the dollar. Even if you raised the top income tax rates to 70%, it still wouldn’t be enough to pay for this health care plan. My guess is he will try to say they aren’t tax increases but “fees” for health care access.
This pledge of Obama’s of “no new taxes for those who earn under $250k” will haunt Obama. I really don’t see how he’s going to be able to keep the promise with the Bush tax cuts expiring and deficits soaring because of his spending spree.
My fear is he’ll get these programs passed, and be able to get by without raising taxes until after the election.

So the middle class won’t feel it directly. Supply-side economic theory would say the middle class would feel it indirectly, however I have yet to see supply side economics work in the real world.
As much as I hate a 1 trillion $$$ plan, your numbers are whack man.

2. What is “the top 1.2% tax bracket”? I’ve been a tax lawyer for 30+ years and I’ve never heard that expression. I believe it is as meaningless as your arguments.
3. What is the “Obama health plan”? I understand that BO is leaving it to Congress to draft a plan. As he has said, many plans are out there.

The Dems are more likely to end the Bush tax cuts a couple years early (something I believe Obama is against). I don’t know why increasing taxes is always the only option when it comes to reducing defecits, cutting spending works just as fine. Lets stop subsidizing coal, oil, food, mortgages, and federal scholarships for children from wealthy families. Lets scale back on offensive military actions and focus more on defense..
And lastly, lets give the President a line-item veto. That or just kick Cochran and Byrd off appropriations, that would save billions of dollars.

Lets wait and see how Obama feels about the expiration of the tax cuts of the Republican Congress and President Bush from the good old years. I will bet you my taxes are going to sky rocket as a matter of fact my bonus this year was much smaller then last year after taxes for the same amount. Hmmm, 95% will not see a tax increase BS, I am in the 95%.

Lastly, NO line item veto for the President of the United States, you do that and you give the power of the President to punish states and certain programs, that is not the power the President should have, Obama would abuse it as he is doing with the Census. Started uploading vids to YouTube. Liz Cheny clips first, then the Marco Rubio clips, then Michael Williams, then Nikki Haley (that’s all I had). In clips less than 10 minutes in length per YouTube rules.
Once you start, you can’t break away from the upload process or it kills all the streaming uploads. So although the Liz clips were uploaded, I had to be careful not to disturb the upload process. Some of the clips took twenty or thirty minutes to upload, even on a high-speed connection.
While I’m waiting for the rest to finish uploading, apparently someone had seen Erick’s video posting of the clip he shot with his iPhone and then did a YouTube search, finding the Liz Cheney clips I had uploaded.
While all of this is going on, I’m also working.
And helping my lovely wife with tasks relating to our four children.
Etc.
Just happy the vids are getting viewed!
Wish I had shot video of all the speakers, but my FlipVideo only holds about 25 minutes of video — will be getting a high capacity one soon.
