If you weren’t convinced that the Dems weren’t really serious about re-instituting the “Fairness Doctrine,” then take a gander at The O’s latest:
“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.
“There are big things that unify Republicans and Democrats,” the official said. “We shouldn’t let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done.”
“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done.” What does that even mean? I suppose we have another case of Obama trying to communicate without his friend, the teleprompter. Does Limbaugh bother him SO much that he can’t handle others’ listening to him?
This week has been a steady stream of leftist supporter payback. O and his buds have been the textbook examples of “sore winners”. Any hopes of adulthood in the White House and on Capitol Hill have been squashed.
This Limbaugh slam goes back to my old theory – if you’re ticking off the bad guys, you must be doing something right. Keep it up, Rush.

Lawsuit?
jfpurdue01 (Diary) Friday, January 23rd at 11:58PM EST (link)It seems to me that Rush would have a pretty good lawsuit on his hands against the federal government for trying to ruin his business. What an irresponsible comment for the President of the United States to make. What next, telling people to stop buying Ford automobiles? (Oops, too late for that!) Imagine if President Bush had told people to stop reading the New York Times. There would have been people all over the media slamming him for that.
Well, you know....

The great thing is, instead of whining about it, Rush is being an example of capitalism and adapting to the times….he’ll be adding “when America was safe” to that merchandise.
I’m sure his response to Obama will be the same to Colin Powell when he said the same thing….”Mr. President, they haven’t listened to me in *years*”.
I’m sure there are a lot of Dems eager to see the Fairness Doctrine passed, and probably some Reps who think the party is just too darn conservative. Sigh.

Rapunzel46 Saturday, January 24th at 1:27AM EST (link)for picking on Rush in the manner he chose, Obama really said he has no respect for the large number of American’s who listen to Rush and the people who don’t listen to Rush but think along the same lines as Rush. I would re-up anyway
peg_c (Diary) Saturday, January 24th at 9:06AM EST (link)but you are right; this only increases Rush’s capital. He seriously IS the Leader of the Conservative Movement. Everyone else on our side in a position to lead us is a rat and a traitor. This is why Obama is aiming at Rush. For quite a while I wondered why Obama, Wright, Schumer, etc. were aiming at Hannity. Hannity is great but way too nice. He does not have the bunker busters in his arsenal that Rush does. Oh, I suspect Rush has an ace in the hole for fighting the Fairness Doctrine – he intimated as much a few years ago on the air. And yes, this was a slam against all us Rush listeners and supporters more than against Rush himself. I say to Obama: keep it up, you arrogant know-nothing.

casel21 (Diary) Saturday, January 24th at 9:43AM EST (link)Obama meets with Rush’s Palin-hating, Reaganism-is-dead competitors and commands they keep quiet about their meeting. They comply. Frum starts a web site presumptuously entitled “New Majority,” featuring scribblings from our betters telling us why were so unsophisticated.
Rush concludes that Obama’s plan is to separate Republican politicians from their voters. Rush is right again.
If the things to be done in “getting things done” is nationalization of American industries, do these people really want to get things done.
Read Obama's quote in context
kuhlmanngj Saturday, January 24th at 1:30PM EST (link)and you’ll see the importance of the word “just”. He’s saying that if your only source of information is Rush, then you’re only gettng one side, and will see no reason to compromise. Therefore, nothing will get done.
Also, if you read the quote in context, you’ll see that Obama wasn’t “going after” Rush. It was a throwaway line in the middle of a larger point he was making about bipartisanship.
Hey pinhead, the objective should be to get
mbecker908 (Diary) Saturday, January 24th at 1:33PM EST (link)absolutely “nothing done” as it relates to BOs agenda.
bipartisanship is now, always has been, and always will be surrender to the donkeys
Beaglescout (Diary) Saturday, January 24th at 1:40PM EST (link)The Reps had a bipartisan candidate in McCain. Since bipartisan really means “donkey in all but name,” what we got was a donkey president. We would have gotten one no matter who won, but this one is officially in the donkey party. And that’s the real lesson, when both candidates are donkeys, a donkey will win. When the Reps give in to what the donkeys want, then we have a government of donkeys. When the Reps oppose the donkey plan, then when the donkey plan fails (as it is guaranteed to do because it’s based on false premises) then the fault can be laid at the donkeys’ feet. This is not possible if the Reps join in. If the Reps agree with bad policy and help pass it, then they own the bad results and get no benefit from good results.
There is no upside to Reps playing “bipartisan” surrender games with Dems. There is only a downside.
Likewise, there is no downside to Reps opposing Dems at every step, every word, everywhere, for all time. This goes for the media too, as the media is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dems.
“A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one.”

Scope (Diary) Saturday, January 24th at 2:48PM EST (link)kuhlmanngi also posted this on another thread-
Democrats, like Republicans, are not single-issue voters.
Is there nothing that you can’t spin to make progressives look bad? If Obama casts a liberal vote, then his talk of compromise is just hot air. If Obama casts a conservative vote, then his supporters are a bunch of idiots for nominating him instead of Clinton.
If Obama ate a sandwich, I’m sure that you could find some way to make it appear sinister or foolish. What do you get out of this echo chamber you’ve set up here?
So you think that abortion should be illegal. Alright, let’s talk about it. You think that low taxes and a small government are better, fair enough. Let’s talk about it. But if you really think that people who disagree with you on these ideas are insincere, ignorant, duplicitous or even evil, then you’ve been in the echo chamber too long.
There are hypocrites, selfish creeps, and morons on every side of every issue. I’d congratulate you on your superior detective work in finding so many flaws with the left, except that it’s really not a hard thing to do. Go check out some of the liberal blogs and, whaddayaknow, they’re able to do the same thing for conservatives. Big surprise. Oh, but your gripes are legitimate and theirs aren’t. Riiiiiiight.
While the far right and far left are congratulating themselves about how awesomely correct they think they are, it’s the folks in the middle who are shaping the future of this country and actually getting things done.
When a very new poster calls Redstate an “echo chamber”, does that not warrant the dreaded “fluffy bunny”? or a blam from Moe?
HappyBunny got him on a Sarah Palin comment. nt
