Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Brian. It would be truly delicious for one of Obama's handmaidens to be denied his due. One thing you alluded to, but didn't really flesh out, is that Giannoulias isn't merely "the horse that the Illinois Democratic machine selected"; he's Obama's personal friend and long-time political ally - not really the kind of association that one can unload at the drop of a hat. I mean, it'd be like turning on a friend with whom you served on non-profit boards, or maybe like disowning your pastor of twenty years... Oh, wait...
