One thing you alluded to, but didn&#039;t really flesh out, is that Giannoulias isn&#039;t merely &quot;the horse that the Illinois Democratic  machine selected&quot;; he&#039;s Obama&#039;s personal friend and long-time political ally - not really the kind of association that one can unload at the drop of a hat. I mean, it&#039;d be like turning on a friend with whom you served on non-profit boards, or maybe like disowning your pastor of twenty years... Oh, wait...</description>
